Unpretentious Potato Starch, 1.5 lb, Thickener for Soups, Stews, Sauces & Gravies

Every winter I make several batches of a few different kinds of soup. I pack them up and freeze inserving size portions so we have soup on hand for the winter. For Soups that need thickening I have struggled to get the right consistency. I have tried Wondra and all the usual baking powders and flour. I am never happy with the outcome. This year I tried this potato starch and it worked like a charm. It folds in nicely. No clumping!

Works well to thicken sauces and even refried beans without changing the flavor!

This potato starch worked exactly as expected. It dissolved easily and made my sauce thicker. The real test will be when I make a gravy. Haven't had much luck with cornstarch so I figured I'd give this a try. A little goes a long way, so the bag should last quite a while. The only negative, and the reason I didn't give it five stars, was the bag didn't close properly, so I put it in a plastic bag.

I’m pleased with this. Taking it at bedtime and seems to be helping my digestion.

I liked that it was easy and desirable to use. I really liked the difference in the taste of our Potato Pancakes from using this product instead of flour. The recipe suggested using potato starch but said we could use flour instead. I told my husband that I could taste the flour and that the potato pancakes didn't have the potato flavor I was expecting. When we received the potato starch, we made a different batch of potato pancakes using the potato starch this time. The flavor was superior to the flavor of the potato pancakes with the flour.

It dissolves quickly. It makes good gravy.

Great when I couldn't find it anywhere and needed it the next day!
