Print More Coupons? Yes, please!
I am one of those coupon junkies that everyone hates to get behind when checking out at the grocery store. I have a nice 3-ring binder with baseball card dividers, all of my coupons neatly files and categorized. In addition to the coupons from the Sunday inserts in newspapers, I also like to print coupons from various Internet sites (all legit coupons, by the way! - I prefer to save money legally, not like those crazy ladies on Extreme Couponing, but I digress), and as anyone with an inkjet printer knows, you will quickly run your ink cartridges dry as page after page of savings spits out of your printer. The solution? I decided to purchase a Samsung Laser Printer (black & white only, color would be nice, but pricey) from Walmart this past Christmas. The printer came with a starter toner which worked great, but is about half the size of a standard toner and finally gave up the ghost in early March. I went back to the local Walmart but amazingly (or maybe not, that store has horrible supply issues) they did not have the toner. So, I came here to Amazon to see if I could find one. Now, there are many companies out there that sell generic toners that are meant to work in printers just fine. I have never had a good experience buying these, and while you will definitely save some money, if it doesn't work you generally cannot return them. I think that it is just better in the long run to spend the few dollars more for a new toner from the manufacturer to eliminate any problems.Packaging and Product QualitySince this toner is manufactured by Samsung and is a new toner, the packaging was snazzy and intact and the toner came in a bubble tube that has a "zip strip" to open the tube without deflating it. In addition, you can use this tube to ship your empty toner back to Samsung. The package includes a sheet with instructions on how to prepare the box (you use the same one that your new toner came in), how to tape it shut, and even has the mailing label so that all you have to do it set it out for the mail carrier. How cool is that?In regards to installing the toner in my printer, it was a cinch. The toner comes ready-to-use; there is an orange strip that I had to pull off. Installing it was easy:1) I shook the toner from side to side to redistribute the toner powder evenly in the toner cartridge.2) I removed the orange foam protector that prevents the head of the toner from getting hair on it and also pads it to prevent any unwanted damages to the toner head itself. As a bonus, you can put this orange strip over the head of your old toner to prevent any errant toner powder from getting all over your hands.3) I removed the empty toner from my printer, set it aside, and then I slid the new toner in.4) I closed the cover, hit the green "Start" button on my printer, and watched as the "Empty Toner" light on my control panel turned off. Success!I had no issues with the printer reading the toner to realize that it was a new one and consequently had more than enough toner. I read another review that indicated their printer didn't recognize the new toner installation; I cannot imagine why that would be unless they were unlucky and got a defective data strip on their toner.Printing and UseAfter the easy install, I hopped on over to Coupons.com and printed up a page of coupons. To my huge satisfaction the toner printed perfectly and there were no indications of lighter edges as the toner began its life inside my printer (i.e. - lighter printing that got darker further down the page as the printer "warmed up" to the new toner cartridge, & etc). So far I have printed about 150 pages of coupons and various other documents and I have had no issues in regard to the print quality or any errant messages from my Samsung printer regarding the toner. In re: the old starter toner, I slid it inside the bubble tube, inserted it in the box that the new toner came in, taped the edges up and placed the prepaid mailing label on it as indicated in the accompanying instructions for the new toner. I placed it out in my mailbox (I have a large box as I receive a lot of small packages) and the USPS carrier took the package with no issues. To date the box has not be returned to me due to mailing issues and I assume that it made it to the Samsung Recycling Facility intact. Who knows, maybe my old toner cartridge has already been refilled and the coding reset and is in a new printer box, ready to be re-used by a new customer!OverallThis is a brand new Samsung toner cartridge, so unless you manage to get a 1) defective cartridge or 2) realize that this toner is not compatible with your printer, installation and your printer recognizing the toner should be a snap. As I mentioned above, my printer realized that this toner was a new cartridge and read the toner level immediately and turned off the "Low Toner" warning on my printer's control panel. The fact that the packaging can be reused immediately to recycle your old, empty toner is great as well. Especially the prepaid postage! So in addition to renewing my toner supply to print off my much-coveted coupons, I am also helping the environment by recycling my old toner rather than having it take up space in a landfill. In short, if you want a manufacturer's toner so you are not playing the odds on whether your printer will recognize it, this toner is your answer. It is priced modestly, comes to you in a nice box, is easy to install, and you can recycle your old toner. For me, all of this is a no-brainer!

One of the better toner cartridges I've ever owned.
In the past, buying a toner cartridge was something of a chore. I mean, who looks forward to wandering that aisle at the local office supply store; the one full of drab looking boxes, cryptic product descriptions and the inevitable lack of stock for the one particular cartridge you need? And what visceral pleasure is there in walking out of the store with this flat colored rectangular box? It's about as anticlimactic as it gets. But this cartridge--and ordering it through Amazon--kind of changed our lives.Samsung has smartly done away with the lengthy, cryptic part numbers for the cartridge. Now I can cheerfully go down to the office supply store and cry, "Samsung 101!" and the eager young sales staff, who are otherwise too busy texting and sexting one another, only have to glance at the shelves to see that it's out of stock. So we decided to do something we've never done before: we ordered this toner cartridge through Amazon. And life hasn't been the same since. Ordering online is always a bit of a letdown at first; there's the decision about what to buy (although now I could just cry "Samsung 101!" into the search bar), the nervousness about putting the credit card number into the website, and the moment of truth when "Confirm order" is clicked. And then ... nothing. But make no mistake. The elves at Amazon are working their magic. When the cartridge arrived in the mail, we found the box colorful and cheerful; optimistic about the bills and shopping lists and letters that we'd be printing. In bolt white letters it said "101", letting us know that we truly did have the right cartridge. Then we opened the box. The thick black plastic bag that housed the cartridge has some unknown gas in it that's a bit like a whippet; office supply nerds never get tired of that whiff. And the cartridge itself. That long, sleek, shiny black cylinder that exuded power and authority. A geared end meant to interface with the printer's tractor motor. This is dangerous stuff that can really take the torque. After the obligatory turning of the cartridge (to make sure its innards are fully lubricated, dusted, rejiggered, or whatever happens when you turn toner cartridges), we slid it into the printer. This printer is no fool; it knows when it's been given a new toner cartridge and it springs to life making the toner cartridge its own.Our marital bliss has never been better now that the shopping lists we print are so crisp. The blacks are unbelievably black. The whites are ... well, as white as the paper was going into the printer. There's absolutely nothing to not recommend this cartridge. I mean, even if you don't have a Samsung printer, it's well worth the buy.

Nothing beats the OEM
Delivered on time as promised. Worked first time without issues. Packaged well, and has instructions on a web site for recycling the old cartridge according to words on box, but I have not yet investigated/confirmed. I'm keeping the box and packing as I assume it will involve shipping back to the manufacturer. Can't give 5 stars until I find out how long it will last, but I assume it will be good as the original since it's from the OEM. I assume all users know that they can extend performance of their old cartridges by removing and shaking a bit to redistribute the power and re-inserting in machine after printing becomes noticeably weak. I did this at least 4 times before actually replacing the old cartridge. It's kind of like getting the last bit out of a toothpaste tube.

Great deal for a great print
Samsung toner does seem to last alot longer than inkjet printers. I love that I am able to print quickly and efficiently. The toner has yet to give us any issues. Its easy to change in the printer. We are able to print hundreds of pages. If we print full page , we get closer to 1,000 pages. However, if we print partial or less on a page we can get closer to what the manafacturer advertises which is 1500 pages.Toner isnt made to print pictures. But we are a homeschool family so printing is a must! We use this to print worksheets and coloring sheets. It has worked out very well for us. The cost works out too because you get so much more "print for your penny".The cost to order on amazon was about half the cost of our local office supply and less than Wal Mart as well. Terrific deal!
