Best case by Otterbox yet! Outshines the Commuter by a mile (or two)
So, i've been using Otterbox products for some time now. When i first got my S3 about six months ago, i immediately bought a Otterbox Commuter case. I always heard great things about them. The Commuter offers everything you could ask for in a case except perhaps slimness. That was my only gripe about it. It's just too bulky. Though that is okay. Anyways, i had been eyeing this case for a while now, wondering how it sized up to the Commuter. Well let me just say that it outshines it by quite a long ways. It continues in the Otterbox way of bulkiness, but somehow it seems significantly less so than the commuter. It doesn't feel as big in your pocket or your hand. I also like how they opted to use the two piece hard plastic inside and rubber outside, instead of the rubber inside and hard plastic outside of the Commuter. Not only is it easier to put on, it's more grippy and seems more sturdy. I always hated how hard it was to take the commuter on and off. This is perfect. It has a nice soft pad for the back of the phone to rest in, and the two pieces snap together nicely. Giving it a nice snug fit. The shape is also somewhat different. It has a more squared shape, which I honestly prefer. One thing that i didn't like about it is the crappy plastic screen protector that comes attaches to the front half of the hard plastic inside. At first i wasn't sure if it was a normal dry apply screen protector just attached to it to easily peel off and put on your phone. Wrong. It is actually glued to the inside. The protector is ridiculously thick and dulls down your screen resolution quite a bit. Personally i think it's a dumb idea, and the first thing i did was rip it out (I already have a Zagg HD protector on my phone), i didn't even really give it a chance.I don't know why they did that instead of just including a separate screen protector like they do with the Commuter. But there is obviously no advantage. If you do rip it out, make sure you get all the adhesive out of the inside rim, or else it will attract alot of dust.Other than that small inconvenience, this is an amazing case!Another cool thing about this case is that it comes with an awesome belt clip holster. I've been trying to find a belt holster that will actually fit my phone with or without a case on it. It's nearly impossible. They just don't make them for near 5 inch screens, or if they do, they won't fit with a case on it. And i honestly prefer a belt holster to having a rediculously huge lump in my pocket. Making me look perpetually excited. Otterbox solved that with a two in one case! The belt harness is made out of thick hard plastic, so there is almost no chance of breaking it. The case has clips on either side of it that snap into the harness allowing you to position it nearly any way you want. You can make it face up or down, or have the screen protected facing in, or facing out. Your choice. The belt clip on the back of the holster is of highest quality as well. It's spring loaded so you press it down to open the jaws and put on your belt. Much better than the metal ones that pinch so hard you can hardly get it on your belt. It also rotates around so you can put it on your belt horizontally or vertically. or if your a rebel, halfway in between. It makes an audible click for about every ten degrees you turn it, locking it into place. Albeit, it is a bit huge on your belt, but it is a huge phone. The other thing i want to talk about is everyone's complaint about the buttons being hard to press. I honestly disagree with this. You do obviously have to push harder than you would if there was no case but it's not a problem. You adjust to it very quickly. If you have owned a Commuter than you are already used to this, though they are easier to press on this model. Also the flaps that protect the headphone jack and charging jack couldn't be more perfectly placed. They fit in there nice and snugly when the jacks aren't in use (unlike the Commuter) and they pop out easily when you need to use them. The cut is also impeccable, lining up with them perfectly. You won't have any problem using any charger or headphone jack.So in conclusion; aside from my small complaint about the janky screen protector (which is easily remedied), I would say this is about the best case for the Galaxy S3 on the market. If you don't mind the slight bulkiness of a case, and are more concerned about protection, this is the one to get. It's worth every penny!

Excellent case, Excellent Protection
Purchased this case (atomic) just over a month now and i'm quite pleased with it so far. Otterbox lives up to its reputation of superb stylish protection with this case, offering great all-round protection for my Samsung Galaxy SIII. Case shipped quickly and on time with Amazon Prime and was received in good condition.Description -The case comprises of a hard plastic housing with a soft backing behind the phone, allowing for nice impact absorption. This is then housed inside a soft outer housing that fits snugly unto the hard plastic creating nice curved protective case. The front of the inner hard plastic is raised enough above the screen to prevent the face touching the ground in case of a fall and includes a built-in screen protector made of a sturdy plastic that does not hamper the sensitivity much. Note that the protective plastic does not cover the front camera, front sensors or the menu button. Top and bottom ports are properly covered by a soft flap of the outer layer. Camera, flash and speaker have openings at the back of the hard plastic with a deep enough pit to avoid objects and even fingers from coming into contact with them. Side buttons are built into the soft outer layer and are easy enough to press. The case also comes with a hard, sturdy belt clip that has a swivel attachment which can also pull out to create a stand for your phone (watching media etc). Notches are made into the hard plastic that fit snugly into the belt clip and when put face in, the phone is completely protected. What I Like -This case offers superb protection, with good layers inside and outside the case for shock absorption and scuff protection. Case has a good grip and is easily removed if the needs arises. I especially like the fact that there is enough of a raised edge along the side of the front for falls and pits at the back where the camera, speaker and flash are to avoid them being touched. What I Dislike -Although the raised edges provide nice screen clearance protection they do hamper some touch functionality, for E.G. trying to select text at the edge of the screen is a bit cumbersome as the space between the text start and the beginning of the hard plastic is very small, persons with large fingertips will have a hard time. The soft outer layer although good protection tends to get some marks and scratches, especially at the back. They aren't a big problem but you can definitely tell that the case will show it's age as time progresses. Finally the main thing I dislike is the built in screen protector. It's really a bitter sweet feeling as i like how neatly the cut outs are and the fact that it offers good scratch protection - but this comes at a price. The plastic is a bit thick, good for protection but bad for the 'feel' Without a protector this screen is amazingly smooth and sensitive and this protector takes away a lot of that feeling. The main problem with it however is the fact that the material is not completely clear, and causes pixelation when looking at the screen. This is expecially prominent when looking at something with a white background. It diminishes the experience of this amazing screen drastically. I would suggest removing the built-in protector and applying another super sensitive protector such as the Zaag Invisible Shield HD Screen Protector. NOTE. using a screen protector along with the build in protector can be done, and surprisingly enough the fone is still sensitive enough to use without problem, however the two protectors tend to stick together and you can feel that there is a space between them at times.Overall I love this case, and although the colours are limited compared to those offered in the Commuter cases, the protection that it offers is worth it. I Give this case 4 stars and not 5, due to the built in protector that I chose to remove. I will definitely be looking for Otterbox protection for my devices as I have done in the past and this being my first Defender experience, I must say I am very well pleased,UPDATE:The Inner rubber lining began to deterioate in condition after the review to the point where it no longer held on to the lip. Although it was usable, it simply was not nice to look at, and eventually the rubber itself lost pliability. Friends of mine with different colours also experiences similar issues, one even saying it seemed like his suffered from some type of dry rot. This seems unsual for OTTERBOX products, maybe with this model? The commuter version seems to last longer.I have since switched to a Ballistic Case, around 10 months or so and its still strong and stylish as ever.

Protects really well but too big and didn't last very long
It's a very protective case so if you want ultimate protection then it does that well, but I only used it when I was out walking, climbing or doing activities I knew would be rough on a phone! I found myself taking it off at the end of the day and putting my phone in something thinner because this case is huge, way to big to put in your jeans and go out as a casual case! Which defeats the object of a case to some point!I have had this case for a year now and it's basically not worth using, after a couple months the rubber warped to the point when it would have gaps around it, and only recently the built in screen protector has fallen out as the glue has obviously been defeated by use!

Durable
It is perfect and has the durability I was looking for. I have gone through 3 before finding this. The area for the power plug is big enough to allow me any used mini usb plug.
