The M1903 Springfield Rifle (Weapon, 23)

The rifle the USA used to defend itself for decades, mostly in WWI, substantially in WWII, and beyond. Its development and impact are amazing. We own one, enjoy its history and stories, and we enjoy shooting it (targets).

I really enjoy learning how firearms development takes place and the continuous improvement that goes into making a certain caliber or firearm perfect

This is a great book on the history and development of the Springfield M1903, 1903A3, and 1903A4 rifle. This will answer almost any question you may have with this rifle.

This book is highly detailed for something its size. It not only covers the main 1903 springfield model and the wars it was in, but also the variants. Hopefully, other books in the series are just as good or better.

All of the books in this "series" on historical weapons are generally well written and have nice photos. They all are on the short side though, and kind of leave you wanting more, wishing for another 10 or 12 pages to go just a little more in depth. Overall if your just looking for a nice history of the 1903 in this case, these are a worthy read.

I bought this book The M1903 Springfield Rifle (Weapon) by Leroy Thompson from Amazon shortly before Christmas. It was delivered very quickly without paying extra. The book is interesting with excellent photographs and illustrations. This is a short book only 80 pages. The thing that I did not like about the book was the author's writing style. There is no chronological order what so ever. There is no need for page numbers or chapters. He skips around so much it was very difficult to follow. It's a good thing it's so short.

My husband has an avid interest in Springfield rifles. This book was a good source of information. Don't hesitate to order.

This is a good book. Lots of interesting information. The sequence of topics and grey boxes is a little confusing and it lacks some timeframe sequence. Overall I liked this book. It covers a lot and there is plenty of nice photos, diagrams, paintings and other visual references. I just wish it would be better organized.

top book, its an xmass present for myself so looking forward to reading it

Why are the photos in the online version blurry? Wouldn't be acceptable in a physical book, surely.

A very good concise summary of the development and service life of the '03 without going to minute detail that may only be of interest to the advancer collector. The cutaway pictures are good as are the explainations of their inner working. So far the whole series have been very good with input from persons who have actually used these guns.
