Sturdy.
The media could not be loaded. At first, I thought I had screwed up. I got the heavier duty, that is rated for up to a 35hp. I'm only mounting a Briggs and Stratton 5hp 4-stroke on it, and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to manipulate it without enough weight on the springs. Once I got it mounted, I was able to pry the arms apart, as I pushed down on the motor and get it to move down. After doing that a couple of times, I was able to get it to move into the lower positions without a tremendous amount of effort. Which is good, because I had already drilled holes in my boat. LoL I'm taking it out this coming weekend. We'll see if there's any noticeable difference in the performance. These little B&G motors have plenty of torque, but no high-end, so I may not see any. I wish there was some adjustment for the plate. And I'm a little worried about the plate being plastic, but it's very solid, and easy to replace with a piece of laminated plywood later if I decide I need to. For the price, I'm happy with it. It might be worth mentioning, that while I'm using this for a jackplate, it's primary use appears to be an auxiliary motor bracket.

Panther Kicker Bracket
This bracket overall is solid and I would definitely buy it again. The cons is that it is made to mount onto a transom that is vertical, my transom is slightly angled (20 Proline Walk i/o) so when the engine in mounted the weight pulls the top of the mounting plate backwards and the bottom of the mounting plate forward binding the two parallel bars so the bracket does not lower. When I lower it I have to trim the kicker so that the weight does not cause the bars to bind. Additionally the bracket is designed to mount so that the handle is above the transom. If the bracket is mounted where the transom is higher than the top of the mounting board the handle/lever will not be able to be fully actuated. I had to modify the handle by cutting it about 3/4 inch and re-drilling it to allow the handle to be fully actuated. Would be nice if the design of the handle was slightly bent to rearward or towards the engine mounting board.

Very well made
This unit is very well made and not done with cheep materials. It does exactly what it is designed for and the installation was easy to do. I added the panther remote to it and all works wonderfully. PS the spring system is strong but works exactly like it should when it is installed on the boat

Needs weight to lower mount
People were complaining about bracket not being able to move. One person loosened all the bolts to get bracket to release. I hung three 30 lb anchors on mine to replace the weight of 9.9 Honda. Bracket works as advertised. No loosening of anything. The spring is heavy duty. It won’t give with no weight. Ready for the lakes

Defective?
What's the trick to lower a Yamaha four stroke that is around 114 lbs. My friend who is over 200 pounds couldn't get it to move downward either. Yes the plastic knobs were backed all the way off and handle pulled back. It was not in the tilt up position but trimmed down.Called manufacture and found out more information and works great. Cancelled return. You have to find the right spot and push DOWN on the handle. Thanks Chris who I called at Panther Maunfacturing.

This is a good one
Ordered this lift to replace old lift that collapsed while we were going down the highway. The Panther lift is well made and installed in the existing holes. We did have a problem with the lift not moving up or down after it was installed. Called Panter Marine and their tech guy told us this is a problem they see from time to time. He told us the lift was the correct one for our outboard and to force it down. So we used a pry bar in between the scissor part of lift. It broke lose and went down and up with ease. It now works perfectly.

Poor quality control or engineering
This company that Marinetech products Inc.that shipped this product to me has a major problem with their customer service department. I called 2 times left a message each time asking why their products paperwork showing me the dimensions for the locations of the hole pattern required to mount this product. I needed to make a spacer to mount this the way I wanted it on my sailboat. I spent days making this spacer and decided to machine this in a CNC mill so I could be sure the holes were on location and square. I wrote the program per the instructions I received with the product. DO NOT FOLLOW THESE DIMENSIONS THEY GIVE YOU!!!!!! After this whole process the holes are not located where they say The distance 6.500 is actually 6.650 a difference if .150 almost half the diameter of the screw that is required by their instructions. The dimension 2-3/4” the distance between 2 hole patters actually measures 2-3/8” a difference of .375 So as you can see the part does not match the pattern they give you in their instructions. Apparently they expect you to put their part against your boat and use it as the jig for the hole pattern. The worst thing is they just won’t call me back or even answer the phone during business hours stated in their phone message.
