Great vacuum, just what I need.
Prologue:I bought a Dyson V10 because of the claim it is as good as a mains vacuum and indeed it is very good - for 7 minutes, then a 3.5hr charge. It is only capable of up to an hour use on lowest power setting with a tool that has no motor brush, ie a crevice tool. The battery got pretty hot with full power use. I'm not happy with hot lithium ion batteries inside my house!Speaking to Dyson about this they acknowledged the heat and said its not designed to have its battery quickly changed because 2 screws are needed to get access. So use cannot be extended.I was told it is not meant to be run on full power all the time either due to reliability issues.I had a real struggle with their support, they are terrible until you escalate your case. Then they are great.Luckily they have a trial period and pay the return shipping if you can take it to a post office or Parcelforce. So I went on the hunt for another vacuum and bought the Miele CX1 Cat and Dog.This is what I was after. It is a lot more powerful. As good as the Dyson V10 was (which is surprisingly good), this pulls even more from the carpet with the pet tool. The comments that it can lift the carpet on high power and it is a real sod to release one of the fine dust sections are true. The main dust compartment is very well designed and simple to detach and empty. It is pretty quiet for the power.Only one issue, a small price to pay for a great vacuum.A slight downside:For my other troubles (I wont go into it), Dyson let me keep a long bristle brush that is great for keyboard cleaning so I hollowed out the fittings and glued it up so a tube can go straight in ready for the Miele. But when the Miele arrived I found its tubes are much fatter and I will need to mod the brush again so it can be inserted into the Miele tube instead. Not so good if you want to use your old tools from other vacuums. But if you want this level of power you need this fat a tube or a ton more powerful/noisier motor.5 tools came with the Miele, some hidden away. There is a craftily hidden mini curtain etc cleaning tool on the rear, a shortish crevice tool on the rear, a multi floor/rug cleaning tool (handy for my rugs!), the very good pet tool and another craftily hidden brush tool hidden away slid back on the handle. But I would like longer bristles to fully clean a keyboard. Only the £20 Floorhead tool looks like it might work but the bristles still seem to be short and too fat to get in between keys.So I'll stick with my modded Dyson tool.It is just light enough (unheavy enough may be the better word :)) to hold while on the steps to a bunk bed where my cat has chosen to sleep, while vacuuming with the other hand. The handle on the hose makes this an easy task.Speaking of which my cat is long haired with really fine hair. Incredibly soft but an incredible pita to get out of carpets. This vacuum is up to the task. The handle on the hose is fantastic, why dont other vacuums have this? It makes everything so much easier.Overall a first class vacuum and even looks quite cool.

Great in every possible way
Everything about this vacuum is wonderful. Powerful suction, light and easy to carry and not particularly noisy. The box is not very large so it does have to be emptied often but this is very easy to do. Likewise cleaning the filter. The moving parts are all throughly heavy duty so no breaking of clips or switches with use. Robust, easy to use, easy to care for and maintain, does a really good cleaning job, both in terms of suction and access to corners, under furniture etc. I have a medium sized house, 2 cats, 2 dogs and a messy family, my vacuum gets a lot of hard use. This is the second Miele I have had, the first lasted more than a decade and only died because someone tried to suck up a puddle with it.

Loyal Dyson customer for many years- won't look back after changing to Miele
I've been an loyal Dyson client for about 20 years and would never have considered anything else had it not been for my partner who thinks that our last Dyson was heavy, old, inefficient and expensive. I always bought top of the range Dyson Animal versions but after reading reviews and researching Miele, the Blizzard CX1 comfort was our choice. We don't pay VAT in Guernsey so at £225ish, it was a bargain and cheaper than a matching Dyson.Well...not only is the thing very light, the wheels are smooth on our wooden floor and glide effortlessly. The hard floor head is huge and swivels enabling me to get in all the nooks and right up to the skirts and corners. It stores neatly upright and takes up less space than the Dyson did. The thing I love for convenience is the controls for suction and the on off button on the telescopic handle which makes stopping and starting really easy and convenient ( no more reaching all the way back to the main hoover). Also the retracting cable button just zips that cable right in all the way at great speed. The noise is much quieter than the Dyson and emptying the bagless bucket is easy. Telescopic rod is retractable and adjustable.I have nothing bad to say about this hoover after a month and it's made hoovering such a pleasure that even my partner doesn't mind it! ( That alone is worth the money!!) Plus, not to mention Miele are known for great quality built stuff. Overall- AMAZING HOOVER, highly recommended.

Extraordinary
I have been a Miele owner for over a decade and thought it was time to go bagless. I had a go at this hoover and I cannot get over its suction power. I had seen in other reviews that it was strong enough to actually pull up carpet and I can corroborate. So I do need to be careful with the edges of some of the older carpet but the fact of the matter is that this hoover generates some serious suction. A few minor niggles are that it creates dust strings. It’s clearly bringing up dust that hasn’t been removed over the years and creates strings of dust. To the extent that I have to suck these up directly by detaching the pipe and using the hand intake. However, as I have been using this new hoover more often this has been less of an issue of late. The other thing to be mindful of is that its power does make it quite a workout to push the head across carpet and I say this as a 6’5” man. But with the handy thumb controls, if it is getting tough to push then you can easily reduce power at the touch of a button. One last niggle is that the small brush head that comes with it does not click in anywhere with the other two tools. Personally, not such an issue as I carry this in my pocket as I hoover but worth bearing in mind.Emptying the dust bin is easy. Yes, it will need periodical cleaning but any appliance needs general upkeep. The other great thing is that on those occasions when you hoover up something you hadn’t intended it is visible and more easily retrievable than a bagged hoover. It is slightly more bulky than my last Cat and Dog but still just about fits in the same cupboard. Sitting it on the stairs as you hoover can be a bit precarious. As for its weight, while I haven’t looked up the actual weight of this and my old machine, this does feel lighter.I only hope that it retains its suction because if it does then this is a seriously good piece of kit.
