STERILITE 70 Quart/66 Liter Ultra Latch Box, Clear with a White Lid and Black Latches, 4 Pack

I ordered these because of the high star rating -- did not notice how many customers reported broken containers. Sure enough, mine arrived broken too. How these can be rated so highly with so many complaints is beyond me.The real weakness appears to be in the corners, which were knocked in and splintered (and yet the shipping container was ok -- how fragile are these things?) However two also had splits in these sides. There were shards of broken plastic all over the inside to of shipping box.Because I had no intact ones to use in comparison, I can only make the observation that these seem make of a thinner plastic then the ones I have that were purchased at the bullseye big box store.I decided to order from Amazon because I didn't want to have to buy buy them in a brick and mortar store, load them into my car and haul them home. Instead I had to pack these back up, load them into my car and haul them to UPS to return them. Not a good deal.

I have ordered these containers in the past and been very pleased with them. This time, however, two of the containers arrived with significant cracks in the bottom and one with a small shattered pieces section missing on the bottom. Since I probably can use the two damaged ones for larger, lighter items, I guess they will be okay for that but again, I am disappointed because these containers are supposed to be well made considering what I paid for them.

We purchased 24 of these to help make our move easier. While it did the job and got us moved, the handles broke on more than half of them and we ended up having to tape the lids on. If I would have had more time, I would have returned them and gotten something built better! Now that we are moved, I have less than half of them that I can even use for storage now, the rest are in the garbage. I purchased it because it says it was an Amazon best seller. Don't do it. Take them time and money to purchase something more durable.

Deceptively big, these containers do appear exceedingly sturdy.Just because the container CAN hold 70 quarts worth of stuff doesn't mean you should pile it in to the brim with heavy stuff. There is a weight limit, especially if you are stacking them, or worse - carrying them. I was able to get in most of my trading-card and paraphernalia collection, which is good. For my mother's porcelain dolls, this was large enough - cradled in with a flurry of soft stuffed animals.For my notes, and years of papers (I keep my notes since high school!) I was able to fit in a good portion into these containers - but opted for a related product here: https://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-19859806-Quart-Latches-6-Pack/dp/B002BA5F5C which does a fine job as well. You can easily get two piles of notes, with some standing on their side into the 70 quart container, but you will do better with two 30-quart containers instead (it'll stack as one pile of 8 1/2 by 11.) A more efficient use of these 70-quart containers is for long, or larger items that cannot be folded, or are better left in their bulkier original packaging (wiring, cables and utilities for the computer as an example.)There is a chance that you may be inconvenienced if one arrives cracked (one of mine actually did from the 30 gallon,) but Amazon is pretty good about replacing within a few days. Anything can crack in shipping, and these are not immune. These do stack without an issue, though care should be given for not too much weight (I'd cap it at about 30-35 pounds total stacked on top) These containers are polypropylene (recycling number 5) which is the same as most plastic chairs (meaning it will tolerate on the order of 180-200 pounds of human flesh if evenly distributed,) but if you're going for long term storage, you want as little mechanical stress as possible.

I purchased these same brand and type of storage boxes in 2014. They have withstood having other heavy storage boxes stacked on top of them. Unlike some other types of storage boxes I have purchased in the past, these are of heavyweight construction and do not buckle. The handles are very study and lock firmly in place.I have "cheaper" totes that the lids are thin and fairly worthless and did not last the passage of time.The lids are "indented" to allow sturdy and stable stacking. They are of very fine quality and workmanship. I was happy to see the price was still affordable.They are huge and hold a lot of stuff. I agree with another reviewer said, that you do not want to fill them too full if you plan on lifting them by yourself. I have reams of copy paper and packages of photo paper in one. It is quite heavy, but everything is protected and does not buckle when other totes are placed on top of them.Price is 12.05 higher since 2014, but worth the increased price. Comes out to 15.51 per storage boxI am, also, very satisfied and glad that they are shipped and sold by Amazon. I try to purchase everything from Amazon that is shipped and sold by Amazon. No offense, 3rd party sellers, I just like to do it that way whenever possible.I cannot think of anything that I do not like about these storage boxes.

Sturdy, lightweight, good price.I use these in the basement to store crap, like xmas decor, costumes, other things that should probably get tossed away. It keeps them moisture free (a problem in my basement), protected, and I can see inside easily if I happen to forget to label.They're not too massive that I can't pick them up easily, not so small that I can't fit lots of crap inside. Just right.

Theses are just as described and pictured, shipped on time and no pieces were missing or broken. 4 stars because they were not packaged well. I'm using these to store items in the shed so hopefully they hold up.
