Wonderful tribute to Mike Vraney, Lisa Petrucci, and the legacy of Something Weird Video!
42d Street Pete's zine GRINDHOUSE PURGATORY is a great, entertaining read. Many of the articles relate personal experiences and recollections from Pete and the other various authors related to grindhouse cinema and the fabled 60's, 70's and 80's era 42d Street in New York City, so there is always something new here that you have not read somewhere else. This particular issue is a tribute to Something Weird Video, the brainchild of Mike Vraney and Lisa Petrucci. Something Weird Video was responsible for saving hundreds of exploitation films from being lost forever, and for re-introducing the works of grindhouse film makers like Andy Milligan, Harry Novak, Doris Wishman, David F. Friedman and Herschell Gordon Lewis to a new audience by making these films available on home video (many for the first time). Vraney sadly passed away in 2014, but Lisa Petrucci still keeps his legacy alive.GRINDHOUSE PURGATORY is an unapologetic, "in-your-face" zine, but is always entertaining and the passion for grindhouse and exploitation films shines through with every issue. Recommended!!

Halcyon Days of Exploitation Cinema!!
Great magazine covering the height of the Grindhouse period of Movie Exhibition in the 60's, 70's and early 80's happening on 42nd Street (aka the Deuce, in NYC), as well as the urban theaters & Drive-Ins of Mainstream USA, plus other oddball culture (i.e. Pro Wrestling) of the period. Trust me - you had to be there to appreciate it.

Great tribute issue for the legendary SWV label.
42nd Street Pete pays homage to the label that gave him a World Wide Voice. Other writers join in and share why a company that released public domain and 8mm “smut” has such a loyal following. A great starting place for the uninitiated of both Something Weird and Grindhouse Purgatory. Recommended.

Excellent Grindhouse Cultural Review
I started reading a copy that I'd downloaded onto my Kindle, out of curiosity, while on a cross-country flight, with no WiFi. So I was stuck with whatever was already on my Kindle.Wow! This is great!I ordered all of the other copies I could get, soon after. You should, too.

Pick this issue up and learn all about the origins of this hipster collection and get ready for hours of entertainment.

Glorified catalog...
Terrible writing: Syntax, grammar, no point of view...you name it. Not even close to SLEAZOID or Gore Gazette, etc. And I Really doubt this "42nd Street Pete" character was even around back in the day - never heard of him (from back in the day, anyway). Posers and nerds, this bunch.
