I understand you get what you pay for but other than price i see no difference to the jet 708620b. anyone regret buying this unit over the jet?

Sorry for the extremely late reply, but I thought others might still be comparing the WEN and JET models of air cleaners. The WEN 3417 or 3415T are the units which should be compared directly to the JET 708620b. Those units have virtually identical CFM and hardware specs to the JET. The WEN 3410 you referenced in this question is made for a much smaller space and pumps a lot less air, so it's not really a valid comparison. Compare equivalent models that have similar CFM ratings in order to get a fair idea of how the two brands truly compare. In that scenario, the WEN is a very good alternative to the JET, particularly given the shipping damage many owners have reported when purchasing the JET unit. The units are likely pretty equal, but using poor packaging which provides inadequate shipping protection can turn any 5-star product into a 1-star doorstop. I always check the percentages of 5-star and 1-star reviews to get an idea of the ratio of customers having problems versus perfectly happy customers. You might have a different method.

How does a person know when it is time to change the filter

I take a black sharpie and put black lines on the new filter when I can no longer see the lines I know its time to replace.

Do the filters come with the unit or do you need to buy them separately ?

The unit comes with filters. Replacement you have to buy separately.

What size room does this cover?

i think it would work fine for a 2 car garage it states it can filter 400 cubic feet per minute on high i use it with another ambient air cleaner to filter the air in my sharpening business shop which about 600 s.f.
