Sucks you right in...
I didn't want to like this book. It had some trite sayings that make me crazy. I did, however get sucked up into the story and didn't want to put it down. It was sexy and suspenseful. I loved the character "Blackwell".

Started off strong but petered out into something clique and ends on a weak note.
I like a good romance every now and then, especially a romance with strong personality characters. Even more so when there's something else going on besides all the romance and sexual tension. Annihilate Me starts off well, Volume 1 introduces Jennifer as a strong willed, sexy yet equally smart woman trying to get her start working in New York City fresh out of business school. She's been struggling to make ends meat with her best friend author. Insert scene where she meets hot, successful guy Alex who she quickly develops an attraction to and let the budding romance bloom from there. Of course not without it's hiccups and personality clashes between both Jennifer and Alex but that sums up the first Volume and a half. After that, that's when the story begins to fall apart for me. After these two hit it off then the author decides to add a mystery suspense element that is approached with such ridiculousness it gets frustrating to read. By the 4th book I lost complete interest in the story. In the last two volumes of the series our characters are shot at and have their lives threatened repeatedly. Cue completely unbelievable scenes where Jennifer and Alex out smart and out gun trained killers. At some point Jennifer and Alex retreat to his private island then they come back repeat a few more times of being threatened trying to catch the bad guy then everyone comes out smelling like roses.I just thought the whole mystery part of who's out to get them go from being filler to turning into a major plot point. It just wasn't well done. For someone who's so smart the minute she lands a billionaire boyfriend Jennifer loses a good deal of common sense and does things that make you wonder how on earth is this girl still alive. How about we don't make her go out on to a secluded roof top to sneak in some alone time with Alex when they're trying to catch a killer. Also if you aren't sure who's on the other side of a door maybe you shouldn't open it.The way she kept bringing up her being a "Maine girl" as if it's supposed to signify she has some sort of reputation to uphold irked me every time I read it. "Maine girls don't run away from trouble." "Maine girls tell it like it is." I might not have seen the arrogance in the first book but it's reinforced throughout the series. And it's disappointing because there were a few moments where you root for her and being the odd person out in such a different world. Then it's shattered when she asks for another martini and feels fine after shooting a guy dead. For someone who didn't want to run from trouble you'd think she'd be more proactive in trying to discover who was after her and Alex. Alas, she just passes the info onto her security team and Alex then finds a pretty dress to act as bait. I would consider getting krav maga lesson or something because when you get shot at and constantly sent death threats you might consider doing something that gives you a semblance of taking control of the situation. There are some great characters, I fell in love with Ms. Blackwell. She might not be from Maine but she's earned her titles all the same. Her exchanges with Jennifer, Lisa or just about anyone were heartfelt, equal parts a mother's hug and venomous when necessary. Watching her development through the series makes me wish that some parts of her rub off on Jennifer before she turns into one of those blithering trophy wives once she's married to Alex. Overall I felt this series started out strong but had a weak finish. I feel like I'd just be setting myself up for disappointment were I to continue with the other books in this series.

This is a special kind of love.
This is the story of Alex & Jennifer. Alex inherited Wenn Enterprises from his father. Jennifer applied for a secretarial job, even though she has a degree in business. She had a falling out with the woman who interviewed her. She met Alex in the elevator and didn’t know who he was and spilled her story to him. She got a call the next day to come in for an Executive Assistant position for him. It lands up that Alex needs an escort for functions. She accepts it. She’s making a phenomenal salary, and free clothes and jewelry. She is going to pose as his girlfriend. There is chemistry between them. Through all the walls they set up for themselves, and all the ups and down they go through, all prevails in the end. I loved the two main charactes, and the secondary ones. I have to say that the woman who interviewed her in the beginning, Blackwell, was a truly special character. There is a lot of action in this box set. There is love, devotion, suspense, mystery, and most of all love. This is a great box set, and it’s one you won’t be able to put down. Christina Ross keeps you engrossed from beginning to end. Moving on to read more of her books.

Totally Unexpected....Thankfully no cliffhangers
This Book was a complete surprise. I put off reading it for a really long time because I had a false perception of what it was about. I could not remember why I bought it, but remembered I got a deal on it.Today, I told myself that I would start it, and if it turned out to be crap, I would just remove it from my Kindle. It took the entire day, but I could not put it down. I was so pleasantly surprised and entertained.I absolutely loved Blackwell. The difference between Blackwell in her first appearance and subsequent Blackwell, was a hoot. Never saw it coming.I liked Jennifer. She seemed much more mature than someone in the mid-twenties, but that could be due to her background. I loved the friendship between Jennifer and Lisa, the loyalty and honesty.Watching Alex and Jennifer's relationship unfold made for a very unexpected journey. For some reason, I expected this to be full of sex scenes. They had a relationship that built and developed as the book moved forward. Do not get me wrong, there are sex scenes. Some more detailed than others, but this book is mostly about their relationship and overcoming adversity.Alex seemed to be so grounded and patient. He waited while Jennifer worked out her issues and didn't force anything on her.I also have to admit that I had a suspicion about the person wreaking havoc in Alex and Jennifer's lives, but that wasn't until almost the very end. Actually, right before the big reveal. To be honest, I do not know if I would have enjoyed this book as much if I had read it one volume at a time. In fact, I KNOW that I probably would not have gone past the first book. Having all four volumes in one book is a definite selling point for me.I enjoyed reading this so much that I am going to purchase the holiday book, and move on to Lisa and Tank's book.

It alienated me
Where do I even start. The first book had a good beginning with likeable characters, then it went downhill from there. From the moment she attends her first party it went on repeat. Designer dresses, portentous people, and the main character turned into the very people she fought against.A size 0 is not perfect, reality check. By the end of this book I simply didn't care if they died of not because it was like a stuck record. It was however well written otherwise and heavily detailed but far too long, books one and four would have sufficed. It would have been better. Books two and three are just waffle about designer clothes, eating salad and nothing. One character seemed hellbent on promoting staving oneself by eating nothing but salad and in order to be healthy or perfect in her eyes is to be a size 0. Totally offensive. At least the main character ate a burger. The storyline was simple and easy to follow.Really disappointed considering the money I paid. The book didn't live up to the hype.

It started out so strong...
But unfortunately in my opinion it didn't finish the same way.First book (or should I say series) I read by this author. I'm not sure if this was one of her first projects or if she's been doing it for long. But in the first two books of this series I thought "wow! What a good new writer I found here!".Now I must come clean, I don't usually read mysteries because the angst of trying to figure out who did it keeps me hooked to the book and ignoring life. As a mom, I can't let that happen often. So here's the problem. This series hooked me. But I didn't get the pay off.I absolutely HATE when the culprit is a surprise and appears only at the end. I find it cheap. The suspects I had found were more interesting (because its usually someone you least expect, right? So I actually thought at one point that it was poor Tank because he had a thing with Diana and she was the one he dated for 5 years and he caught her cheating - wild. I know! But the author went on and on about Tank so much that I thought "he's the unsuspecting villain, right?"). Anyway, the surprise villain left me with a nasty taste in my mouth. Enough that I would have given it a 2 stars. But here's the saving grace: Barbara! What a character! I love, love, love her! Divon, Divon, Divon.Heroine and hero were lovely characters and I liked their struggles and personal growth.Unfortunately there was also a lot of telling/information dump for my taste. I prefer showing. The author tried to get around that by making it duologue between 2 characters. But in my opinion it was still telling instead of showing. If she had used it more sparingly it would have been better/gone unnoticed. But all of the heroine' struggles were just telling. I felt so cold for her to talk so easily about her abuse - I didn't see/feel the cost of it. Sure, one could say she was dissociating from her past/trauma. But I don't think that's what the author was going for. I liked that she fought against her past so she could fall in love. And perhaps if I hadn't read the 4 books in one go I wouldn't have picked up on that. But yeah, this is my opinion - you can take it or leave it.The sexy time was good. The secondary characters were quite involved and were well developed (I love when that happens - because every fictional book deserves 3d secondary characters to help move the plot along). But the real winner here is Ms Blackwell. What a joy it was to meet this character. She's a force to be reckoned with! After all my complaining above, do I still recommend this book? Yes, yes I do.It's not perfect and it won't stay with me. But it was enjoyable even if slightly upsetting to me. But this isn't real life. Its a book that didn't follow my expectations. The author still put a lot of effort into it. Clearly she had a lot to say about being an author and the industry via Lisa's character - and I also loved that! So yeah, you may not have the same issues with it that I had. So give it a try. It won't hurt anyone.

Insanely poor writing
I don't know where to start! It starts off ok, but then becomes boring and repetitive. The "writer" may have written this so it's an easy read, but it's so poor that it could have been written by a GCSE student for an English Literature class. The dialogue is repetitive, and the characters tell a back story as part of what should be a simple dialogue. I especially dislike the, "In fact,..." which happens A LOT. The Jennifer character not only becomes boring, but unlikeable. She's a nosy upstart who is written as though she's being helpful, but comes across incredibly annoying. She's meant to be someone who studied "business" but you never actually read about that in any detail, which might be intentional. All the books are terribly written and though there are reviews that the Fifty Shades series is badly written, that is a literature masterpiece compared to this pile of nothing. If I could give it 0 stars, I would, but I can't, and I guess I'll make that 1 star purely for the fact that you don't need a brain to read these. Avoid this series!!

Incredibly romantic - awesome in every way!💕
Riveting sexual attraction, danger, death threats, peril and steamy romance. Add a handsome billionaire and what's not to love? An excellent series with well crafted characters and an original plot. LOVED THIS. So much so I'm into the next set of stories. Thanks CR for an absolute cracker. ❤💕💘💋
