DaiwaSaltiga SASD50HA Conv Star Drag Reel

I own many star- and lever-drag conventional (multiplier) reels. I use a Saltiga 50 HA for heavy-class surf fishing (GTs, sharks, and drums) and 40–50 lb offshore fishing (fly-lining live baits and casting surface irons). It's filled with 200 yards of 65 lb braid running line and about 200 yards of 40 lb mono top-shot line. Saltigas are the best star drags around, and it was worth the price. The quality and ergonomics are unsurpassed.

This Saltiga is my go to for Mutton and Grouper bar none.I have two Accurates and this outperforms them. Not the best comparison based on size as the others are outstanding on their own.

Amazing piece of engineering!

Fishing reels are one of those things where everyone has their favorite, and this is mine. Fit and finish are second to none on the Saltiga. I have several in probably every size Daiwa offers and have never had an issue.

I’ve had mine for about 4 years. I own multiple high quality star drag reels, including Shimano Trinidad’s, Okuma Tesoro’s, Accurate Terns, Penn Torques, as well as Daiwa Saltigas. I like them all but I feel the Saltigas are the best of all of them. They are very well made, smooth, great drags, great free spool, cast well, well anodized. I highly recommend these reels.

I have purchased and used reels from all the top manufacturers and I must say that I am very impressed with this reel. The fit and finish is superb, retrieve is like butter, the drag is super smooth, free spool is excellent, and the handle is super comfortable. I plan on using the reel to jig for tuna and amberjack at the Texas oil platforms and will spool it with 65# braid with either 50# or 60# fluorocarbon top shot. The reel should hold about 400 yd's of 65# braid and with a drag capacity of 25#, the reel will be able to handle the big ones. I've never had a warranty problem with any Daiwa reel and I expect this top-of-the-line reel to be no different. This reel is considered to be the best star drag reel made and at this price, I highly recommend it.

Amazing tough reel .

I purchased this fishing reel with the hesitation that it may be fake because of the price. Not only did I receive the fishing reel earlier than the original delivery date but I must say that this is an of 100% authentic fishing reel from Daiwa. I’m leaving pictures and this great review to let all you other anglers know that this is real people get yours now. After receiving my first one right after I placed an order for a second one just because it was common sense for that price hope this helps you out
