Lots and lots and lots of connections
Haven't finished installing it yet, but wanted to say it takes a lot of work if you're a novice at this type of installation. Being able to follow wires and schematics and understanding relay concepts is NECESSARY. Just a general understanding of electronics is necessary. I'm installing on an 81 Corvette with power locks and windows. Connecting the remote start even though they're tricky for carbureted cars. There isn't a detailed manual in the box, but a google search can yield a couple of results. The 5701 manual has good descriptions of the same wires in this kit. DIRECTED also have a consolidated installation guide for the 5906, 5706, 5806,and 5606 systems online. The both of them should give you all the information you need to install....if you have the electronics know how. Personally, I would say take it to an installer.EDIT: If you're determined to install this yourself, here are some notes:1) use diodes on the door trigger wires with the cathode on the alarm side and the anode on the door jamb switch side.2) If you run into a programming problem where the alarm module and command center don't respond to programming, disconnect the door trigger wire (green or violet) and put it to ground. Programming should then work. Dont know why, but it does.3) After making some connection adjustments, for some reason the alarm had to be reset to factory settings and then reprogrammed. Minimum work, but I'm not totally sure why it was necessary. The remote controller doesn't require this step.4) In my install, A total of 10 relays were used; 4 for the door lock switch and motor, 4 for power window automation, 1 for horn honk output, and another for my push start button.5) create multiple reachable ground points by drilling holes into the frame and inserting a screw/bolt and a washer and nut.6) Get yourself an automotive terminal/fuse box with about 10 circuits/connections. The one I have has LED indicators on each circuit. Got it from Amazon. It's great if you're needing multiple 12V feeds. However, if you use on a wire that already already has a fuse holder attached, you have to remove the fuse holder by cutting it off to make a straight wire- otherwise, if you leave it on then connect it straight to the positive terminal on the batteryThought I had a bad unit, but after a multitude of fiddles, all used connections work- well I haven't remote started yet but I'm pretty confident it at least try to crank.FYI: Insanity sounds did not respond to my email when i thought my unit was bad.

Intended for dealers/installers
For a DIY installer (but my third alarm/remote start), be warned this is not for the faint of heart!! The process of installing is not unlike any other remote start/alarm combo...ignition wire 1, 2, accessory, ground, siren in engine bay.... however where this system will leave you in the dark is a detailed description of exactly what all the pins and wires DO. It's only half the battle to understand what wires are what in your vehicle, you also need to understand the system and what connections are required to operate properly. This is where a system like this, primarily marketed towards dealers, will leave you holding the bag. A quick start install guide is included, but basically only gives a name for each wire, and how to program keyfobs and features. Online forums are your friend, and be prepared to spend AT LEAST an entire day mapping wires to you vehicle and application. All in all, very reliable, quality product. Happy with range, and vast amount of install versatility it provides. But if you're simply looking to add a system for a friend or family member who doesn't care about brand or features, save yourself some headache and go with a more consumer oriented brand (crime stopper, etc)7/7/2015 UPDATE:System has been working great - I put my first set of batteries in a month ago, so 6 months worth of life from the factory batteries - note bad. Once they start going the alarm becomes very annoying - it didn't actually die, I just got tired of hearing the low-battery warning!Range is phenomenal - in fact I just stopped what I was doing to comment on this. I'm on the 14th floor of a library - my truck is a good 15 walk from the library. Cloudy day (which does help), and NOT line-of-site, but received confirmation lock on my first keypress holding it up to the nearest window. Awesome!

VERY COOL SOPHISTICATED SYSTEM - READ COMMENTS
Very sophisticated system. Selling dealer was very prompt shipping, good price. Now, with that being said, I was not happy at all with the documentation to install the remote start portion of the system. The low amp module inputs / outputs are crystal clear in the documentation, but the remote start connections are intentionally vague and pretty much useless. I had to use commando alarm systems to obtain more detailed information to install the viper system. THIS IS IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE INSTALLING THE REMOTE START PORTION ON THE 5806V. WIRES RED / WHITE, PINK / WHITE, AND SOLID RED, 3 WIRES ON THE 10 PIN WIRE, HEAVY GAUGE, REQUIRE BATTERY VOLTAGE AT ALL TIMES. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DECIPHER AND INSTALL YOUR SYSTEM FROM THAT POINT FOR REMOTE START. OTHERWISE, YOU MIGHT WANT TO TAKE THE SYSTEM TO AN INSTALLER, ESPECIALLY FOR NOVICE ELECTRICAL TECHS. Also, I had several circuits that require relays to flip the ground to positive for module outputs. This will vary depending on what you're driving. Be prepared for a project if you intend to fully utilize the system. Internet information very limited to assist with install issues.
