My husband and I each have one on our side of the bed. It's our nightstand. It fits perfectly and the open sides allow me to grab my Chapstick without having to get out of bed to do so. I cannot say how well it would work as a bookshelf, but it does work well for a nightstand. The shelves are very sturdy and its made of good quality wood. The price was pretty good too. Also, it wasn't confusing to put together. My husband was bale to put both together in like 20 minutes.

We expected this to be so much better, especially considering the price. While it is real wood and not partical board, it is still not a great product. It seemed like it should be pretty easy to put together, but it wasn't. They do not drill the holes for the screws. We had to do that ourselves; because it's almost impossible to get the screws in without drilling. This made it take much longer to put together than it should have.

I wouldn’t buy this again. For the price I expect predrilled holes that work. It did have a few but they didn’t go in far enough so I couldn’t physically get the screws in all of the way. Also, there are many, many locations where there are no predrilled holes at all. It also doesn’t line up right so there is a gap right in the front where the wood doesn’t line up. Once I finally got it assembled it is so rickety that I honestly feel like it’s going to collapse if I put anything on it. Very disappointing.

Looks nice. The wood looks like good quality. It is a little flimsy, however. That could be my fault in putting it together, however. I have had people complement me on it, though. One of the shelves didn't quite match up with the side, and it pulls away and leaves a slight gap, which you can only see when you are up close. Again, possibly my fault. I would buy it again, however.

Almost impossible to assemble because there are no holes for the screws. We had to line up every hole on each piece, mark with an awl, drill pilot holes and then force screw the screws through the small pilot holes. In the process, we drilled the hole all the way through in two places making unsightly holes which we then had to repair to the best of our ability. Even with the pilot holes, it is very difficult to screw in the 38 screws. What should have been a simple assembly was extremely frustrating, difficult, stressful, and time consuming - and we have been assembling furniture for decades, so it isn't like we don't know how. In addition, there are defects on the product that arrived that way: a ridge in the top, cracks, scratches, all needing touch -up and looking not quite right even with the touch-up. If you rely on directions, you are out of luck - these are just very busy pictures and no words, not useful except to see what the parts are. We do NOT recommend the heartache of this piece of furniture!

Color and height is exactly what I wanted, but it is not very steady.
