Iron X HandrailPicket #3 (Brick or Paver Steps)

We have been wanting a handrail on our back steps for some time. There were a lot of cheap ones everywhere but wanted a quality product as it is a safety feature. Installation was easy. I got the set with the 1/4" concrete anchors included. (#8). You will most likely have to cut one leg to get level. I had to cut 4 1/4" inches off the bottom leg. Instructions show top leg but notes it could be the bottom one like mine. I used a De Walt saws all with metal blade and it was easy. You also need a hammer drill for the anchors. A magnetic torpedo level is enough for this project. One other note. The manufacturer is about 30 minutes from my house but they were the same exact price as Amazon. The anchor set also includes a carbide bit and chuck for your anchors.

Mother-in-law moving in for a few months, she needs a handrail to get up the front porch steps. I looked atless expensive aluminum options but choose to go with more sturdy American wrought-iron. Well made product, with clear installation instructions. Only four stars for ease of installation because it took a few hours proceeding carefully), I needed a sawzall and a hammer drill which I already had but installation went well. Only four stars for "value for the money" because it was fairly expensive. But very pleased with the product and the final outcome. I do think it was worth the extra expense to get a sturdy and well made product. Recommended.

Rails were easy to install. The rail is attractive and exceptionally sturdy and I am a big guy. I thought the fact that the installation instructions were crystal clear and hardware was provided was impressive. Product was well packaged and even thought to box was a little worse for wear, the rails did not have a scratch. The installation was in concrete and i tried using the bit and screws provided. The screw would not drive properly even using a 1/2 inch drill. Went to the hardware store an picked up some Tapcon screws of the same size and they went right in. I recommend the rails, but recognize that the hardware may be lacking.

The product instructions were extremely helpful and included illustrations. I've never drilled in concrete or brick before and was glad that I ordered the product with the fastners and drill bit. I had to buy a hammer drill to do the job. One notation: I had a little trouble installing the decorative covers for the fastners. There probably is a trick that I don't know about.After installing one rail, I ordered the second one for the other side of the stairs.

Why 5" bolts? Drilled holes w/ hammer drill as instructed. Used power drill to sink bolts: each one i tried locked down drill. Tried impact drill, didn't work. Threads on bolts flattened out instead of pulling bolt downward! Had to remove bolts and used parasleeve type concrete anchors. Sturdy as rock.

Not much to dislike, this product is perfect for our needs, absolutely PERFECT. The only reason I gave it 4 stars for installation is that I did have a bit of trouble drilling into our concrete steps. They have quite a bit of small aggregate mixed into the concrete mix. However, with the proper drill and concrete bit, you WILL persevere...and you will be very pleased with the results.

I ordered this railing to help my mother get up and down the steps of her house. The product itself didn’t disappoint in quality. The only issues I had was the hardware (concrete bolts) included with the railing. I did use the appropriate sized drill bit, but 2 of the bolts snapped while halfway in the concrete. After removing what was left in the concrete I decided to go with the trusted Tapcons. I installed it over a month now and so far so go. Very sturdy and looks great. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone and I would buy again.
