This was bought for a 5 year old to introduce him to mobiles and it is brilliant and child friendly it’s very safe to use and the parental controls are great

great idea but no back up
My wife ordered this phone for our 9 year old daughter. The phone is fine for what we allow her to have on it and the monitoring features are excellent, BUT DO NOT BUY ONE.I have been trying to order a new screen for a couple of weeks as she dropped it and even the screen protector didn't prevent the screen from breaking - I've been promised that someone will contact me directly from their technical team on 5 or 6 occasions. I've even been told I should be talking to whomever we purchased from - Amazon - and they are obliged to help me!

DO NOT BUY- appalling customer service, and a non working phone!
Appalling customer service.I never normally write reviews, but on this occasion I think it's so important. I purchased a monqi phone from amazon for my daughter's Christmas present. On Christmas day she was super excited to receive it, and we charged it and went about trying to set it up. However, it seems that the phone was sold without a licence. I contacted Monqi who explained that I would have to buy a licence for it, that was on boxing day. Ever since, my messages have been ignored, and no licence can be bought! I must have sent them upwards on 30 messages now, asking to please buy a licence or for assistance, and they have all gone unanswered. I paid nearly £70 pounds for this phone, just for it to sit on a drawer. My daughter is understandably upset at still not having a phone. I love the concept of the phone, but have no idea how well it would actually work! I'm so disappointed, and am asking amazon for assistance now too.

Great phone for kid safety and parental control. Looks like any other smartphone. Its just a little slow which is frustrating.

The phone equivalent of fire for kids
First a proviso . I am reviewing the phone and software. Too early to review geo location, durability etc. Unpacked and setup yesterday.I read about this phone over a year ago when it was double the current Amazon price and only available with a contract. It sounded great but I knew I would want a cheaper, non contract phone in case it was lost / damaged etc. For the last 10 months my year 6 son had a sim card in my old phone . I thoght i had set up good parentai controls via browser, router, phone network only to realise that the store only restricted paid apps, not free. ...so age inappropriate apps could be downloaded on it and as via app store rather than browser , not recognised as such so not blocked. I only found this out when he downloaded the relatively benign what's app and it got me wondering how possible when supposed to be 16 . Bit of a shock ....So , faced with secondary school and the ability to have phone with you all day , I looked again at the monqi and pleased to find it SIM free at a good price. It does more than I need ito and is more flexible than I had thought. Easy to pair with your phone ( the parental control app is the key) and to set up. Android functionality all there behind the monqi software and you can enable it as you see fit. So an app not in their jungle store can be added when you unlock ( temporarily) the Google play store. So Pokémon go etc etc now all sorted. It has its own browser called scout which claims to be the best child friendly one though he hasn't used it enough for me to judge. Think fire for kids in a phone .... times, schedules, flexibility. Really impressed. And best of all...my son loves it, looks cooler than mine, screen to edge phone. The 3 g doesn't seem to slow it down do far as I had wondered . The phone is a British STK sync 5 e phone and is nicely designed. So .... impressed.Update...phone in daily use for 6 weeks now and we are still both impressed. The geo location is amazing and gives me great peace of mind. Only caveat ...it is a phone able to have dual SIM cards....make sure the sim card you get can work in this sort of phone.Other than that, no reservations, lots happiness .

Outstanding product
This is a brilliant phone, It enables the parents to keep there children safe while they enjoy their phone, would definitely recommend it to all parents.
