Morton's Steak Bible: Recipes and Lore from the Legendary Steakhouse

I looked for this cookbook and either couldn't find it or the price was ridiculous. I found it here at a great price. As a home cook, I find the recipes easy to follow. This cookbook has allowed me to elevate the meals I make at home.

Love having the recipes to make some of my favorite Morton’s dishes at home. Reading the short stories of some celebrities also makes for an interesting read. Happy I purchased this cookbook

We bought two cookbooks for Morton's recipes and was pleasantly surprised at the number of different recipes offered between the two. Only some basic information overlapped. The information on preparation - from choosing the best cut to serving - was awesome. This book offers everything from appetizers, salads, sauces, main courses that include beef, veal, lamb, seafood... to sauces, cocktails and desserts.

This is a cookbook - there's really not much "lore from the legendary steakhouse". However, if you're a fan of Morton's and would like to try their recipes at home, this is the book from you. The book has the recipe for every single item on Morton's menu plus a number of others that I haven't tried yet but look really good (particularly some of the German specialties.) They also have a number of excellent drink recipes and good instructions on how steaks should be cooked (hint: it's not the way most people do it at home.) If you think you'd be interested, go for it...you won't be disappointed.

Just received this book for a week, and I am already a hero! What did I made? Potato Skins, Morton's Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing(best dressing ever), Beef Filet Diane(such a elegant and complex steak source), Manhattan Martini, and Cadillac Margarita. I am amazed how accurate these recipes are, everything I made so far were as good as what I tasted at Morton. Definitely will try the Crab Cake, Shrimp Alexander, and some of the desserts soon.

Every recipe in this book was a dish that could have been ordered in every restaurant before they were sold. So you can still experience the quality that made them famous for decades.

I'm amazed that Morton's would share their secrets, but they have w/ this cookbook. The dishes are gourmet quality, but simple enough for anyone to duplicate. One of the best cookbooks I've come across. The prime rib, blue cheese dressing and hot chocolate cake are to die for. I can't wait to try more of these recipes.

Fantastic cookbook. Lots of yummy recipies. Only drawback is that it is definately not for beginners as some of the recipes may be a bit lengthy for a newbie. The history of Mortons is interesting as well.
