Collected Poems in English

In Progress
Brodsky's content is excellent; the formats are sometimes confusing. Brodsky wrote first in Russian and then learned English. Some of the poems are translations from Russian made by Brodsky, some of the poems are translations from Russian made by others, and some of the poems are written in English. Thus, sometimes I'm not sure whose poems I'm reading, and of course one considers a translation differently. I wish very much the editor had made clear at the beginning of each poem who did what to what (that sounds almost like a naughty limerick!).

The Wonder of Joseph Brodsky
I used this product for whatever it is one uses poetry for. The book is an unequaled collection of the work of one of Russia's preeminent 20th century poets and it is a testament to what can be done by people who cherish and understand what makes a poet uniquely important.

On Brodsky
This is a large and lovely book. It collects the most significant and important verse of J. Brodsky, winner of the Nobel prize. I highly recommend it.Brodsky speaks of history's fortune and fate as he attempts a clarification of the poet's role in a world gone amuck. There are some gems here: "On Love," "I Sit By the Window," "Odysseus to Telemachus," "The Butterfly," "Torso," "Elegy: For Robert Lowell," and "Cafe Trieste: SF," to name a few.Brodsky's poetic voice is imaginative and celestial. His words are as light and time-transcendent as the cloud-walk of heavenly angels.I also recommend: Z. Herbert, C. Milosz, R. Hass, W. Szymborska, A. Zagajewski, and R. Jeffers.

Worth the weight
This is a hefty tome to be sure, an excellent and comprehensive collection of a great poetwith whom I am amazingly only just discovering. Despite an extensive collection of poetry, novels and non-fiction, I always am excited to discover a great writer that some how managedto slip under my radar. A formidable writer and fine edition of his work. Bought directly throughAmazon and as always the service is fast and reliable.

A bit of a slog through the esoteric.
This book is often a bit of a slog through the esoteric.

The only source of English translation for many verses.
I bought this book to read "The Bust of Tiberius" in translation as it is not found anywhere else.An exquisite translation with very little loss from the original Russian.

Romantic opener
If you want to get her Lady-parts moist, this is the book! Six Years Later, pg. 3, is it! Either, she's not interested or she's dead.

Compilación útil
Volumen muy útil por reunir la casi totalidad de la poesía de Brodsky, en manos de diversos traductores, incluso él mismo (la identificación del traductor de cada poema al final del volumen).Buena presentación tipográfica, fácil de leer. Se echa en falta una introducción y presentación de la obra.

I got a pirated copy
I didn't like it at all because the paper, print are so bad that I am stuck with a substandard stuff. The same with annotated T S Eliot.
