The abilities in me: Congenital heart defect

Another beautifully written and illustrated book in the abilities in me book series. I sat and read it with my daughter multiple times today when it arrived and she enjoyed it and was interested to understand what CHD is.These books are brilliant because it’s teaching children as young as 3 nearly 4 (age of my daughter) about different conditions and gives her a basic understanding to what it means and that those children do things she herself would do, like go to the beach! She also noticed the character from the 22q book in this book as one of the children playing, which I love because it shows they are a series.Can’t wait for the autism one to come out, and to build on our collection of these books.

my son is 4 and was so excited to see a character in a book just like him, we regularly read and he really enjoyed this book and after reading it wanted to go back through it again looking at the illustration and talking about the pictures relating it to care he’s had and as we have a heart scan coming up very soon I think this book will really help him prepare for it! Amazing idea well done to Gemma and Adam!

This book is amazing my little boy was pointing to the girl and say she has a special like me, beautifully written and illustrated, we shall be taking the book to nursery to show them what Colbys special is really like, also would LOVE to get one for all schools and nurseries in my area so everyone gets an understanding on what CHD is really like, thank you once again xx

I had the most amazing time reading this to my children! It is one our favourite books because it is so feel-good!! 🥰 most people just think that if a child is born with a heart condition, that life is just all about limits, restrictions, and boundaries.. but this book proves that you can still LIVE with CHD and love it too!I’m obsessed with this series!!! I can’t wait for more 😃❤️

A lovely bright book written and illustrated beautifully, read my son after his recent surgery, he loved the fact it was all in a book and that he is not alone, it encourages other children to be kind and have some better understanding of these conditions or of their own condition. I love the whole series there gonna help so many schools hospitals and children!

My son has CHD and I would highly recommend this book to anyone whose child is starting to ask questions about their condition or to friends/family so they can understand the condition a bit more.

Another great book in the series, so easy for young children to understand, my son will be taking his to school to show hid teachers and friends about his poorly heart. Can't wait for the next book x
