Benny Andersson Piano: Music from ABBA, Chess and More

This is the score book, complementing the marvelous solo piano (CD) arrangements as composed and performed by the incredible talented and frankly nothing short of a musical genius, Benny Andersson. The musical arrangements are hauntingly beautiful and masterfully created for the solo piano performances, they were intended for. It isn’t an understatement when Göran Arnsberg is being thanked for in this edition, for his careful transcription of the pieces. It’s not an easy task at hand. Unfortunately, however there are some minor transcription mistakes here and there, I’ve encountered thus far, compared to the CD performance by Benny Andersson. (En Skrift I Snön) It is not a big deal for me personally to correct the mistakes and re-entering the pieces into my notation program correctly, as I’m a professional composer and musician. But for folks who anticipate and expect every single note heared on the CD to be written down correctly, it will not be the case in every single piece in this book. But all in all, by all means a MUST buy.I can’t thank you enough, Benny Andersson, for the heart warming music you’ve created over the decades. You are a true master. Thank You For The Music.

Great book, and the songs are very well selected. I wondered many times when a such book will be released. I bought also the CD played by Benny and just the piano alone makes some songs sound and feel very different than their orchestra versions and very close to their essence. Sounds so good that there's nothing else to add or take out. Not sure if or when am I going to play any of those songs like that but they are accessible and sounding like classical music. Worth having both if you have a piano or learning to play it. I am looking forward to the next volume.

I bought the kindle version and it's great. Haven't learned all the songs yet, but the ones I did learn sound exactly like the original ones. If you like the album and want to play it, then buy this, you'd pay the same for a single song on other sites.

My husband and I always have pleasant background music at breakfast time. We play our favorite CD's. Benny Andersson's PIANO is one we listen to every morning! Never get tired of it. Each and every cut on this CD is a winner.

What beautiful music, both to listen to and to play! I haven't felt this inspired to play in a long time. This music touches the soul.

It is obvious that the arrangements in this book were transcribed by the composer. The harmonies are beautiful. This book is appropriate for advanced pianists.

Beautiful scoring and inspiring. This book got me back into piano after a long hiatus. This is the best piano book I have seen in a long time for the intermediate to advanced pianist.

Very well done! Sounds authentic, I just don't play nearly as well as Benny does. Now can they please publish the sheet music for"Story of a Heart", it's a song I think would have been a great addition to this book.

These are wonderful scores and true to the music on the CD of the same title. Most pieces are not really easy. They take some practicing but are thoroughly enjoyable.
