Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary: New and Enhanced Edition

This is a very nice dictionary with some pictures included. There is alot of information in this and I I a very thick and there I weight to this book. Very helpful with bible study.

I had tried another popular dictionary only to find it way too wordy and some of the pictures were not accurate according to scripture (ex: the tabernacle and the ark of the covenant). This dictionary is precise and gets to the point. The pictures are beautiful and the maps are very descriptive. I highly recommend this Bible dictionary.

A must have!

Bible dictionaries are incredibly helpful and insightful to anybody of any level of bible study. I am a layman bible student, only having been on my journey to better understand God’s word for about the past year. I had purchased a few study bibles, commentaries, and bible study workbooks, but didn’t really see the point in getting a dictionary, because it sounded as if I was going to be trying to interpret Greek and Hebrew or really complicated word studies to justify my purchase. But then i’ve realized as ive been learning that there are plenty of words, phrases, people, places, etc., in the bible that i needed definitions and context for, and this one has been tremendously helpful! It has beautiful coloring and illustrations, and had the majority of the terms ive searched for. I own 3: This one, the Holman dictionary, and the Zondervan. They each provide great definitions, and often have slightly different info, so they’re great to use together. However, I find myself grabbing for this one the most, and if I can only carry 1, it will usually be this one. The Nelson’s has fantastic and detailed book introductions and outlines. It has more words than the Holman, although I do enjoy the layout, look and feel of the Holman the most. If I could only pick one, I personally find this one to be the most helpful in my bible study.

Great reference for looking up people, places and things from the Bible. Research and learn more about people such as Adam, Eve, Joseph, Esther, and Moses as well as many others. Find the meaning of words such as baptism, banquet, fleshpot, debt, parable, etc. This Bible dictionary is hardback and full of biblical information! The Amazon description states the book is “accurate, thorough, dependable, and easy to understand.” It has lived up to this description. If you are someone who would rather have an accurate and dependable book for your biblical information instead of the Internet… this book is definitely for you.

Great product, wonderful reference during Bible study. My wife loves it.

I bought this before and now I’m pretty sure I didn’t get it the first time, so I bought it again and mine looked used because the back is coming off or maybe it was just badly packed. I’m definitely keeping it and going through any hassle with it and returning it would just be annoying at this point. People said this is a really good one, so I may update after I read it.

I use this book regularly while reading my Bible. Gives a great description on what you're looking for and will direct you where to go to find what you're looking for. Plus, gives recommendations what to also look up in relation to the word being researched.

I use it all the time! It’s supper practical and very rich with information to find info about anything in the Bible. You can type names of the books, characters, places, even dates in the research and It leads to the context, etc. my favorite bible dictionary!!!

Bible study.. the item was left outside the front door.. and at worst could have been open to public theft.. better to have asked for a place where the item could have been hidden, as the item had a value of £45 approx otherwise grand..the item was in good condition and boxed well.

While this Bible Dictionary is not a Catholic one, I was very pleasantly surprised at the very fair, and - I would say - beautiful, treatment of Mary by bible exegete Ronald F Youngblood. This indicates to me that it can be very helpful in other aspects also.

I am a bible college student, and wanted a fairly universal source to start or refer to for my papers. Many assignments I have require a minimum amount of bibliographic entries, and this book has been used on every single one. Its a great resource for adult study, academic research & is biblically sound - with minimal denomination comments. When made, however, its made clear “the Cathloic belief is…”, “most protestants..”
