Worth every single penny.
I originally had the Alpine SPE-6090 and those speakers were flawless. The bass was buttery smooth and I loved everything about them. Unfortunately Best Buy screwed up, wired the right one backwards and caused the speaker to blow. I bought the S-S69 as a replacement thinking they would be better and hated them. They got loud and clear but there was absolutely no bass compared to the SPE-6090. I even gave it time to break in and it still sounded the same after a year. I decided to purchase these, the SPS-619 because the cone material was the same as the SPE-6090 unlike the S-S69 which had their supposedly superior "Hamr" design for more excursion. These sound light-years better than the S-S69 and even better than the SPE-6090. Once they broke in, they just got better and better with every car ride. I would buy these pair of speakers a million times over and would recommend it to anyone that loves clarity and bass. I used to depend on my speakers for bass but now I have subs installed and they just compliment the system beautifully. If you're hesitating on buying these, don't. Buy them right TF now. You will not be disappointed, I promise. Just give them time to break in and you will be blown away by its performance!!!

Clean sound!!!
Almost 5 stars. Things to note: * no grille * no directions ( not important to me but....) The Alpine 619 are pretty nice. They are great for bass but the highs are average at low levels. At higher volume levels, these things open up nice!! It is weird but that is how they seem to work. Even at very high volume levels, they don't distort. Great build quality. I wouldn't recommend these if you aren't using an amp. One that has a slightly higher rms rate. If you are using an amp, like bass and clean mids and don't mind the highs being soft at lower volumes (around 7%) then these are for you. I'm happy and the work for my application. ***Update*** From 4 to 5 stars. Once you let the speakers break in, everything comes together. Great speaks!!!!!!!! **Update 2***** Still 5 stars!! I've bought the rockford p1692 and the kicker 43ds693 and the Alpines blow them both out of the water!! I returned the rockford for the kickers and put those in the rear. Later I bought the Alpines for the front. Now I wish I had them in the rear too. The power that these thing can handle and still be crystal clear is amazing!!! Listen...don't make the mistake I made by buy all the other 6x9s before I bought the Alpines. Just trust me on this one!!

IMPRESSIVE SOUND--balanced, wholesome; absence of gasket to provide clearance necessitated 'creatibe' thinking
20160419 UPDATE I have submitted photos of the installation for any whom own a Dodge MAGNUM. (I presume the front doors of a Dodge CHARGER will be identical, if not only for the 2007 model, for other Dodge CHARGERs since the redesign.) P.S. With the additional height introduced by the plastic spacers as employed in this install, the original screws that secure the factory speakers will be too short. Thus, I used the screws originally employed in securing the factory speaker housing to the door for the speakers, and purchased stainless steel sheet metal screws at a local hardware story to secure the factory speaker housing to the doors. P.P.S. IMPRESSIVE SOUND--the ALPINE SPS-619 gives me the impression that I am indeed listening to 3-way loudspeakers, a testament to the careful balancing between the drivers and crossover components. After reading a couple of reviews denoting a lack of bass I had to note that the sound is indeed impressive. To anyone installing any loudspeaker in a car door: Please note that a car door is not an air-tight enclosure, and the installer must take the time to cover any holes not necessary for the proper function of the door locking mechanism, buttons, etc. (I used metal tape to cover around the membrane that normally covers the door frame, in order to block some obvious air leaks.) Ensuring the door is relatively air-tight will provide a satisfying experience in regard to bass reproduction. P.P.P.S. NOT providing sufficient power to the speakers, or worse, playing your car stereo to the point of distortion, ensures that unwanted peaks reach the loudspeakers and cause them to burn out. I presently have a Pioneer stereo that supplies only 50W per channel, and since I am aware of that fact, I play them at modest volume, ensuring not to distort/override the built-in amplifier. I will be purchasing an amplifier with at least 100W per channel, which should prove sufficient, since I will not be playing music near the maximum and thus avoid forcing any clipping to reach the speakers. 20160406 UPDATE Contemplating the install today, I took the plastic spacers supplied for mounting the speakers under a rear dash and placed them behind the speaker. Though not the prescribed use per instructions, the plastic spacers CAN serve as a gaskets--I was able to attain the desired clearance with the spacers for mounting the speakers in the front doors of my 2007 Dodge MAGNUM. Since the spacers are plastic and NOT made of EVA foam or some other sealing material, I used DAP clear waterproof caulk to attach the spacers to the speakers, and repeated the process to attach the speaker with the spacers atop the Dodge speaker housing, and screwed the assembly to said housing. I will install them in the doors in a couple of days, after ensuring the caulk has cured. 20160314 I will be installing a pair of these later this week. Both design and manufacture are excellent. I ordered these late 2015, but, since they are NOT a 'drop-in installation' for my 2007 Dodge MAGNUM (contrary to what is displayed in Amazon), I waited till after winter to make the attempt. Alpine really should supply a gasket--perhaps several plastic gaskets, in stackable form, one at 1/4" and two at 1/8"--to place BEHIND the speakers, so as to lift them to allow necessary clearance. The labor involved in making your own gasket of appropriate size diminishes interest in future purchases, regardless of quality of sound. (And, no--purchasing a ready-made plastic gasket from a different vendor did not solve the problem.) An additional oversight(?), though common to 3-way car loudspeaker with center-mounted mid and high frequency drivers--there is nothing present to prevent dirt or other debris from entering the woofer voice coil. Removing a particle that made the voice coil rub proved quite difficult (I used a curved paperclip with take on one end). The particle must have blown in from when I had the loudspeaker exposed. Nonetheless, if a membrane of cloth or other material has been in place, it could have saved me an hour of careful 'surgery'.

great speaker for the price
great speaker for the price; sure the SPR and other more expensive brands may be better but for my application (no amp, stock unit) this SPS 6x9 is perfect. i just wanted an upgrade from the cheap stock speakers. they are a BIG upgrade in terms of RMS power handling and bass out put. keep in mind this will NOT thump your door but you Will notice a big difference at higher volume levels. mids are clear along with clean highs. my 2013 4runner use 6x9's in the front doors so i am right next to the speakers. i have Alpine SPS-110 tweeters for the dash speakers and they compliment the 6x9's very well. together they give me a good bass kick, clear mids, and a clean and crisp high.

Better than expected
I was reviewing speakers for about 116 years when I realized it's all too much I went ahead and just ordered these 6x9s to be thrown into a box that's going to sit in the back of a 1992 Geo Metro convertable. I was looking for something that would sound as good as new factory speakers, and I could hear on the highway. Look maybe they are bad maybe they are good, but to this untrained ear I think they sound excellent. I don't know what peak apms and all that is. I just know a factory Geo head unit makes these sound great. My guess is if you looking for speakers under $100 you will be very pleased. I would order again.
