Pros - Price, size, quality of print, ease of operation, ease of installation, printing options, number of positive customer reviews.Cons - No USB cable supplied, you supply the cable.I print about 5 times a year and no one in town stock a black and white printer. Just the big color, scanner, fax printers.Super great price. Online at the office supply stores and the super stores I found the best price at $119. The $70 price was excellent.Easy setup. I had hooked up the printer, even though the instructions said not to, and then loaded the software and it loaded and ran just fine.Does not come with a USB cable, lucky I had one here for a spare HD I have not hooked up or else I would have had to go to the store and buy one the next day instead of being able to test it and print right away.Very quite and quick prints with very crisp fronts. Have not printed a photo yet.If this works and lasts as long as all the positive reviews I will be very pleased.

I needed a printer to print coupons and keep my costs as low as possible, so I thought I'd invest in a laser printer. The printer is great, but I wished I had saved more money and bought one that comes with a scanner / copy machine.This is a basic laser printer, but it works great if you only need black and white prints. The toner it came with was a small one, but it still lasted from January until April. I ordered a new toner from Amazon in April and the printer still says it has 75% off left. I have tried forever to figure out how much toner is left and somebody left a message here that was very helpful. You just press the Go button 3 times consecutively and it will print a report. If you want to use paper smaller than A4 (again, something us couponers have to deal with), just go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers, right-click on the printer and pick Printer Preferences. At the top of the box, you have Paper Size. Pick User Defined and pick 8.5 and 8.4. This way, if you have pages where you printed only 1 coupon, just cut the coupon and use the rest of the page to print 2 more coupons. The approximate sizes are 8.5' and 8.4'. You also have to make sure you adjust the paper tray to fit the smaller paper.The only problem I have encountered so far is probably toner-related or maybe it's a drum issue. Some pages start printing faded. I have to remove the toner and shake it a bit and then it will print great. But I have to keep doing it and I really don't want to damage it. I couldn't figure out how to fix this issue.Other than that, I am very happy with it. It doesn't take a lot of room, it's medium size and not very heavy.

I would give this printer 5 stars but i had somewhat of a hard time installing this printer on my Mac. I had to download a driver for it to work and the installation process took about an hour. Secondly i bought this printer in August and it is now december and my toner is running low. I expected it to last longer from these reviews. I would estimate around 500 prints made in that time period. The toner is pricey but over all this is a great printer, very happy with my purchase, it prints quickly. I use this printer for an imac, macbook pro, and windows laptop, this printer is a dream and works great with all 3 of my computers. Overall it's the most reliable printer i've owned and will probably stick with only this brand, just wish the ink wasn't so expensive.

I've had it with ink jet printers. I don't have a need to print in color. But our last two inkjets stopped printing in black. We bought new cartridges to no avail. One printer did seem to fix itself later, inexplicedly. Beyond that, cartridges are expensive and don't last long. This Brother laser printer looks like the solution so far. The software was easy to load. The unit turns off and on quietly and fast with no hucking and bucking like the ink jets. It prints smoothly, quietly, and fast. The print quality is excellent. The cartridge that comes with it promises 1200 copies. That could last me years. And the product is inexpensive. Printing for me now is hassle free. Obviously I can't comment on its long-term performance, but for now I highly recommend it for people who don't need color.

I purchased this little printer to replace an ink jet printer that was forever drying out. This Brother printer cost me about $90 at the time, and let me tell you, it's still going strong. We've changed toner cartridges several times, and but nothing else. How often do we use it? Not much, TBH. But it's hooked to the network and always on, and we always can rely on it to print anything we send at any time. Even if it's been sitting for a month, it wakes up, printers perfectly, and goes back to sleep.This little printer is PERFECT for occasional home printing.
