awesome
this machine is way cool. I listen to it in the morning when getting ready for work. The sound is really good for a small machine nice and clean. It works great with my i pod and internet radio stations. Love Love Love it well worth the investment.

Cool and sound is nice, not worth the money
I wanted one of these for years so I finaly nutted-up and dropped $200 so I could listen to NPR out on my patio without having to drag a corded radio out.First impression: Cheap and plastic. Not the solid feel of a "Tivoli Model One" I assumed it would be. Especially for the price.Sound is good for talk radio and tuning is nice with sensative dial but....again, not worth the price.I missed my return window so I'm stuck with it. I like it but if I had to do over again, I would have gotten the Sangean PR-D15 for less than half the price wich can be made cordless with rechargeable batteries that you don't have to pull out to recharge. That will be my next radio.Style and sound wise it is good but again.......I feel more than a little jipped.

The best and most reliable radio ever. Excellent sound. Have bought them for years. They get dirty eventually but keep working beautifully!!!

A travel pal...
This radio gets excellent reception and projects sound that defies it's tiny size. The battery life is terrific once fully charged and it is a great travel companion. People love the sound and are astonished when they see how tiny it is. It's wonderful for picnics, the beach, the office and the patio.

Not worth the money!
I've had 2 iPals over the years. Both were terrific as far as durability and convenience are concerned. The first PROBLEM on FM is the horrible sound quality (too much base, not enough treble). Remember, these have been around for many many years, yet they've not improved the sound quality one bit. At $200, I don't think they even come close to worth that kind of money.....not at $150 either....maybe if you could land one at less than $100 and you are willing to live with mediocre sound, then OK.The other significant PROBLEM is the AM tuner (obviously, if you have given up on AM, then this won't concern you). It cannot discriminate between close frequency stations. Terrible if you like listening to sports talk or any other talk radio, for example.Anyway, spend your money on a different brand!

Radio sounds great but the quality of the parts and materials is terrible
I bought this a few years ago and initially was delighted with it. But after the warranty period expired, it developed problems. The rubberized coated started peeling and flaking off. OMG! My radio has leprosy! Keep in mind this has been babied and gently handled at all times. I am the only one who uses it so I'm sure of this. The AM/FM/OFF switch started causing problems. I had to wiggle it around to select the proper function and sometimes on its own it would change from AM to FM or vice versa. Very annoying for a radio in this price range. After this happened, outside the warranty period, I called Tivoli one evening and listed my problems and they very kindly offered to send me a replacement radio at no charge. The radio I wanted had been unavailable for a while but a new shipment had arrived so they could send me the black color I liked. All good, huh? No!The new radio has developed exactly the SAME problems as the old one.I have two Model One Tivoli radios and have had no problems with those.I would love to have one of the newer bluetooth Tivoli portables but I've lost confidence in the quality of Tivoli products and will look for another brand that has the quality in their products to justify the premium prices.I don't mind paying premium prices for products that have a build quality that justifies their price point. Tivoli needs to do a better job monitoring their Chinese partners. Or maybe...they just don't care anymore.I'm really more sad than mad; Tivoli used to make superior products, but based on my experiences with this portable, not anymore. It still sounds great, though.I realize that the rubberized coating may not be used anymore but my comments about the function switch are still relevant since it looks as if they are using the exact same switch in the newer models. But more than those particular problems, I'm concerned about the lack of quality control of Tivoli products. No company that attempts to sell high quality products should have allowed this to happen.

Excellent product, highly recommended
I bought the older version of this radio which is functionally identical except the new one has an iPod cable connector. The Tivoli Pal is high quality. The controls are excellent. Though not stereo, the sound is excellent. It stands up to abuse, except the finish on the older Pal tended to chip a little. You can plug in an external source via a common "audio in" jack. No USB port, no iPod dock. I used it often for five years before having to replace the rechargeable battery pack ($25 via Amazon). It can play the radio while being charged. The FM and AM bands both work fine.

Very Pleased
Haven't had it that long but the tone is beautiful. I like that fact that it is so portable. I have a friend that has 3 of them and strongly recommended the Tavoli. That is why I actually bought this one.
