GREAT Little Vacuum, Only One Design Flaw
Got on a Daily Deal for $79.99 + tax. You won't find a better vacuum cleaner deal anywhere for that price! We also own a Shark Navigator NV26, which I thought was pretty effective at sucking. Bought this Hoover to use upstairs and keep the Shark downstairs. Now I don't even want the Shark anymore... This little Hoover is undoubtedly the BEST pound-for-pound vacuum cleaner on the market! Unpacked it yesterday and vacuumed the entire house, including both sets of stairs. The Shark (also bagless, cyclonic and "never loses suction") weighs 17.2 lbs while the Hoover is 12.3 lbs (without the tool attachments + extra hose section connected). That 5 lb difference is quite noticeable. While I was just looking for a decent vacuum cleaner, here are 3 things that blew me away about this Hoover: 1) When I first plugged it in, I thought it was defective because I could barely push or pull it across the berber loop carpet in our family room. Then I realized the reason was the suction was so freakin strong on this little vac! Anywhere you have a short, tightly wound carpet like berber, you're going to have to work a little to move this thing around...But it will be worth it when you see what comes out of your carpet! 2) The rest of our home is cut pile carpet and wood floors. I emptied this vac SIX times and filled a kitchen trash bag a solid foot from the bottom. I expect a vacuum to work the best it ever will the first time you take it out of the box, but this was ridiculous! The Shark is supposed to never lose suction and it had only been a couple of weeks since the last vacuuming with it. I literally couldn't believe how much crap was stuck down in our carpet fibers after using that Shark for the past 2 years...Disgusting! 3) This Hoover was remarkably easy to use on our stairs. I simply don't have the patience to use a hose or cleaning wand to clean stairs. I grab the carry handle, turn the vac sideways and clean each step a few pushs & pulls from the center to the left side, then from the center to the right side, even doing 3 steps at a time one way, then the other. These small vacuums have cleaning brushes and heads that are just about the right width for normal stairs when turned sideways. The problem I always had with the Shark on the stairs (besides the weight) was the darn long handle that doesn't detach. It would hit the wall constantly or pop me in the face and was just in the way on the stairs. The main handle of the Hoover easily pulls out by just releasing a simple catch...Then it's truly easy to maneuver on stairs! Of course the manual says to sit the vacuum at the bottom of the stairs and use the stair hose and wand/D-handle to clean the stairs...You're kidding, right? I'll stick with my method...But that brings me to my "one design flaw". If you're ever using this Hoover without the main handle attached (like holding it by the carrying handle to do stairs), then you have to be real careful that the back of your palm doesn't push the dirt cup release button. This happened to me twice...First unexpectedly and the second time I was actually trying to avoid it. If this happens, you'll pull the dirt cup away from the vacuum with it running and it's extremely LOUD until you turn the unit off. It's not a deal-breaker for me, but I would have simply located the dirt cup release button in a different location. Since I've only used it one day, I have no idea about the unit's durability...But a 2-Year Factory Warranty makes me feel pretty good about it. Besides, I would have gladly paid someone $85 to come in and remove that much dirt and grime from our carpets yesterday. So I kind of feel like I've already gotten my money's worth out of this Hoover in just one use. Finally, here are a few TIPS if you decide to purchase this vacuum: * The really fine particles of dust will be statically-charged and stick to the bottom of the dirt cup, requiring some light hitting/banging for them to drop out. For this reason you may want to empty the dirt cup outside. * If you're like me, the first time you use this vacuum you're going to be stunned at how much gunk comes out of your "clean" carpets. There are instructions in the manual for disassembling and washing, but I just took it outside and used a air blower to thoroughly blow the parts clean. It was quick & easy. I'll wash it after a couple of more uses. * At first glance, the main hose (connected to brush roller area), stair hose and attachments are not exactly intuitive. In reality, it's pretty simple. When standing behind it, the hose on the left completely detaches and is the "stair" hose. Just detach it and attach a cleaning tool to the correct end of it. Carry it with you to the stairs or to the next room for cleaning next to walls or dusting. Just attach the stair hose to the main hose (bottom right) as needed and disconnect when done. You probably won't even need to use the main D-handle as a cleaning "wand" unless you're cleaning stairs or drapes... * Empty the dirt cup frequently. Fine dust and dirt is going to clog the cyclonic unit if you keep filling the dirt cup without emptying it. * Cut the beater brush off when using on floors. That's pretty much it. It's a lightweight vacuum with the performance of a heavyweight. I thought our Shark was a champion...But The Champ just got KO'd.

Greatest vacuum in the price range
I originally purchased a Hoover Linx Platinum Cordless Stick Vac. It was substandard but I realized I liked the Hoover brand so I decided to try this one. I am so glad I did. This vacuum is fantastic. We have a three bedroom apartment with equal carpet and wood flooring. I wanted something versatile to handle it all with enough suction to take care of dust bunnies, dirt from two kids, and litter/fur from two cats. This vacuum handled everything. I first vacuumed with my old Bissell Helix, then the Hoover Linx, and finally the new Hoover Windtunnel. The Windtunnel picked up more than any other vacuum I owned, after the entire house having been vacuumed twice. The amount of fur in it was incredulous. I could have sworn there would be no fur or hair left, but it definitely got down into those carpets and yanked it out. It has a wonderful filter system to where I didn't smell dust or dirt while vacuuming, I just smelled the filter. It was noisy, but I don't care about noisy when its destroying all the dirt in my home. Its actually quieter with the brush roller off, so when doing hard floors its not that bad at all. It goes super close to baseboards and edges, with the suction ability to PULL dirt and other debris out from under the baseboards. I was amazed it was just yanking things out of crevices for me to vacuum up. After using the wand tool to really make sure it was all spotless, I felt content. I had something stuck on the floor that both of the other two vacuums (and my fingers) could not pull up. I was going to take care of it after. However the hoover windtunnel yanked it up and it was gone. The cord, while a burden because its a cord, is extremely long so I only had to switch plugs once to do my entire apartment. If its not going to be cordless, then it might as well make my life easier and be super long. I haven't used all the attachments yet so I can't comment on those, but it definitely has everything I need for this small space. Its also lightweight (more than the bissell, but not as much as the linx). I'm 8 months pregnant and found it easy to push the vac around. On the carpet it actually tried to take off by itself. It was pulling me a little because its so powerful for its size. Its very small, you can store it -anywhere-. That was a feature I really enjoyed. Plus it made it easier to navigate all the clutter in my house. We moved from a house to an apartment so we have too many things here. This does not have a huge head so it gets in between everything with ease. It also has a great clearance to make it under things. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. I wanted a better vacuum to make sure this place was spotless for my newborn coming and I am pleased that I have found it.

Lightweight, powerful, & fun to use
I want to give this vacuum 5 stars because I love it. I purchased it after our 5-year-old clunky Eureka that I hated finally died. I'm 7-months pregnant, and I could hardly vacuum with that other one anyway because it was so heavy. I chose this one because it's lightweight and because of the good reviews. As far as cleaning, it's *awesome*. It does at least a good a job as our old full-size vacuum, but because it's smaller, lighter, and easier to maneuver, I was able to get into so many more places than I could before. It also took less time, which is fantastic, since I have a toddler and a preschooler who often need my attention. Once you figure out how to attach the hose, it's easy and fast, and I didn't mind having to stop the vacuum and do the hose parts of my cleaning after the floor part. The hose has a great reach, and the attachments are easy to use and very functional, and within a few minutes I had every ceiling corner of every room of my condo cleaned, as well as the ceiling fans and vents that I hadn't been able to reach before. I also used the vacuum to clean our minivan after a long trip when it was full of crumbs and sand, and I was able to get every crevice spotless. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that like several other reviewers, the hose came out of the holding clip because it was only glued in there. We duct taped it together so we can still use it until I call Hoover (or return it to Amazon for a replacement -- I haven't decided which to do yet). But it actually works fine with the duct tape so I might not do anything because even with that flaw, it's the best vacuum I've ever owned -- mostly because it's lightweight and easy enough for me to actually use it properly.

Fantastic vacuum. It's so powerful it kept lifting my rug off the floor when I lifted the vacuum off the floor. Changing from "floor mode" to "extension/tool mode" isn't as quick as a Dyson Animal DC23 (which I also have), but it the powerful suction makes it worth the extra 10secs. Also, this hoover is *much* lighter than the Dyson DC23. The center of gravity is *directly* below the handle, so it doesn't "feel" heavy when you're carrying it around. One drawback (which is arguable), is that I wish the "brush" attachment bristles were as long and as "furry" as the one on the Dyson DC23. But that's just my preference (your mileage may vary). All in all, a fantastic vacuum for the price. I paid over $650 for the DC23 when it first came out, and that seemed to give the other vacuum manufacturers a much needed kick in the butt to bootstrap their R&D. The end result is, *today*, this great vacuum was made available to me at a great price (under CAD$170!).

Amazing. I can't believe the suction on this light vacuum. Cut down my vacuuming time by more than half due to needing to do only only one pass on carpet or floor. Unit stands solid when you use the attachments. Took 2 minutes to assemble. Extra-long core a joy as can do the the entire house from only two plugs. Super light and easy to empty. Tough to use on smaller area rugs due to the super suction, so would recommend for carpet, hardwood and area rugs over 7" only. Amazon delivered to door 3 days after ordering. Love the in/off brush roller.
