Price performance leader - Only one that works
I have five hearing amplifiers from three different companies and four different models. All of them are low cost new RIC models. I didn't exactly plan to do this but I sort of stumbled into it. So I'll share my findings. I am not an audiologist. I'm a retired CTO (Chief Technical Officer) for an Internet company (actually several different companies). I'm a former Hi-Fi hobbyist and 75 years old. My hearing is bad but normal. I've had it examined recently by Kaiser. The hearing exam is free with the coverage but they won't pay for hearing aids. That's the same policy they have for glasses.I had regular prescription hearing aids ten years ago. My hearing was poor then but it's much worse now. I lost my 'real' hearing aids after less than a year and I did not have them insured. I didn't want to spend another $2,000 dollars so i started buying hearing amplifiers of various configurations. This summer I felt that the hearing amplifier market had matured technically enough that I would try again. The three brands (all from Amazon) I have are Zyon, Britzgo, and this one the One-Stop. These are all modern RIC technology. I had previously bought a pair of very inexpensive rechargeable RIC hearing amplifiers here on Amazon from NewEar. These were the first RIC hearing amplifiers I had ever seen on the market. But the receiver on them was too big for my ear canal. The three new ones I now have all have thinner receivers that should fit most ears. The NewEar amps hurt to wear. I don't believe my ear canals are small, nothing else on me is. Of these three this one the One-Stop has the biggest receiver. But it fits in my ear canal with no trouble so I don't think it matters. If you have particularly small canal you might not be able to wear these.Let me digress to explain why I restricted myself to RIC models. RIC is simply better than the alternative air tube technology. It has inherently lower harmonic distortion. You may remember airlines used to provide ear plugs that sent the music through a hollow plastic tube. All that is gone now. The newer headsets have wires to carry the signal and have a speaker on your ear. That's what RIC does. In ten years the hollow tube products will be gone. But the speaker in your ear has to be pretty small. The Zyon device is very good but it is an early production model and I have had two break already. That within just a few months. The Britzgo and this model are also brand new. It will take a while to determine their durability. This model works great and is super east to unpack and get working. You just put in the battery and put it in your ear. Put the volume about half way up. If that doesn't give you enough boost you may need to see and audiologist. This is a product aimed at the average person with an average amount of age related hearing loss.IMHO no one should buy a conventional hearing aid anymore until they first buy and try one of these. If you buy a top brand from a hearing center the audiologist may charge you $5,000 - maybe $10,000. Think about that. Devices as sophisticated as this one simply weren't available a year ago for less than a couple thousand dollars. Get a hearing test and if you have simple normal age related hearing loss. Buy one of these.Of the three Hearing Amps I have this is the simplest and the cheapest. But it works fine. The little booklet that come with it shows its amplification curve. In Hi-Fi your want flat frequency response. You want an even level from your tweeters and woofers. But your hearing loss is probably like mine with a big dip around 3,000 Hz. That's not very high but it is in the range of speech frequencies. This HA has a big boost at around 3,000 just where you have a big dip. The net effect is that the overall frequency is close to flat. That's why this device works so well with almost no other electronics. For most people especially men over fifty this simple cheap device gives them just what they've lost a little more sensitivity to the speech frequencies. My two other Hearing Amplifiers are rechargeable. This one uses batteries. There are trade-offs. Batteries are another expense but they are not very expensive. Maybe $20 a year. With rechargeables if you forget to recharge them you have to wait a couple hours while before they work again. With a battery model you just put in another battery. Trade offs. One advantage of batteries over rechargeables is that this One-Stop is a good deal smaller than the Zyon or the Britzgo. So it may be more concealable. It is also a more flesh like color (assuming you are a Caucasian or Asian). This doesn't mean much to me but it may be a plus for some. The Brizgo is dark blue. The Zyon is a silverish metallic color.I think this One-Stop may be smaller because the rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries are larger than the replaceable Zinc Air batteries. But I could be wrong. I haven't taken any of them apart - yet.UPDATE 11/08/18: My rechargeable HA's have all failed. The Zyon has failed three times. The Britzgo has failed once, I just ordered another of these. But one of the Zyon's started to work again.UPADATE 11/28/18: I now have two working Zyon's and one working One -Stop. I have also one failed One-Stop, one failed Britzgo, and one failed Zyon. My conclusion is that these things are not very reliable. I wear the Zyon's everyday and use the One-Stop as a back up. I have also decided that batteries are better than rechargeable. If you have regular habits and faithfully plug them in the recharger every night the rechargeable ones will work fine. But if you miss a day they will be dead until you give them another long charge. So if you wake up to discover you didn't plug them in last night, you will have a day ahead of you without any hearing help. With a battery they go for close to a week and when they run down you can immediately get them going again.

definitely helps!
Purchased the blue one, arrived on time and it definitely helps!! Take a while to get used to wearing it. Now I can listen to the television and birds.I suggest that try a low cost hearing amplifier first to see if an aid would help before purchasing an expensive one. I like the fact it is for either ear and rechargeable. So far this unit is worth it.

Excellent, Better Than All The Others I've Tried
During past several years I have bought a number of hearing amplifiers, most less expensive than this one but a couple that cost 50% more I have only been using this for a couple of weeks but I am so pleased and impressed I just ordered another. My hearing is not good and I need something so I can hear in meetings, conversing with friends and family members, and when watching TV other than turn the volume up to maximum and get complaints from the neighboring apartments. The other amplifiers help, especially if I wear one on each ear, but this one is so good it is often sufficient by itself.I have the volume cranked up to the maximum and am not experiencing a problem with whistling or squealing as long as the dome is pressed into my ear canal. My sons have been after me for a long time to get a hearing aid, but I am too cheap to spend several thousand dollars, and also don't want to wear an amplifier 24/7. But this one works so well that even they are satisfied that I am doing something about my failing hearing.I highly recommend this device based on my experience and just put my money where my mouth is by ordering a second one.

My mom watches normal volume movies without subtitles now!
My mom can watch TV at a normal volume now! Haha. I was researching hearing aids vs hearing amplifiers after my mom got a quote for $2500 for a hearing aid from a doctor! I figured, there's got to be a cheaper option with range settings for common tone ranges, just like there are $10 glasses you can get instead of custom prescription glasses. Sure enough! That's how I learned about hearing amplifiers :)I ultimately will buy her some of the really nice $300 ones, but I wanted to buy an intro-priced one to get her used to it and see if she'll even wear it. Sure enough! This totally works, and works so well, I'm curious if the $300 even brings anything new to the table. She's just wearing the 1 right now, and her only complaint is that now the sound isn't balanced, so I think I've gotta get her another one now :)

Great First Impression
Professionally packaged, unobtrusive in size, crystal clear reception, simplicity in controls, it is rechargeable...no pesky continual changing of tiny batteries, for most instances it can be set once and need only attendance of the on/off switch. Can't close without mentioning the price is only (approx.) 20% of it's competitors. ONLY a couple of days have passed with it, so if some unexpected failure occurs I will attempt to update this review.

Great product!!! The device works as advertised!!!!
I have had this product for about two weeks. Overall, it performs better than my previous two amplifiers from other manufacturers, particularly in restaurants and other somewhat noisy environments. I now hear much better, can watch tv on normal volume and understand conversations. I can actually hear the words and sounds clearly, and not at fog-horn decibel levels. It took me zero time to get used to it.I am very happy with this purchase!!!

This works great
The first time I put it on I was surprised that I could actually hear. Words were muffled and I could not hear or understand what the TV saying, I always used the closed caption. I don't have to use that anymore, even with the TV turned down low I could hear it. Now I could hear some things I never heard without this . I do recommend getting this one if you are undecided.Update: I have not been able to find domes for this hearing aid, so make sure the seller gives information on where to get these domes, you have to replace domes often.
