Fab Lab Tie Dye Luxury Kit

The kit was great! Perfect quarantine activity! We did socks and t-shirts and they all turned out really well. You can do bedsheets, tote bags and all sorts though. Here is our method in case you are interested, they vary from the instructions a little. The kit contains everything you need, but you will want some extra you can find at home. 1. Quick 15 min wash (without soap) clothes you want to die, whilst in the washer add water to your die bottles. The instructions say fill to the line, but I couldn't see a specific line so filled to the top of the bottle before it inclines to form the spout this was perfect, shake bottles ensuring lids are held down. Gloves are provided, but I hadn't put them on yet so died my hands a little. A quick tip is to add some bicarb of soda to your sink water and scrub your hands. The die quickly comes out. 2. Find patterns online and once your garment is twisted, crinkled or rolled up put the elastic bands around the garment making sure it is tight and compact. 3. Add the die to individual sections. My dad was a little conservative with his die and although the result was still cool, we recommend adding the die generously. 4. Place your died garments into ziplock/sandwich bags. Leave them for 8 hours whilst the die sets. Obvious moral dilemma here with using plastic so keep them for your next die sesh there's enough die for 2 days of fun I would say. You 'probably' can justify your global footprint though i.e 'I haven't travelled to work for the last 6 months so my overall emissions are reduced and thus using this plastic isn't that bad' - My boomer parents to their concerned millennial snowflake offspring. (we did 3 t-shirts, 5 pairs of mens sports socks and 6 pairs of female trainer socks.) 5. Take your died garments out of their bags unband and put them into cold water for around 20 mins. (We had a couple of washing up bowls which came in really handy. We used them for die-ing in and rinsed in-between garments as well.) 6. Put them back into the washing machine for another quick wash without soap and let dry naturally (on hangers or airers rather than in the tumble dryer). 7. Walk the runway. We recommend listening to Supermodel by Ru-Paul as you sashay. 'You better work, work it, girl. Do your thing on the runway.' Obviously quarantine is boring AF, but my parents were buzzing and the results are great. There are loads of tutorial online to watch I recommend the HighSnobiety one on YT.

Arrived on time and well packaged. This is a great kit. I have never done tie dye and wanted to try it before doing this with my grandchildren as fun time. The instructions are clear and its easy peasy lemon squeezy. I used some big tshirts I garden in. The first on was white and the other was grey. The dye colour are beautiful and vibrant. The fabric is not cotton and the colours still stuck so I am well pleased. I am definitely buying this when I do do the projects and I have three sets of grandchildren to buy for. Definitely recommend for newbees.

This kit is great as an 'all-in-one' tie dye experience. I purchased this for my goddaughter, and spent a great evening helping her create tie dye t-shirts out of her old school gear. The instruction booklet was easy to use, and had some good suggestions for different patterns and shapes we could make together. The kit comes with all the dye, elastic bands, gloves and bottles you need - and the variety of colours meant we could create a rainbow of patterns. The only reason I have given this product less than 5* is the longevity of the item. The instructions did warn of this, but it was a shame to see quite how quickly the product deteriorated. The following evening (and then the next morning) - so 24 and 36 hours after initial mixture of the dyes - we created some more patterns on t-shirts and pillowcases made of the same material. After following the same process as we did during initial use, all but 1 of the colours of dye completely washed out in the machine, and the blue that was left was significantly paler than previously. This was a little disappointing, especially as had not left the dyes for an extended period of time, and I had made a conscious effort to reshake and mix the bottles before using. To summarise: the product is great for a 1-time use, and the output was fantastic and has made my goddaughter very happy. Although I was disappointed with the longevity, I would still suggest buying the product at this price point, as the instructions do warn that the longer you leave the dye mixed, the less effective it may be.

This was so much fun, easy to use and the results are brilliant. My children aged 7 and 10 dyed x6 100% cotton T-shirt’s and had so much dye left we decided to do a huge table cloth too. And even then we had some left over. The instructions are clear and we found the colour wheel really helpful, it gives a guide on what colours to avoid mixing to stop any brown colour results. I would recommend to rinse in cold water by hand and then hand wash for the first few washes.

We thought this was amazing! Super easy to use and great instructions! Tells you exactly how to do it and gives examples of how to make patterns. We only filled the bottles half way as the booklet said this makes the colours brighter and it was right! We left the dye on for 7 hours. It recommends 4-8. It's messy so use gloves and protect all surfaces! The booklet is great, the set contains everything you need apart from the items of clothing. We covered 4 t-shirts and 2 pillow cases but would have easily done another 2-3 items if we'd had them. Would 100% recommend and would purchase again!

This product is great. The colours are bold and bright. The dye actually dyes the project efficiently. my kids and I had a great time. just a side note: Use the gloves, I got some dye on my hands before and it really dyed them also just tap the bottle on the table before you take the little lid off, I opened one without tapping it and it squirted out and almost his the ceiling.

lorsque le descriptif dit qu'on peut faire un tas de vêtements, ce n'est pas tout à fait vrai... les quantités sont minimes...le produit est bon mais il n'y en a pas assez !
