Another Intense Georgina Story
Georgina's story of impossible love and treacherous circumstances continues in book 2 of the Succubus series. This book begins with Georgina receiving an award from Hell's inner circle for "outstanding performance in seduction, damnation, and corruption of human souls." Quite a coveted award, don't you agree? Georgina responds with an enthusiastic "Um, thanks. This is...cool." As usual, Georgina isn't exactly a fan of her professional responsibilities, other than the simple fact that the job allows her to continue living on Earth rather than in Hell.In this second installment of the Succubus series, Georgina is faced with solving a mystery that has touched her circle of human friends from the bookstore. Her co-worker, Doug, has been changing; he and his band are suddenly more talented, but they are also displaying some violent behavior. The mood swings have Georgina convinced that there is an addiction involved, but her senses tell her that the new drug of choice is not from the human world. She is sensing a supernatural power when she is near the band. Who could be tampering with the human population in her territory?Elsewhere in Seattle, Georgina has been dragged into an unusual situation by a friend from her demon circle of friends. Bastien, an Incubus with the same responsibilities as Georgina (except targeting women versus men), needs her help for an undercover operation. Bastien is working very hard to seduce a religious zealot who has been wreaking havoc on hell's quota numbers. While playing Bastien's sister Tabitha Hunter, Georgina gets drawn into a world of bigotry and judgement where she is definitely not comfortable. But to help her friend, she'll go much further than she expected.Throughout the book, the ongoing love story between Georgina and Seth continues while the hopelessness of the situation becomes harder to deal with. As much as Georgina loves Seth and his family, she won't risk being physically intimate with him and taking years off of his life. But at the same time, she has no choice but to fulfill her succubus responsibilities or she will be banished from the human world. This means lots of random sex for Georgina and zero sex ever for Seth. They are both frustrated by the barriers between them, but for now there is no other option.I am continuing to enjoy this series because of its originality. Georgina is an evil character with a heart, and as a reader you can't help but care about her. She is a woman you would never want to meet if you knew what she was, but if you didn't know, you would want to be her friend. She believes in loyalty, love and committment - regardless of her soul belonging to hell. If only there was a way to get out of her iron-clad contract.I still think that Georgina should be a little faster in reading people and situations than she is. After living for hundreds of years, I'd think she would more adept at reading the slightest changes in body language or speech. She doesn't seem to be any more talented in this department than a perceptive human. Fortunately, I didn't notice this deficiency as much in this book as the first - I think just because I'm getting more comfortable with the characters and am not analyzing them as much.I recommend this series to fans of paranormal romance, particularly if you would like to try something different from the more common vamps and weres. This is definitely an adult series due to strong sexual content. As I mentioned in my review of the first book, the writing style and character developement is very similar to Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series. Adult fans of that series should like this one as well

You Can't Choose Who You Love... But You Can Choose To Read This Series
"You had your heart broken much?"He paused. "Of course. Everyone does. Part of life.""Tell me her name. I'll kick her ass. I don't want anyone hurting you."HOW TO ENJOY THIS BOOKβ Do not judge it by its cover. Sure it has Richelle Mead's name emblazoned on it but really, a girl wearing a shiny (silver, yeesh) dress holding a goblet with that cheesy title doesn't inspire one to give this thoroughly entertaining series a chance. Taken at facecover value, this (as with the other GK books) does tend to blend in with the traditional PNRs but the characters are anything but. This installment in particular portrayed the relationship between Seth and Georgina with impressive depth and maturity... well, as much as a human writer and succubus I imagine could.Imagine Seth, the mild-mannered, socially awkward hero and Georgina, the lusty, hot demon who has sex for a living. As in, she needs sex to live. As in she can't have sex with Seth without killing him.Can you taste the angst on this one?β Do not over-think the bigger plot. This installment deals with Doug's mysterious transformation to Super Doug and a zealous, morally incorruptible woman being made to fall in lust by an incubus named Bastien. You can practically see where things are heading five chapters in on both story lines but unless you're looking for a gasp worthy plot-twist, it wouldn't really deter you from enjoying this one.β Have a PNR binge: vampires, werewolves, angels... know what just pick any romance series, throw in cowboys, bikers, billionaires in the mix just to make it more fun. Read them in succession then read this. Because chances are the alpha hero that densely populates every other romance genre will start to become stale and a character like Seth Mortensen will just knock you off your feet. True, he might take a bit of getting used to, and one might even accuse him of being a doormat but dude...He has a teddy bear named Damocles and makes a mean pancake. And he never gets jealous. How can you not give that man some love?β Re-watch some of Joss Whedon's early BtVS episodes for a better appreciation of this brand of humor. What's that? You don't know what BtVS is? Then I'd light a candle for your soul, you poor, deprived child."You would be worth going to Guam for.""What about Omaha?""No one's worth going to Omaha for."β Go to iTunes. Purchase Fiona Apple's Tidal album. You're welcome.True the demons' effort to tempt man into sinning here was fuzzy (because it sounded an awful lot like Georgie and Bastien were doing the Lord's work bringing down Dana), the story lines were scattered and needs better coherence (just like this review) and I may have figured out how this series will end but if possible, those faults only led me to better appreciate the small details."I wish you could choose who you love," he said bitterly. "Because I wouldn't choose you, you know. But, here we are. I can't stop thinking about you. I feel like there's some pull to you I can't fight."Says some "random" French guy.I'm not a fan of the trope I sense this series will take, but for the here and now, I'm just excited for when Georgina and Seth finally get to do it. Because for someone who refuses to get jealous, someone so secure of himself, I have a feeling Seth's gonna bring the thunder.-------------------------Seth's Shirt List:FroggerThundercatsRattWriters Do It At Their DeskPunky BrewsterFlash Gordon (awesome)Captain and TenilleSpamYeah, I did that.

Love Richelle Mead's books
I enjoyed this almost as much as the first book. All Richelle Mead's books are captivating. Her writing style just lures you in. Connecting with the characters is unavoidable. I especially enjoyed meeting Georgina and Seth!

Much better than the first!
I enjoyed the first book in this series 'Succubus Blues' but felt that too much time was taken up with character introductions and scene settings which left the book a little short on plot but with some great characters. Enter book two, with an already good set up of characters etc. and a bit more plot and action. If you're looking for a book with a complex plot and many cliffhangers then this isn't the right sort of book at all. The main plot is really just Georgina living her life, she just has a few unusual problems to deal with in this book and they're only partially related to her being a succubus. Georgina has to try to help her long time friend Bastien, an Incubus, hook up with a not so nice lady, Dana and work out what could be causing the strange behaviour of her good mortal friend Doug. These don't appear to be story lines which will massively affect the rest of the books in the series but they make for a good read.Mead's writing is witty as always and Bastien is a great additional character. Through him and in this novel in general we learn a lot more about being a succubus and their reminiscing is a nice touch. I worked out the Dana story fairly early on but it didn't spoil it as it wasn't too obvious, I just wanted to know I was right! Nice sideline plot that I enjoyed. The other plot where Georgina must unravel Doug's mystery behaviour is interesting but seems to end a bit too easily and I can't entirely work out either Mead or Georgina's viewpoints on this issue.Throw Georgina's relationship with mortal Seth and their issues with regards to the fact they cannot have any sexual contact, including kissing without her draining his lifeforce and shortening his life for a few years. The relationship suffers further as even though she cannot have sex with Seth she has to seduce other men to replenish her life energy, makes for some awkward conversations at breakfast! So there's still no major plot to speak of but I enjoy Mead's style of writing and I like the easy to read plots. If you enjoyed the first book, this one is much better and I hope the books continue to improve throughout the series. Looking forward to book three!

Fantastic Series! Highly Recommend!
One of my all time favourite series. I have re-read the entire series when I need to just immerse myself into a world of sassy supernatural beings, love triangles, meddling demons and angels. The characters are all well written and I have found myself laughing out loud, felt my heart twinge when Georgina goes through heartache and swooned at the alpha male characters- and there are a few! So if you haven't already read any of the books in this series, then I highly recommend!

Deliciously romantic
Georgina has the worst job on Earth I believe! She is a Succubus so se lives for the sex with good people which feeds her with energy! While her frequently sex acts play a huge part on her life; so do a no sex situation with the mortal she loves! Seth Mortensen is extremely good guy and also loves her! In this installment of the series they start to learn how hard it is to stay celibate but with that they discover how much you can love someone! I really love this book and this series only keeps getting better and better!
