Stands up on its own and holds a good deal of yarn
I have a "non-eco" version of this drum project container and this is not only nicer (no plastic-y smell) but it is good looking. I really like this style of project bag. If you choose, you can knit or crochet from it (slot in top for running yarn out of the bag) and there is an accessory pouch for needles, hooks or other paraphernalia. It's large enough to hold quite a few balls of yarn for an afghan or a big sweater. The binding of the exit slots for yarn (there are two) are a bit less finely bound than the other version I own, but they are bound with a stiff leatherette and can take yarn through them without snagging. The slot also lets you pull out a ball of yarn or put one back in without unzipping the lid.I tend to knit or crochet all over the house--bedroom, office, living room, so I tote this with me or take it in the car if I need to be somewhere where there is time for crafting. When not in use, makes good storage for craft projects. It stands up on its own, which is a big plus. That is, it stands up when filled. The canvas is a bit floppy when empty.

This honestly is really great. My only qualm is that there are spots on the outside to put like knitting needles, and I crochet so they are kind of big for a lot of my hooks and when I put them into them I have a hard time getting them back out. If you knitted, I am sure it would be fine for needles. It can fit a lot of yarn. I can shove like 8 skeins in it at least, depending on the thickness of the yarn. It travels well and the straps and handles are really nice.

Hate this. Unless you are making giant blankets or something it's way too big. Sorry I bought it.

) is noisy like a cheap raincoat
This storage bin feels thin, the plastic lining (eco-friendly?) is noisy like a cheap raincoat, and the big pocket isn't big enough to fit the project book I'd hoped to keep there. It wasn't worth the money to me and I returned it.

It's ok.
For the price, this knitting bag is just fine. It's very functional- clearly designed by somebody who knits. But I'm not sure why the canvas used in its construction is coated (waterproofed?) on the inside. The coating has an odor. They could have used a better quality canvas. I'd also like to see a bigger bag with partitions on the inside.

They love the ones they have and don't leave home without ...
This one seems bigger than the other bin/drums that are on the market. I purchased the other ones for my daughter and her boyfriend and found this one a few weeks later. They love the ones they have and don't leave home without them and suggested I get one for myself, I found this. I love the extra pockets on the outside and the extra case for little doo-dads. It seems very durable and well made. I use it to take smaller projects to work and on road trips and find it holds quite a bit of yarn alone (even more when you turn skeins into cakes with a yarn winder) There are 4 pockets on the outside of a big pocket for knitting needles or in my case Tunisian/Afghan hooks, the regular hooks drop too far and the ergonomic ones barely have room to squeeze in and you have to fight with it to get them out. Then you have a pocket right next to that for scissors, providing the are full sized ones, I personally prefer smaller ones for yarn projects, the big pocket that these are attached to is perfect to hold my crochet hook case with the cushioned grips easily and then there are two larger pockets that can hold patterns and books and whatever else you may need on your adventure. I wish there was a crochet version with possibly 2 rows of shorter hook pockets where the "needle" pockets are and a shorter pocket for the scissors and if you have to put the huge "MATO" logo on it how about give me a color choice? Overall I'm very happy with this and would recommend and purchase again.

Nice bag!
I like this bag, though it could be made better with a few compartments inside. The bag is well constructed and there is no "off" smell to it. I'm very sensitive to odors having MCS, and this bag didn't bother my senses at all. I love the pockets around the outside and the holes where the yarn comes through are smooth. My yarn doesn't catch. It's maybe a bit larger than I needed. Otherwise, a great buy!

Projects are portable, contained and protected!
I've been using this bag for a few weeks now. It is a really nice size. Big enough to hold my larger projects or several small ones. I find myself knitting for babies a lot lately and I have pets. I don't like my animals/hair/dander... whatever... getting on these baby things. This bag keeps everything nicely contained and protected. The yarn can stay in the bag even while in use with the holes in the top of the bag. I put all of my tools in the extra zippered bag, which holds everything nicely and keep it and my scissors in one of the side pockets with my phone. Still there are other pockets I haven't found anything to put in yet. The material is kind of like a stiff canvas. When I first got it, I thought it felt cheaply made, but I have since decided that was not a fair judgment. Though it is soft sided and you can collapse it if you want to, I like that it doesn't collapse into a pile on the floor when I sit it down. The zippers and handles seem plenty sturdy. Over all, I am very pleased! And the price was so much better than other items I looked at.
