I was so sad when I found out I needed to give up gluten AND discovered that 99% of true black licorice was made with wheat. This licorice is NOT a sad dupe for good licorice, it is one of the best licorices I've ever had. Sweet, a little salty, with a flavor that keeps blooming. The texture is slightly bouncy, not "grainy" like wheat based so it it's smooth and fun to eat. If you LOVE black licorice- try this one. You'll be glad you did EVEN if you can eat wheat based varieties!

This is my favorite black licorice. It’s not something I can afford to buy often so I usually treat myself during the holidays. Their chocolate covered licorice balls are the best!!

The sweet variety is some of the best, if not the very best, traditional licorice I've ever had, "traditional" meaning, it's not quite the delicious, intense licorice flavor you get from Brach's jelly beans or Barkley's or Altoids licorice candies, but the more mild version of the flavor. What really sets these apart is the molasses flavor. Licorice and molasses were made for each other! The overall flavor is so full and rounded and satisfying and sweet and almost savory. It's really hard not to each a bunch all at once, but the small package makes me exercise restraint. I'm so glad Bülow makes these gluten-free and that I finally tried these. I've since tried the salty and habañero kind. The salty kind is just okay. I prefer Fazer Salmiakki even if the ingredients in the latter aren't of such high quality and even if it's not really a one-to-one comparison. The salmiak flavor is kind of there, but it's weak, not punchy at all, which, to me, is the whole point of salty licorice. But if you don't have a big sweet tooth, salty candy is nice. The habañero ones are great! It's really a nice twist on licorice. I don't find them burning hot at all; you just get a nice extra kick, and the chili flavor complements the licorice nicely. I think if you tried just one, sweet would do it for you.

The licorice offers a true authentic taste.. with a good chew. It’s addicting even though the saltiness is a bit much… I would purchase licorice again from this company… however, not the salted. Packaged nicely..

I am one of the only people I know who enjoys black licorice. In fact I am obsessed with the flavor. And some months ago I had a craving like never before, so I explored what is available. This is without a doubt the best licorice I've eaten. A sweet alternative for those uninitiated to the "salty" salmiac (ammonium chloride) varieties of northern European licorice. The choice of molasses as sweetener is superior, as is the natural licorice flavor. I wish I could buy larger containers at a discount but I suppose this is "small batch" for a reason. Not cheap but delicious. Arrived soft and fresh.

Very disappointed as I purchased this as a Christmas gift for a friend. She opened it in front of me just today as was first we could get together and the 'protective' cover over the licorice seemed to already have been opened and was NOT sealed. Unfair to not receive credit in this situation

Tastes like black licorice. Maybe there is a little bit of "heat", but to me at least its not spicy. The black licorice is very Euro. Which is good, because its better than the typical too sweet American fare.

It's simply not as tasty as other flavors.

Bestellt hatte ich mir 4 - Habanero jedoch, weil ich Lakritz in einer scharfen Kombination haben wollte. Die Habanero kommt zwar im Ansatz durch, aber insgesamt ist das Produkt alles andere als scharf. Daher nur 4 Sterne von mir.

Super Lakritz vom Geschmack und der Konsistenz her. Auch richtig scharf mit dem Habanero. Einziger Wehrmutstropfen ist ein wenig der Preis.
