FANTASTIC. The amount of love
FANTASTIC. The amount of love, care, attention to detail in this book are so moving. The author speaks as if one on one to you. Not some lofty teacher whom you feel you have the honor to hear from. Nor is it some abstract foreign text that you can't glean anything practical from. This is the epitome of practical but with spirituality as a core. She is utterly thorough and covers every possible question one might have on how to go through a kundalini awakening. I'm so so so grateful I found this book.

A Practical Guide to Kundalini and the Chakras
This writing is very thorough in describing the body, kundalini and the chakras and how they work and function. It was a bit more mechanical for my taste - I prefer to leave some things in the etherial world rather than pulling all into the tactal but that is just me. I was recommended this book and it was not what I thought it would be, however, it is quite thorough in its discussions and, I believe, true to what its purpose was meant to be. A good textbook for those wanting/needing this information.

It was as described in Amazon a used book in good condition.
It was a used book and it was in great condition. So glad to have been able to get the book at a price I could afford. So grateful.

Perhaps if one is already familiar with the titular concepts, this book would be a helpful
I was hoping to enjoy this book, however, the way the author organized the material and some of her choice of words/cursory explanations left me feeling overwhelmed, confused, and a bit frustrated. For example, I would have liked to read information and then learn about exercises, or maybe have a chapter of information and then relevant exercises. Instead, it felt like everything was all mixed together, as if the author assumed the reader already knew what Kundalini was and could quickly jump between topics. The point where I stopped reading was after the author's description of the 4 brains. Her descriptions felt like oversimplifications that would confuse someone who is just being introduced to these subjects. For example, the author explains that an "underdeveloped reptilian brain" means a person will be overly focused on relationships and fitting in. According to my understanding, if a human’s “reptilian" brain is “underdeveloped” (the cerebellum and brain stem, as shown in book’s diagram) then this person would have issues regulating bodily functions. Perhaps the author meant 4 energetic brains and their development? Whatever the author meant is lost on me due to this lack of explanation. Perhaps if one is already familiar with the ideas presented in this book, this would be a helpful resource.

Informative book
Got interested in Kundalini after hearing and reading something on one of the Yoga websites recently. I tried finding some more information about Kundalini Yoga and chakra awakening, but all we found was about dangers of practicing it for the inexperienced ones.In reality, both husband an I just wanted to read some more about this matter, so we decided that book on this subject is a best source.Good and informative book, which also confirms the danger of practicing Kundalini cold turkey.Happy with our choice, and price for this used book was less than what it would take to drive down to the library.

A New Age mess of uncited and unfounded information.
Let me save you the trouble of buying this. Do you like to learn about tried and true spiritual philosophies, practices, experiences and their real world applications? Or do you like to read a whole book written by someone who is trying to mash a bunch of spiritual ideas (ranging from seemingly nonsense unfounded ideas, to tried and true) together to reinvent the wheel? Because this book is doing the latter.I couldn't help get the sense that this book was going to be a mess just from the table of contents. My favorite sections that I can recall:- The Reptilian Brain- Negative Chakras- The Seven Heart Chakras- The Seven Eye ChakrasDon't get me wrong there's probably some information out there to back up the plethora of additional chakras discussed in this book. As there are said to be thousands of nadis/chakras in the body via traditional yogic philosophy. But these are typically of little importance for a reason. What really made me realize this book was unresearched nonsense was the author's section on Samadhi. In many traditions Samadhi is a deep absorbtion state that is very close to self realization, but not quite. Seeing use of it elsewhere even a few times, one would quickly understand the connotations of the word. However, the author wrote an entire section about how Samadhi means "eveness" in sanskrit (it doesn't) and about how we should apply Samadhi/eveness to our chakras with breathing techniques.... So basically they have zero idea of what they're talking about. All in all, the greatest sin of this book is thinking it would be a good guide for those navigating territory post kundalini awakening. Just flipping through the book there are dozens of chakra/nadi diagrams and information about each of them despite there being hundreds of minor ones. Fixating on the location and properties of all these points is absolutely not what the kundalini journey is about. And is destined to make the individual overwhelmed, attached and concerned about every small detail. When what is really needed for stability during this is: simplicity, faith and gentle listening/intuition to their minds and bodies.Bonnie Greenwell's "The Kundalini Guide: A Companion for the Inward Journey" is much better if you are looking to get your bearings on this process.
