I've been using these filters for several years for want of a better option. I think any difference it makes is minimal - i had a new floor put down and accidentally got shower water on the floor. It left a permanent water stain. This is known to be caused by deposits in the water which the filter is supposed to filter out. After a few months the holes get gunky with limescale, which would indicate it is not keeping the limescale out. I'm up for a new one and am looking at other brands.Price wise, this one is around 3 x the cost of many others that claim to do the same thing.What's more, I now also have a fixed shower and fitted another brand filter to that one. Washing my hair under both showers on different days, the difference was staggering. Fixed head filter made a huge difference whereas the other one did not. That has convinced me not to buy this one again.
