This is a Tool That Makes Your Homeowner Work Easy & Look Professional !
Amazing tool, makes apparently complicated cuts a breeze for a first-timer. Plunge cuts (which I only learned about days before receiving the VersaCut) a simple, clean task. Highly recommended for limited residential remodel and/or install prep work, which will save you $$ on contractors/pros. The laser guide is dead-on and makes following your mark very easy. Tips: (1) For plunge cuts, be sure to get the blade up to full speed--pressing the trigger--before touching the wood, (2) remember that the VersaCut will not start cutting until you press the face plate down onto/into the surface to be cut (make sure you set the depth correctly--for plunge cuts, consider setting for the max of 1 1/16"), (3) for clean exit from a plunge cut, carefully pull straight out of the cut while the blade is still spinning--if you stop the blade while still in the cut, you might get a jump causing a uncontrolled cut--that's the only time I experienced a jump, and that was my fault. If you'd like more info or encouragement, read on. I had never before held a circular saw, mini or otherwise. But after watching a few how-to videos online, I was able to very cleanly and expertly (I think) widen a cabinet cutout (vertical cabinet opening) to replace both a microwave oven and a thermal oven in my home. The old unit had been a combo microwave and oven with only a 24inch wide opening that's not enough to install newer separate units. Pictures are attached showing the Microwave and Oven Cutout after removing the old units and before the VersaCut, then after the VersaCut helped me widen the cutout, and then the final result. Within days after that success (in my view), I used the VersaCut to widen a horizontal laminate countertop cutout (opening) to replace my old coil cooktop. The VersaCut made it soooo easy--I made only one laminate nick, and that was my fault for not pulling out of the cut more carefully. Luckily the small slice ultimately remained under the cooktop surface and is not apparent. The VersaCut cost around $99 and saved me hundreds in handyman or contractor costs! Second Tip for newbies: Follow the old saying: Measure Twice (and check again), Then Cut (correctly) Once. Plan your project, and work the Plan. You can do this!

Excellent Mini Circular Blade Plunge Saw---
This is a review of Rockwell RK3440K mini circular blade saw with a laser cut-line indicator. Although some advertisements tout a "multi-purpose tool", most tools excel at one task. Where some circular saws perform well as cut-off saws (a saw intended to repeatedly and readily cut off work piece ends), the niche for the subject Rockwell saw is plunge cuts. Plunge cuts rely on the lower portion of the circular blade being exposed so it can enter the work piece. The Rockwell saw is very well engineered and constructed. The battery-operated laser projects a red line that accurately aligns with the cutting blade. The blade is on the left side of the motor. The sawdust exhaust nozzle is out of the way of the alignment indicators. The 3 3/8" blade is capable of making accurate plunge cuts up to just over one inch in depth. The saw base has markers to show where the blade is positioned for various cut depths. A smooth, thin, planar, plastic shoe may be attached to the base underside to prevent scratching of the work piece. An accessory fence (adjustable in distance from the blade) comes with the tool. As a result of the tool design, the complete saw base can rest on the work piece and be accurately aligned before the saw is brought up to speed and plunged into the work piece. One risks kick backs if the saw is not at full speed before plunging. The two finger controls on the saw were easy to distinguish and selectively energize. The party (review elsewhere) who purchased this tool to cut 2 x 4s may have overlooked pertinent specifications listed by the manufacturer. I did not purchase the Rockwell saw to cut fire wood or construct a dog house, outhouse, shed or a house. In order to accommodate a taller refrigerator in a oak kitchen cabinet I needed to trim away the upper edge of the cabinet. The Rockwell saw performed the linear cut admirably in just a few minutes. As far as I am concerned, the saw paid for itself with that one task.

This tool is awesome!!! comes with blades to slice through different materials. very smooth action cutting and they thought of extra gadgets to help you cut straight lines. What precision, easy to use, plunge cut, compact, easy to handle, plenty of power. I bought this to replace my circular saw and I don't regret it. The only downside is it can't cut deeper than 1 1/8 (ie: 2 x 4) but you just flip it and rip through it again.

Excellent and versatile tool........comfortable and easy to use, especially in situations where space is at a premium. Powerful yet light. One of those tools that actually delivers on it promises. Good job, Rockwell. And the price from Amazon, delivered free to my door, was excellent.

Better than expected Not as loud as expected Nice compact design and easy to use. If you need the laser, you're a dunce and shouldn't be using power tools.
