Great pedal for the money
Sounds great Good build quality and fairly cheap You get a lot for your money I use a power supply so can’t comment on battery life but definitely great pedal 👍

Beyond Expectations
As soon as this was delivered I immediately plugged my guitar into it and connected it into the return of my Laney Leadtop effects loop and it sounds insanely good for the money especially in the "scooped" setting. Doing this allows the pedal to act as your preamp so you control your tone purely with the pedal. I haven't currently tried plugging it in to the front of the amp like a normal distortion pedal as I don't have a long enough cable but I don't see the point in doing so for me anyway. Sounds great and I would still think so if it cost double the price I paid. Worth noting that the video attached to this review is recorded with a phone camera hence why the sound is quite fizzy.

Raw? Fat? Scoop? What??
Raw = Tube Screamer style mid boost. Turn the gain down and the volume up. Surprisingly versatile. Fat = Flat EQ, uncoloured distortion. Scoop = The modern metal scoop sound. All the gain! Slayer!! \m/ Excellent build quality. Seriously this pedal will outlast you, and possibly your kids kids too. Its a tank. You need a screwdriver to install a battery (9v square type) but that's not a big deal.

Don't be put off by the name...
I'm a bit of a pedal freak and have way too many including some TC Electronic pedals, so when I saw this at a price too good to refuse I had to have one and I'm truly delighted I did. Great build quality and more importantly, a great smooth, refined distortion that works equally well ahead of a solid state amp (Cube 80) and a clean-set tube amp (Engl Screamer). From the name of it I was expecting something more 'metal', but no, it's far from that - I find it quite warm and it'll do low to moderate levels of distortion which is great for me as I like to stack pedals and this one works very well on its own and after low-gain pedals. So, yes, fab pedal at a great price - no hesitation in recommending this one.

Super, super tight metal tones.
This pedal is one of 'those'. I does metal, I mean METAL, excellently. The problem for me is that it sounds too tight for a lot of normal rocky metal. I like to have that feel like my amp is about to blow a valve or transistor. This one sounds like it's already been through a DAW kind of thing. Saying that, if you want to get a really, really tight metal sound, it's superb. With judicious adjustments, and putting the right OD before it, it can do a superb 80s hair metal sound, or total doom and destruction if you want it to. The variety of tones and the available range of adjustments might fox some users.

Decent build quality but sounds cheep
It sounds okay but fairly cheep, which is sort of expected for a distortion pedal of the price really. The build quality seems decent, though I only just got it today, so this is first impressions. If you're getting this as a main distortion and wanting it to sound amazing, I'd shop around a little first, maybe look for a seccond hand Proco Rat or something. Though, I'm really just using this to take to band rehearsal and for using the amps there as I don't want to have to be carrying my big heavy amp with me (which I use my amp for my main distorted sound), so for that I guess it's okay.

Boutique quality on a budget
I remember when these first came out they were over £100. I got this a year on for less than £40. What I noticed immediately is how natural the distortion is. Even relatively complex chord voicings (7ths, #9s) sound smooth with all the tones coming through naturally. What you also get with TC Electronic is a superb build quality. The button is solid and the chassis robust. Recommended.

What a great pedal!
I love this pedal - for the money it does a really great job and you can get excellent tones out of it. I prefer the 'fat' setting - superb for metal, especially when complimented with an overdrive. I've got a dialed-down Boss SD-1 just before it, and it really fills out the tone. I run all of my pedals through the clean channel on a Laney Ironheart, and this pedal has now earned a place on my board. I have other 'higher end' distortion pedals (some are just over-rated due to their name IMO), but this is actually my current little favourite, I just find it really easy to dial in the tones I like. Others may disagree of course, because tone is so subjective, but if you are looking for a well made budget distortion pedal that does what it's supposed to then you can't really go wrong with this one. Good pinch harmonics and thrashy chugs can be obtained all day long here!! Happy shredding :-)

I'm not a metal guitar player, mostly blues and rock. However, I enjoy delving into some heavier sounds from time to time. This pedal makes playing heavy easy. It has a special sound quality, not mushy, or treblely. Not nasally or glassy either. It is smooth and thick, yet I still hear note definition on both lead and rhythm. Nicely dark and heavy sounding. I got this at an unbelievable price for it's quality build. Nice heavy firm construction. For metal players was said to chug on clean amp channels. I use clean Fender amps, and it provides the dark heavy thick sound I occasionally like.

I bought this pedal to use in front of a Bugera g5 with a 1x12 celestion-V semi-open-back. Putting it through the clean channel, it was ok. It's got a decent middle of the road rock tone on its own and if you're putting it through a transparent tone to emulate an old plexi, it should do the job for relatively little $. But I didn't buy it for mid-road rock. I bought it for metal. When I gain stacked it with the overdrive channel of my g5, the whole setup came alive. It stacks easily and beautifully with the g5 preamp and gives me anything from a classic metal tone, to tight thrashy tones, to death metal liquid saturation. I'm not sure its the right pedal to play djent with, my Mojomojo might be better for that. It might do djent if I dial just the right gains and EQ in, but even if it doesn't do djent perfectly, its a great addition to my collection and I don't regret the purchase. This pedal also has some great options that give you alot of flexibility in tone sculpting. I find its just enough, combined with my amp tone stack, to give me plenty of flexibility, without getting frustrated at having too many options. My only complaint is that it doesn't sound nearly as good as my amps overdrive channel when compared on their own. But honestly, how can I really call that a downside that a $70 pedal doesn't sound as good as a $400 tube amp. Honestly, I'm in love with TC right now because whether you're on a budget, or just looking for something to spice up an old tube rig, they have some very solid, very versatile, great sounding stuff.
