Absolutely Hassle Free, Reliable Piece of Kit. Buy it !
I bought this wireless cable router to allow me to share my Blueyonder broadband connection with my business laptop (running windows XP & featuring adaptec £18 pcmcia 802.11b card) and my XBox using cabled XBox live.I got my broadband, xbox live subscription + router all in the space of one week and have not had any experience in setting any of these up before. Therefore, I wasn't expecting everything to run smoothly. However - I could not be more surprised. I ran the auto-installation disk supplied with the router, which obtained my cable modem setting and the whole thing just...worked. When does that *ever* happen? The router also provides four wired network ports to allow you to share your internet connection between devices, so I plugged my XBox into one of those and everything, once again, worked perfectly without any problems. So this router scores 5 stars plus on its ease of installation. That alone should convince anyone with any worries about installation. The other thing that impressed me was the range of the unit. I live in a modern 3 bedroom semi and can get full 11Mb rate wherever I am in the house. I haven't tried it in my garden yet, but I imagine it'll work fine there too. Remember that I'm running a cheapo pcmcia wireless card and this seems even more impressive, as there is no external aerial attached to it. Oh - and I've stuck it in the corner, on the floor of the living room behind a tv, video, telewest box, xbox + playstation. There must be more interference there than anywhere else in the house. Therefore, 5+ stars again, as it does absolutely everything that I need it to do.Linksys really have a well sorted product here, which proper documentation + comprehensive software. I would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone with a similar setup to myself. And it only costs £50.70p - how can it be so cheap!I'm just sad that I didn't save up another mere £15 to get the 54g version of this unit. In the next few months I imagine that that will be the product I upgrade too.Hope this review proves useful to someone as all the previous positive reviews did for me.

Brilliant router
I have purchased that router to replace my Netgear WGR614v9 which has been provided by Virgin. I have had so many problems with my previous router. I am using VPN connections a lot and three times out of ten I was not able to connect using wireless (only LAN connection worked flawlessly) and even when I got connected I could not use other devices in parallel or I would get kicked out from VPN. I have been using a Three dongle alongside my Virgin broadband just so I could VPN and browse internet at the same time (2 separate laptops). I have tried many times to change config on my old router so it will work fine but I have finally gave up and took a punt with Linksys E2000. What a joy it has been so far. I have been using it for a month now without a single problem or restart. I am able to VPN and browse internet without any problems whatsoever and the best part is that it did not require any changes to the config (which is great cause setting up routers is not my strongest suit).

Fast, stable router lacking real OpenWRT support
Fantastic router, as long as you ignore OpenWRT.This is sold as having OpenWRT support, but in reality it barely has support. Yes, you can install OpenWRT on it, and yes it does sort of work, but it's not a slick process, and there's quite a few issues with the wifi drivers which aren't open source. This means the OpenWRT crew have to wait for Belkin (who own Linksys now) to release drivers to OpenWRT. They're not very good at doing so.I spent a weekend trying the various OpenWRT builds, some worked, some didn't. In the end up I went back to the standard Linksys firmware. The Linksys firmware is stable and fast, but it's features are pretty lacking compared to the likes of Asus. It's more like the sort of firmware you get with an ISP-supplied router. If you want something to plug in, get on the internet and forget, then this is the router for you. If you want to open ports, do dynamic DNS, etc, then you're probably better looking elsewhere. There are 'apps' for parental controls and media sharing available.File sharing works fine, and is fast, especially when connected to the eSATA port. This router uses the same CPU as most of Synology's lower-end NAS units, so it's more than powerful enough to run NAS functions as well as routing. All in all, it's a nice big router that's very fast, and so far been totally stable. Would I buy it again? I'm not sure, I think I'd go for the Asus RT-AC87U, because you have Asus' brilliant firmware, and the option to use the Merlin version of that firmware which has additional features and better wifi drivers.

Very good, easy to use.
I purchased this router as the standard "Super Router" from TalkTalk kept dropping the internet connection when more than 4 devices were connected to it. The only thing I had to get to make this router work was a BT open reach Modem. This router is very easy to setup and has a relatively good range. Signal is strong throughout the house and even into the extension which has always had bad signal due to the materials used when it was built (metal or something!). I have a Zyxel NSA320 Media Server connected to this through one of the Gigabit ethernet ports and performance has been perfect and sustains high transfer rates between it and my Macbook Pro.Overall this router is very easy to use and is a install and forget item as you will not run into any problems!
