L'Equip Filter Pro Food Dehydrator
This is a dandy dehydrator. For the price it has many features I liked. I liked the timer, the temperature control, and the sturdy construction. I like that you can add shelves up to 20 and make good use of the vertical space. I researched for quite awhile before I purchased it. It does a good job and is nice looking. That being said, I would have preferred to have the shelves slide out from the front with a door, for easier access. This one you have to dismantle every time to load and unload.Because it loads in layers and the air/heat comes up from the bottom, all the bits from the shelves falls into the base unit requiring care and cleaning which isn't easy since the raised portion in the middle of the base unit and the construction of it is difficult to clean with a sponge or other means to get those bits up. As a result I've tried a couple of solutions to make it easier and not been able to find one. It would have been nice to have some kind of lifting plastic tray to clean out not attached to the base.It does a good even job of dehydrating and I've had it in constant use since purchase. If you don't mind the above inconveniences, it's a good unit and I have recommended it to others.

Bought a second one!
Purchased about a month ago and have been using everyday since it arrived. It is packaged with everything needed to start dehydrating. The mesh screens work well, preventing small pieces from falling though the trays and they are easy to clean. The rectangular trays provide plenty of capacity on each tray. It’s hot and dry in the part of the country I live in and to avoid heating up the house I’m using the unit in the garage. Its quiet and I’d have no trouble running it indoors in the winter. I’ve dried a large variety of fruits and vegetables and the dehydrator performs well, so much so that I purchased a second one.

Glad we didn't get an economy model.
After pouring over these reviews we decided to spend the exta for this L'Equip, and are very pleased with our decision. Been using it regularly for 2 1/2 months now and it is a joy to use and easy to clean with a brush (plus you can dry the screens by running the machine for a short time). Starting out with zucchini chips (and a little sea salt), which were wonerfully delicious, we've also been enjoying a lot of apples (an apple slicer was a good $2 investment for these) and one of my favorites, bananas. We even did a batch of meat, which requires a bit of prepping. I am looking forward to trying cantaloupe soon.Taking some reviewers advice to get a machine with a timer was a good move, it can be left to dehydrate on it's own, which can take 12 hours sometimes. It is not that loud, like a room fan, and we like the digital display. The square design allows for large batches, and it isn't ugly. It appears to be well built and anticipate a long life. I will update if it breaks.

This is a great dehydrator
I have been dehydrating for many years and have used 3 types of machines, this one being my favorite of all. It does a great job in every way. Sadly, my old one recently died after about 10 years of heavy use. It was the L'Equip without the timer. I never had a single problem with it in all of those years.I upgraded to this model. To show how much I love this machine, I bought a second one, like my old model, to use as a back-up for the times that I have an abundance of drying to do.One of the dehydrators that I also have is the Styx. I do not like this type at all. You have to constantly rearrange the food as the items in the back next to the fan dry much faster. While you are rearranging, the food falls off of the trays when you try to pull them out. This is not a problem with the L'Quip. The trays have a nice lip around them instead of the flat trays that come with the other models of dehydrators. This model is ultra quiet and I love the timer. Yes, sometimes you do have to rearrange the trays, but I have not used a dehydrator that you don't have to rearrange at times. That is just part of the process, at least you don't have to worry about your food falling all over the floor while you are doing it.I highly recommend this machine above all of the rest.

So far so good!
This is my first dehydrator and I love it already. I have been wanting a dehydrator ever since I became a vegan but finally made the plunge into purchasing one because we got a dog and she eats sweet potato chews. At the pet store a bag the equivalent of one medium sized sweet potato runs $9-13 for plain old dehydrated potatoes. Well at the grocery store a sweet potato of equal size is under $2. We just finished our first batch of potatoes and for the amount of money we spent (not sure of the energy costs yet) we just made 5 bags worth for $7. Plus we dehydrated a few apples while we were at it so now the dog has treats and so do we!I was really happy at how quiet the system is. It sounds like our son's bathroom fan is on in the distance not a machine working right next to the living room (his bathroom is a hallway and a room away). The system was easy to set up and operate without even looking at the owners manual. I eventually did but that was after already using it for 2 hours. The book helped me make some temperature adjustments which helped a lot.I cannot believe how excited my husband is over this purchase too; especially since it takes up valuable counter space in our next to non-existent kitchen (we live in a single floor apartment) He has all sorts of plans so he tells me (most of which he says involves meat and fish - I am sure he knows that is not happening!) but making some flax crackers is in the near future. I just need to dehydrate some tomatoes first to make tomato powder.I only gave this 4 stars though because I really wanted a back fan model not a bottom or top fan. This model is quiet and inexpensive which is a huge plus though so I will survive the inconvenience of not being able to make some of the wrappers and things I wanted to (at least in the sizes I had hoped). The dehydrator came with 2 fruit leather BPA free trays 4 yogurt cups and lids plus mesh covers for all of the trays to prevent things from slipping through the trays. 2 of the trays are marginally larger than the rest of the trays (about 1/2-3/4 inch larger)
