If you feed it, it will pound!
I have extensive experience with car stereo equipment, and for the price, I can not believe the quality of product Alpine is putting on the market for car stereo fanatics to buy. This is the best sounding, hardest hitting, 10" sub I have owed to date, and I have had a lot of the major name brands.I bought this sub because I was looking for a single 10 that I could wire down to a 1 ohm load that had a 500 watt RMS rating. The mono amp I currently have is rated for 500 watts at a 1 ohm load. This sub sounds better and hits harder than a pair of 12" subs that I previously had that were also pulling 500 watts at 1 ohm. I wanted more trunk space, so I made the switch. Doesn't sound like I lost any sound or kick with the change at all!Alpine - Thank you for a great product. I picked this sub because all of my internal component speakers are Alpine Type R's. I initially wanted a Type R sub to match, but their rating was 1000 watt RMS for a single 10" sub, and after I read that the new type S subs are basically the old Type R's, I made the purchase. Best money I have spent to date since the old green style Alpine deck I bought in 2001 that is still in service and working wonderfully to date after years of abuse. Alpine makes great products, pick one of these up - you will not be disappointed.

Sounded great--for about a day!!!!!!
I have blown two of these with the perfect ported box with 1.25 cu ft of air space and perfectly matched amp pushing 500 watts at 4 Ohms. Took it to an expert and they confirmed all my connections. Said the S series might not be able to handle that power. Im going to be returning again for a third and see what happens. If this one blows I'm upgrading to the R series.

Awesome subs.
Awesome subs for the money. I have heard a lot about Alpines over the years. This is my first set of Alpines. I have them running in a somewhat choked box with dual ports for each sub to help them breathe. Running on a Soundstream Tarantula T1.6000DL amplifier on 0.5ohm. I am giving them their full 1500 watt max each. Definitely need a bigger box for these to get their full potential.

Good speaker but died after 4 months
Sounded great while it worked. I paired this speaker up with the Alpine MRV-M500 and got great quality bass, a little heavy on the bass but good nonetheless. Fast forward 4 months and the speaker completely stopped working. The cone isn't blown, there are no faulty connections, however the speaker inputs don't register anything on multiple digital multi-meters that I used. I bought a JL10w1 and installed it and it works just fine. This is a fine speaker but I can't give it 5 stars due to it only lasting for 4 months. The seller can't help since it's outside of their return policy and Alpine won't provide warranty work since the seller on Amazon is not a registered Alpine dealer. It's a paperweight at this point.

Go big or go home
I have 2 of these monsters running at 2400 watts of power with a crunch 2400.2 class a/b amplifier and they act like it's lunch time and their ready for more the amps only turned up to about 60 percent and the bass on the head unit is at negative 6 and it shakes my friends car when I park next to him at work my parents say they can hear me coming about a half mile away at night when no one is driving these subs are just simply amazing for the price and I am getting 2 more in the next couple weeks with a copasitor to really boost the bass had these to for about 3 years now and can't complain they exceed my expectations by a mile and keep on hammering I have people ask me if I have 15s in my trunk I am just like u wanna see what i got so i pop my trunk and they just sit their and look really stupid and they say damn that's insane that's the power of these beasts get a pair and buy or build a really nice box for them and a decent amp and get out their and let people hear ya highly highly recommended wire them in series parrilell to make the final impedance 2 ohms I made the mistake and was running them at .5 ohms and fried one of my amps just a little tip can't wait for my upgrade

Do people still say "DOPE!"? Because that's what it is.
Since the mid 90s, I have owned several bass systems in my life. Kicker 15s, JL 12s, Rockford 8s. This sub impressed the hell out of me. I'm used to the speaker quality and technology of yesteryear and didn't realize how far subs had come. I have an access cab truck and using a RF 500w to power it in a sealed box that I made myself. It's loud and clean. It's almost too much bass for me; which is where I wanted to be with my system. It really kind of made me mad, honestly. It made me think, my God, am I so old that this single 10" hurts my ears and churns my insides?!
