Cool but not so quiet.
ANOTHER UPDATE: We removed the little fan that was making the noise and found a replacement (on Amazon) for about $7. It's actually a fan for a PC but it's the exact same fan. One issue though...the wires were crossed but was able to switch them around with the help of a micro size screwdriver. Voila! Good as new.UPDATE AFTER 3 YEARS: It appears we will need to replace. Unit all of a sudden became very loud. I took back off and used compressed air to blow out all dust. Seemed to do the trick but noise was back after 2 days.Have had this unit for about 2 months and we are very pleased with it's cooling capability. But it is not silent. I would not call it loud but I would not want it in the same room where I would be watching TV or just sitting. It seems to be a constant sound so it's not off & on. THAT would be irritating.

Sure enough...at the one year mark...it all started to go to hell
What started off as so promising, has quickly deteriorated over the past month. It was always a little bit on the noisy side but bearable. From other reviews, I expected that much. Towards the end of March (just shy of a year of purchasing it), I noticed the motor sound getting increasingly louder. It still seemed to maintain the temp. Then I noticed the temperature start to creep up.I tried turning everything off for a bit and turning back on. that seemed to "reset" it for a while. The mid to late April, I left for two weeks for vacation. I came back and the upper temp was 80 degrees. The lower temp was in the 60s. The motor noise is pretty loud and sounds like it is wheezing.I will try calling customer service but is there anything they will do at this point? It's ridiculous that this should break down right after the year mark.

Has tough time keeping up with ambient temp
I bought this wine fridge in November 2012. I'm writing this review in August 2013. For the most part, we have been happy with it. However, we have had a hot summer and when the temp spikes past 78, the fridge has a difficult time staying at it's settings, especially the top portion that we use for white wines. We normally keep it at 45 and for the month of July, it hovered in the high 50's and low 60's. I wouldn't recommend this fridge for people that live in areas that experience extreme temps (I live in Boston).

Two weeks and two chances - no more after overheated wine, cork ejection, and wine lakes on the floor...
While looking for a reasonably priced small capacity wine cooler, decided to give this one a try.The touch panel controls and temperature control mechanisms are unreliable and I first noticed touch panel strangeness after setting it up. The touch panel was initially non functional but with some fidgeting and taps to the top door hinge and realizing there is a wiring harness under the hinge cover, the touch panel worked but remained somewhat tempermental. The unit appears to have gotten the temperatures mixed up and ended up activating the heater to heat the wine to a nice toasty temperature of over 85 degrees. I had a separate fridge thermometer to monitor after some initial temperature variances and an overheating incident related to a power outage. Two corks popped with such great force that the door popped open and spilled wine all over the floor. When the unit worked it was fine and temperature was cool at the 45 and 55 degree settings. However, the unit ended up overheating or activating it's heater function and cooked the wine TWICE... no more - going back to amazon after 2 weeks. Look elsewhere as now I am running triage on the 18 bottles of wine to see if they are still drinkable after a cook cycle... A lesson learned while getting into the hobby of wine drinking/storage/enjoyment.Better luck to all.

Loud noisy broken, and terrible customer service
I bought this wine cooler for a gift when the reviews weren't too bad.Positive:Roomy enough to keep a few smaller bottles of wineLooks nice with the lighting.Negative:Most wine did not fit in the trays for us.The coolers were super noisy.Brushing against the buttons would adjust the temperature.Barely cooled the wine.Broke within a year.Terrible customer service.I attempted to return the wine cooler for warranty replacement. It took over a month for me to get my return label / confirmation. I then was told I would have to pay for packaging and materials. It cost me almost $100 to ship. Since they said I was liable for damages during shipping, I wanted to make sure it was packed well. They received it and waited to tell me they wouldn't repair it because it came in damaged. They offered to send me pictures of the damage, but didn't. They also didn't insure the shipment, and said this was because of the holidays. However they helpfully offered to repair it for an extra $40.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Stay as far away as possible. I will never be buying another SPT product again, period.

Fans stopped working
This worked well for me for about 12 months until the upper level got hot. I mean really hot, like exploded a bottle of wine hot. Turns out the fans on the back stopped working. The one on top seized up and the one on the bottom was making an awful noise. They are standard 92mm computer fans, but it looks like the case has a spot for you to be able to mount 120mm fans as well. It seems to have done the trick. I'm not sure why they put such awful fans in there to begin with.

Great indoor wine fridge
Bought this to supplement a much larger wine refrigerator out in our garage that is only used for reds...this one is for the modest number of whites that we have on hand at any given time. It looks nice in our kitchen and is very quiet. It can hold 44 degrees in the upper compartment and maintain a 10 degree difference between compartments, with the caveat that the thermoelectric cooling cannot attain a temperature that is more than 30 degrees below ambient. What that means is that this fridge is not for use in a garage that can get to 100F+, as the wines would then get above 70F (I haven't tested the heating capability, but assume it is much more capable). There were no instructions for attaching the handle, but even I was able to figure that out. :-)
