years later I still refer to it
I picked up this book based on recommendation of a therapist who uses it in her practice. I must say, it has some very good points. Though I don't agree with 100% of what the author wrote I am grateful that he wrote this book. It teaches you how to use your thinking process (and basically will power, though he doesn't say it directly in the book) to retrain yourself when facing a difficult situation. The mind has formed a habit of thinking one way, it doesn't mean that it is correct or helpful, this book helps expose those bad thinking habits to the reader and gives some good tools to change them.

This book can change your life!!
The introduction alone is worth buying this book. So powerful with the potential to change your life if you implement the exercises!

Love it. Easy to read and follow
Love it. Easy to read and follow. If you were to buy only one self help book, this is it. I am a mental health therapist and was trained by Aldo Pucci. I use the Client's Guide to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with all of my clients and I use the rational self counseling skills in my own life.

not sure why this was recommended to me
This was recommended to me for my 16-year-old. I decided to start to read it myself first, it reads like a car manual. I don't feel any empathy from the author, just doesn't speak to me. Not bothering to give it to my daughter.

The writer implies that you can choose to be miserable ...
The writer implies that you can choose to be miserable or not. Really? Because how does that work for trauma victims? When I got to the part where he was talking of rape and how it's not happening currently, it was in the past, and then implied that there is no reason to be miserable about it I almost threw the book. What about PTSD victims? Can THEY control their thinking. The author ignores physiological functions of being human. There is a reactive state to certain things that some people can't control. His three questions are also a rehash of Byron Katie. "Is it true?...." If you answer no to any of the questions it's irrational thinking. The last question is "How is this thinking helping me." In some cases - self protection. And lastly, there is nothing wrong with anger. It damages the vessel it's in? Why do we have it then?

Seems too simple but reallly works!
I read this book and tried to apply all the principles in it--- after being depressed for years I am not depressed anymore! It really seems too obvious and simple to apply the strategies... too easy - but I am amazed and continue to rely on the stuff I learned from it! Thank you Dr. Pucci!

Worth reading
I am in the middle of reading this book. It is worth reading. This product arrived in great shape and quickly. This is actually my second copy. I was in the middle of reading and felt a friend would benefit from the book too so I needed to buy another one.
