Dr. Slump, Vol. 2

Possibly one of the craziest manga that I have ever read!Having read and watched Akira Toriyama’s “Dragon Ball” and “Dragon Ball Z” series, I have been wanting to watch and read “Dr. Slump” for a long time.I’ve known about the popularity of this series for years but accessing it was never easy. I have been able to play the character in various video games and read bits and pieces from the old “Mangajin” magazines but to finally read the manga series, I can see why this beloved manga series is such a big hit.While not as action-heavy like “Dragon Ball”, it does manage to capture the same kind of innocence with its characters, primarily with Arale who is naive but also such a fun character because she is naive but also a quick learner. But it’s strength is its whacky stories. From scenes such as Arale holding poop and Akane telling her its disgusting and Arale starts rubbing her hands on a kid’s head.Or a crazy story of Senbei doing all he can to make a blowing device to see Arale’s teachers panties.And of course a lot of interesting mishaps when Arale gets hold of Senbei’s new inventions.The second volume of “Dr. Slump” is wild, crazy but so much fun. It’s the way these characters are portrayed and the naivety of Arale is what makes this series so darn crazy! From the superhero who wants to prove that he is better than Superman, so he wears a fly costume and suddenly becomes captivated by the poop that Arale found. Or characters that pick their nose and other situations in the series that is so darn crazy…there really is nothing like”Dr. Slump” is out there and having read many of Akira Toriyama’s work, it so different but so fun to read!Akira Toriyama’s “Dr. Slump” is a classic manga series that will continue to entertain fans for generations to come! Hilarious, crazy and just a delightful manga series that I highly recommend!

This is where it all started well before the whole world Dragonball was introduced, at the beginning there was Dr. Slump...A story about a crack scientist, with many personal issues, happens to create a Robot: Arale. The series tells of their slapstick stories as the both cope with learning about their new surroundings (Living with each other and teaching Arale, what to do, etc, the initial stories are very similar to the way Dragonball started, with Goku being clueless and all) in the wacky town of Penguin Village.The Second Book is just as good as the first and is filled with the wonderful dirty humor that Toriyama is famous for. The central theme of it (Possible Spoiler!!!!) is for Dr. Slump to see a certain woman's panties... How does he do it? You'll have to buy it to find out.

Great manga

This book has stood the test of time, at least for me. Filled with many pop culture references and non sensical humor, this has me rolling.

akira toryama is a mastermind. very silly and fun

What a great manga. This is more silly than Dragon Ball. Continuing the story with vol. 2 Dr. Slump is worth it.
