He cant be kept a secret any longer Review: Great addition to any collection - Exactly what a film from this time should be like. Great Sunday afternoon watch with partner who has never seen it. Review: Finally available on Blu-ray — and well worth the wait - There are plenty of online sources out there if you're looking for a review of the film itself, so I won't bother with that here. Suffice it to say that I think enough of this movie to have purchased it some fifteen years ago when it was first released on DVD and eagerly pre-ordered the upgrade when I learned it was finally being issued on Blu-ray. I was not disappointed in my purchase. To my eyes the image was a sharp, crystal clear 1080P with excellent detail. The audio was equally acceptable, though stereo only and with the levels being somewhat low — easily rectified by a upping the setting a few decibels on my receiver. I was somewhat concerned by the specification on the back of the case stating a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, as the film — and the original 2004 DVD release — are in a 2.39:1 ratio. However I was relieved to find that when I popped the disc into the player, it was in fact in the correct scope aspect. Because of the inaccurately labeled aspect specifications, I decided to test out the region coding — clearly marked as region B on the package — and found that the disc played without issue on a region A player as well. As D.A.R.Y.L. has not been released on Blu-ray in North America, this is a clear bonus for potential international purchasers. As I said in the header, it was well worth the wait for this Blu-ray upgrade.

Finally available on Blu-ray — and well worth the wait
There are plenty of online sources out there if you're looking for a review of the film itself, so I won't bother with that here. Suffice it to say that I think enough of this movie to have purchased it some fifteen years ago when it was first released on DVD and eagerly pre-ordered the upgrade when I learned it was finally being issued on Blu-ray. Tense and realistic
I might have given this film a miss. I'm not usually drawn towards “family dramas”. The title and DVD cover (which was all I knew about the film) didn't encourage me, but I was keen to watch it as I've seen Denis Ménochet in numerous dramas and had seen Léa Drucker recently in “Le Bureau Des Légendes” and think that they are both excellent actors. “Custody” (original title “Jusqu'à la Garde”) I found to be a remarkable and very realistic film though. The writing and directing from Xavier Legrand is brilliant. There's tension pretty much throughout the whole film and with a narrative that leaves enough unknown about the story to leave ambiguity as to what exactly is happening and for what reasons, added to which the pace is slow which all adds yet more to the tension. The whole cast are brilliant and especially so Denis Ménochet and Thomas Gioria who play father and son – Antoine and Julien Besson for the raw emotion that they deliver in their scenes. One never gets all the answers as to what was the cause to the separation but that doesn't take anything away from how good this film is, and some of those answers can be found in a previous short Oscar Nominated film by Xavier Legrand. “Custody” as it is presented on the DVD (ASIN: B07F2Q5BGP) comes with a short feature “Just Before Losing Everything” (original title “Avant Que de Tout Perdre”) which offers some of the back story to the main feature. I would very much recommend watching this short film but I would say to do so after watching the main feature. On the DVD (ASIN: B07F2Q5BGP) you get: “Custody” (1 hour 30 minutes) Scene Selection Set Up: 5.1 Dolby Digital, 2.0 Stereo English Subtitles on/off Special Features: “Just Before Losing Everthing” (30 minutes) Trailer

Original
Wonderful film about the perfect child with sci fi overtones. Some morality issues well handled

Good picture
I've only seen the opening sequences of this Blu-ray, but the picture quality of the woodlands and mountains was amazing.

This may not be a box office number 1, But it’s a great 1980’s movie for the whole family! On Blu Ray I’m super happy with the picture quality.

J’aime beaucoup ce film, il me détend beaucoup et on oubli tout. Seulement en commandant, j’ai pas vu que c’était l version anglaise. Ça me permettra d’apprendre l’anglais.
