Came quick and very accurate for measuring bullion!

I needed a scale that was portable and accurate for food portions. This fit my budget and fit my needs. I can also weigh small postage and letters under 2 lbs too all in 0.1 gram increments. It's easy to use, calibrate and is very functional. It runs on 2 AAA batteries which are included. The backlight display is nice and the scale is so easy to operate. I wished there was a conversion chart included or on the inside of the lid. But then again, that is easy enough to Google and keep handy. I have one on my iPhone when I need to do a quick conversion. My scale came in silver, not black as shown. Still very very nice and portable. Perfect for those of us watching our weight and trying our best to keep an eye on portions. Very nice little scale that can easily fit in a purse, gym bag or whatever.

This is a replacement for one I damaged (a different brand) by accidentally leaning on the scale, damaging the load cell. Word to the wise - close it up when not in use! At our model train club we require a minimum weight for freight cars, and this scale makes it easy to determine if additional weight is needed. I'm normally working in the area of 0 to 10 ounces, so 1000 grams (about 2 pounds or 32 ounces) is really overkill, but makes the scale useful for other tasks. Unit worked perfectly right out of the box. I got a set of weights at the same time that were offered by Amazon, to calibrate the unit. It was dead on as received. For the kind of uses I have, it would be silly to spend $40 or $50 to get a pocket scale when this unit Is available. I texted both units and both are perfectly calibrated as received. Use it on a flat surface so that the hinged lid does not interfere with the item being weighed. Other than that, I love the units and look forward to their having a long life.

I purchased this scale to weigh salts for beer brewing. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. The scale is accurate, keeps it's calibration (I got the 500gram calibration weight), and repeatable. I have checked the calibration several times over the year plus I have owned it, it has not needed re-calibration yet. The buttons and back-lit LED display are logically laid out and work well. For $9, this scale is a steal, I am very happy with it. ** NOTE ** Amazon keeps trying to bundle this scale with 100gram calibration weights. This scale (1000gram scale) requires the 500gram calibration weights. Pros: - Accurate (I weighed and reweighed a number of items, weight was always consistent and accurate) - Sensitive, Breathing over scale will cause weight to change. Put scale on hard heavy surface (granite counter-top is ideal) and avoid air currents if you are having problems with weight fluctuating. - Keeps calibration over long periods of time - Auto shutoff feature is nice Cons: - Case/lid is cheap plastic. Given the price point, I don't consider this to be a problem but it deserves mention - Removable weighing surface would be nice for cleaning purposes - Batteries unit came with where really cheap and only lasted 15-20 minutes of use

nice little scale, not perfect but close enough, unless you are looking for exact perfection then this might not be for you, but + or - a few tenths of milligram than this will do just fine. Some people will be picky, but what I use it for it does just fine. sometimes adjust + or - to original weight, but nothing crazy or to far off. Usually dead on to original measurement. may adjust = or - a tenth but usually gets back to original after a few seconds. I use to measure with confidence that it gets me within decent measurements. Like i said if you are trying to get down to tenths or hundreds then maybe another scale may be required, for regular smoke this works just fine. Will adjust properly if you are light or heavy in weight. no complaints, great pocket scale, AAA batteries so easy to replace if needed, needs a weight to be calibrated properly, but works just fine out of box, nickle measurement showed properly on first try and maintains true to original. so no complaints. I would definitely buy again without hesitation. now if you are trying to do science measurements then maybe not for you, but everyday regular use, just fine. no complaints, works fine every time, light is bright, numbers are large. buy with confidence it will meet your needs on a daily or regular basis. if you are really picky, then look elsewhere. Price is fair. built in cover works well. no issues, instruction are built into lid if you need to make adjustment, haven't had the need, so happy with purchase.

I am so happy with the purchase of this portable scale by American Weigh Scales! Out of the box, it was balanced and ready to weigh. Two AA batteries were installed (need to remove a plastic battery barrier to start operation) and the operation was intuitive. On-Off button, Mode button, and TARE button to reset the scale to zero once you weigh a container to be used to hold a product. I purchased this scale to weigh containers of paints for acrylic flow painting. I didn't need a large scale and wanted something that could measure both grams and ounces. This scale does both. It also folds up and is about the same size as my iPhone 8 plus with double the thickness in an Otterbox case. If this scale works for its intended purpose for a year or more, it will be well worth the eight bucks I spent on it. There is a 10-year limited warranty on this item, but with all the hoops you generally have to go through for warranty service, it might be worth the cost of a couple of mochas to simply buy a new one. Nice to know the company stands by their product though.

Good works and functions as it should

I've found this scale to be quite accurate for my needs. It's small, easy to calibrate, has a large-enough weigh area. The batteries seem to last for quite some time. The screen is back-lit, which is a nice bonus. My one complaint would be the sensitivity of the weighing area; while it's a known issue with lower-end scales such as this, small objects need to be placed in the center of the weighing area in order to get an accurate read. I've seen it vary by as much as .03 of a gram from the outside to the inside - certainly not a whole lot, but it can make a difference. Another note is that the lid does not conveniently detach for use as a weight boat, as I've seen with some similar models. It's about what I expected for the price.
