After reading this book, it is evident to me that the Catholic Church has it figured out. Those beliefs of the Church which are so questioned by the average Protestant, are answered clearly and effectively using scripture passages that may are not taught in the first place. Why Catholics call him father, why Catholics honor Mary, why Catholics believe in Eucharist, why Catholics go to confession. The book also clears up misconceptions about the faith. Catholics don't worship Mary. Catholics don't worship idols. Catholics don't just go out and resin after confession, etc. This book brings forth clearly that Catholics and Protestants have more in common than they have not in common. It is a great read for protestant and Catholics alike who really wish to know what they are talking about

This guide pinpoints direct quotes from the Bible which will answer any of these questions definitively. Calling it a "Pocket Guide" is very accurate. It's small, but full of so much information. There are not direct quotes from the Bible to support the Catholic Apologetics, but instead the author references the passages. This a great companion to understanding Catholicism--a necessity for Catholics, regardless of how much you may know about your religion, and anyone who is curious about Catholicism.

This handy guide allows me to flip instantly to appropriate Biblical passages that explain why the Catholic Church teaches as it does. It's extremely helpful when lay people ask, "Why do you do this?" or "Where does it say that in the Bible?" I can flip quickly to the appropriate text and go from there.

This is a short list of Scriptural passages per topic... it is so well formatted and can be used as a study guide for Catholics to memorize Scripture, and especially to have the exact passage immediately at your fingertips if you are in a debate with someone in error.

Easy read and very good .

I do think this book rates 5 stars (even if someone on amazon.com rated it 1 because it's largely biblical citations). This is a no frills book with lot's and lot's Scripture citations. For me this is perfect especially as a 60 page pocket book. I've read numerous books and webpages/blogs on various apologetic arguments that Catholics should be up to speed on but in discussing with my Evangelical friends, it is still great to be able to refer to the actual biblical reference behind the Catholic position quickly. I'm guessing this would even be helpful to non-Catholics who are wondering why the Church stands where it stands (given enough of an open mind to judge whether that interpretation could be worth consideration.)

Patrick Madrid has such a background in the Faith of the Catholic Church.He explains even the most complicated matter in an easy to understandformat and chooses his words wisely.We own several of his books. We have never been disappointed.Thanks for a great read in an easy format!Pleased Reader
