We used this as a birthday dinner party for my daughter. The kids dressed up and looked great. I (mom) acted as host so they could enjoy the evening. They really got into it and had a lot of fun. The kit comes with all the details to easily organize the whole evening. We originally purchased another murder mystery kit and discovered it was more like a game to analyze clues and figure out the mystery. That is fun in its own way, but if you want everyone to come dressed as a character and make a whole evening out of it, this brand is the way to go. Note: our kids were 11-12, and I'd say a little young for some of the themes of alcohol and the reading level. Still, everyone had a great time and they didn't seem daunted by words they did not know. And they know the difference between bad choices in real life and play acting. Since they were a little young for it, I think they especially enjoyed playing fancy dress-up, maybe even more than if they had been older.

Purchased this murder mystery game for a family gathering on a rainy day. We had so much fun with players from age 15 to 88! Laughter all evening and our 88 year old Mom was the only one who successfully solved the murder and she won best actress as well. My only word of advice is that the host read through the instruction booklet ahead of time rather than while playing. In addition we were able to send it home to our out of town family members so they could play and solve the remaining two murders. Three games in one box was a super value.

So, because I make excellent life decisions, I decided to throw a surprise 1920s murder mystery dinner… with two days notice… having never been to one, let alone hosted one. (I can barely solve the mystery of my disappearing socks) But this game was my absolute Hero! I didn’t have time to study the instructions fully so I copied them onto flashcards- easily my most genius idea of the whole night and Highly recommend - it makes you look organised and stops you from flipping through the instruction booklet like a confused muppet. I chose to play host only and not play along, even though the instructions made it super easy to join in. The characters and story were a blast, and the ready-to-go props and clues were such a win. Plus, I like that you can replay it with different endings - so next time, I’m definitely joining the chaos. My one note - I wish it came with more detective note sheets. My group burned through them like crime-hungry gremlins. But aside from that, everything was a hit! If you’re a last-minute planner or someone who thrives on organized chaos, this game is your friend. It makes you look like you actually know what you’re doing and is hilariously fun.

This was such a fun game, and really made my 16 year olds birthday party a hit among her friends. Especially when the norm is just some pizza and “hanging out”. Participants were encouraged to dress up, and we got some great costumes. We provided appetizers and a full three course meal to go along with each round, which helped break up any awkwardness or quiet moments. All of the included pieces are excellent quality, and the instructions are easy enough to follow. One thing I didn’t like were the weird suggestions on the bottom of each card, like “Make a ball out of a wadded up piece of paper and play tennis”. I didn’t feel like they added anything to the gameplay, and just seemed to detract from the actual mystery. I also didn’t really think the random “character traits” were necessary. Given that the game can be played three times, I’d hoped there would be three sets of awards to hand out, but there’s just one. The awards are simple, it they’re cute, and designed specifically for each category, so that was disappointing. I liked the flexibility of the numbers, which allowed us a little leeway. Other murder mystery games I’ve played have a strict number, and you better hope no one cancels at the last minute. I also like that the host can be involved, even if it’s mostly just at the beginning. This was an awesome game, and a great value!

Of course, as with all murder mysteries, read everything completely before you set it up. Bought this for a bachelorette weekend add a big old rectory in rural New England. We had a blast. First, I watched a YouTube on how to throw a murder mystery (and then told everyone to bring a costume and advised them of their character ahead of time which is required, this allowed them to pick their outfits because they knew a little bit about who they were). The game gave the option for me to know who the murderer was ahead of time or for it to also be a surprise to me the host. I chose for it to be a surprise so that none of the other players could try and seek clues for me. :) While we had many activities that weekend, this was certainly a favorite. I picked a period appropriate dinner to serve during the mystery. Really a fun way to make hours of the day (4 hours) pass quickly while still having the flexibility to serve and host a meal, including cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and dessert.

We had so so much fun playing this murder mystery game last Christmas that we want to make it an annual tradition.

First time having a murder mystery party, and this kit came with a really comprehensive guide to setting up and hosting. The host isn't possible as the killer, but all of the guests could be. There are three variations, color coded so you don't get them mixed. Great for casual first timers who want to read clues, have a little fun as their character, and it's also not over the top. My quieter friends had just as much fun as my life- of- the- party outgoing ones. I'm excited that we can play two more times with a new mystery.

Absolutely worth the money! Ended up running THREE different Murder Mystery Parties as the pack contains cards that allows for three different endings, so if word got out on "who did it" at the first party, it wasn't a spoiler for the next parties. The little props provided, the Host Guide, the gradual release of clues in the "Rounds" was done really well. It does require a little preparation from the Host as there is a reasonable amount of preparation to make the evening go smoothly but is definitely worth the time, money and effort,

The product is alright in and of itself, but it got quite damaged in transit and should come better protected. The image into the front of the box came scratched and the box is a bit dented. Luckily the contents survived the trip.
