A young hero, an exalted heiress, a troubled rogue, and a party girl…. These are the four members of RWBY, a team brought together and trained for the sole purpose of combating the rampant evils that plague the fantastic world of Remnant. RWBY focuses on 15-year-old Ruby Rose, a young girl who has just been accepted to Beacon Academy. This ancient school was founded to train the monster-slayers known as Huntsmen and Huntresses. However, Ruby will not be alone. Upon arriving at Beacon, she is promptly paired with Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long. If these four girls want to graduate they'll have to learn to work together both on the battlefield and in the classroom.

Open mind
I started watching this after Hunter X Hunter and did not have high expectations; however, knowing Red vs. Blue I decided to give the show a chance. Volume 1 was nothing amazing, but there were a few moments that made me laugh and kept me interested enough to move onto the other Volumes. I must say that like any series it starts off slow and picks up steam from there and you should not make a decision until Vol 2 is complete. As for those that hate the animation, well that is just preference, and you can't ding someone for their tastes. I enjoyed each of the voice actors and what they have brought to the series so far. In conclusion, I am no anime snob but this is an interesting story and I am looking forward to seeing what happens with the characters.

Why?
... I love anime. I have been a fan since the 80's. This "appeared" like it might be something along those lines and as it turns out... it isn't. The art work looks like it was produced on MS Paint (I've reproduced it IN MS Paint... so argue all you like, but that is the quality of this animation). South Park provides a better visual venue. As far as everything else... well, How do you rate a dinner where upon sitting down to eat you are poked in both eyes by the chef and THEN served your meal? I mean, this isn't audible, I'm not listening to a story... I'm watching (or trying to watch) one. So, would you rate the meal? Would you even eat it? I suppose on some level, someone, someplace (that isn't being paid) enjoyed this film (and lawdy lawd... they made SEQUELS???... why?). To you, kind person, I say "that is great!". Everyone can like whatever they like and that is why life is so great. I'd also like to tell you, you have terrible taste and thanks be to all that is, for not being you. Best!

Nice
Its funny. The CGI leaves a bit to be desired, but it doesn't really take away from the show in an absolutely disparaging way. I think its best trait is the harmless humor. In this day and age, a lot of our humor is sarcasm, demeaning, or not appropriate for all ages. RWBY showcases G rated humor along with interesting characters that grow as time goes on, good (like, amazingly choreographed) fight scenes, well placed music both in theme and note, and important moral problems like peer pressure or racial issues with a good storyline.

Great story, hilarious, don't let the beginning stop you.
Yes, the art is on a beginners budget, but it's very funny, and the beginning of a great story. Great music too. Season 2 is really funny, with a bigger budget on animation and all around. Season 3 has even better art/animation, and the story takes a deeper and darker turn. Watching Season 4 next!

It alright for what it is trying to be.
I have to ask if this was originally done in an episodic format because the story here is done in several arcs, some of which are good and other are really bad. The captain blonde mcdoffus arc is the worst of them and drips with old cartooniness and "moral lesson of the day" type of shows. The character himself is so grating to listen to, when the others are fun around him.Overall think of this as something like the old action cartoons and anime of the 80's, 90's and early aughts. It seems someone on the character design team must have watched some Nanoha, because there is a lot of similar styling to the weapons and gadgets with a new twist. It a decent time filler. Also, in case it bothers some people, the animation quality varies a lot. Some scenes are well done and others have really sloppy dubbing and texture muddiness to the CG.

Not for me
RWBY: Vol1I suppose this is the evolution of Saturday morning cartoon fare. Flimsy plot, average dialog, not very good voice actors. Though not up to the level of modern Anime, it looked to be crafted with a degree of skill, and I’m sure it has a following. I’m just not one of them. I gave up after fifteen minutes.

OH MANNNN
Oh man i love it! This was the first anime I watched as a reccomendation from a friend. I am rewatching it for nostalgia and MAN is it filled of it. I love the music and the design. The animation is so beautiful and simplistic yet so grungy and detailed. Its so beautiful and easy to enjoy and follow. I started this when I was and I am still enjoying almost 5 years later. The story is a little slow at first but gets amazing. It has twists and arks that make perfect sense to the story. It's so gorgeous in writing and in art style. I can understand how it won't be enjoyable for everyone but just try to give it a chance. It's worth the watch and so many more. The soundtrack is absolutely stunning and is amazing throughout the series. The voice actors chosen did an incredible job and are I am so impressed with the emotion potrayed. I may be personally bias because of the memories attached to it, but I still think that this is an incredible series.<3

One of the more creative anime's i've seen in a long time
This review is for Volume 1 only.Idk people keep complaining about the animation. Whatever, the base animation and faces are not the best but they are good enough. The combat is top notch, better than some top rate anime's i've seen. The weapons are some of the most creative you will ever seen a show or movie. The humor in it is very good as well. I was surprised at how good this is and i'm looking forward to watching more.

not perfect, but still a great show.
bought the 1-3 Blu-Ray boxset for myself and vol 1 on dvd by itself for a friendthis is an animated series that, whilst far from perfect, is well done and extremely enjoyable.i would assume this didn't have much of a budget as the animation can look a little odd at points and the voice acting can be a tad stiff.but the story is well written, the characters are all unique and likable and the art-style is extremely nice.even with it's flaws, this is still a show i couldn't recommend enough.R.I.P Monty Oum. you will be missed terribly.

REGION B BLU-RAYS (for those worried if they won’t play on your player)
This arrived fast and in good quality, my only complaint is that it is advertised as NTSC and being from the UK that is a complication as our players don’t play them. I bought myself a region-free bluray player to watch but when it arrived it was in fact region B. I wish I had known this prior so I didn’t need to make arrangements to watch these.

Its new, its diffferent, its great
Its a great beginning to a new story. Well worth watching, and its different to lots of other shows where all of the 4 main characters are female, which is a nice change from other shows I have watched.
