A Pretty Gentle Story
My unicorn obsessed girls are really enjoying this series. So far, it is sweet and simple with not too much crazy drama. Plus, it is about unicorns. Unicorns, unicorns, unicorns.

A Unicorn Surprise at Unicorn School
by my grade school daughter (most grammar, spelling and punctation preserved). Willow and her friends have a strong friendship together. First, the story takes place in the land named Arcadia. Next, the story takes place during school. Lastly, the main characters are Willow, Storm, Sapphire, Troy, Oriel, and Atlas. Willow comes to Unicorn School and makes fast friends with Storm, Sapphire, and Troy. But there's a problem, Storm can't fly very well without bumping into someone. Will Storm ever fly. First Willow a unicorn goes with her parents to Unicorn School. She hears a big unicorn named Storm snort goodbye to his dad. Oriel, a mean, older unicorn teases Willow. Willow and Sapphire help Storm go in the school. Willow, Storm, and Sapphire go in the school. Next Willow, Storm, and Sapphire find out that their house is Rainbow House(R.H.) and make fast friends with Troy. A unicorn named Juniper shows the year ones (in R.H.) the school.Plot Spoilers belowThen Willow and her classmates go to High Winds class to look at it. Its winds are so strong, Willow might fall of the cliff. Thank goodness, Storm saves Willow! They have lunch of oats and Storm and Willow are right next to each other. Oriel sees this and says "Hey it's little and large" he says teasly. Willow and her classmates learn a good luck charm after lunch. After that they have a flying lesson. Storm's having trouble flying and bumps into Sapphire! Then Sapphiregets hurt and gets healed by magic and Storm says he's "stupid and clumsy." Coming back from there lesson Oriel told Storm he knew what happened and said "Sounds like you had a smashing time!" and laughed at his own joke and ran away. A couple of days later, Oriel gives storm a cursed horeshoe and tells him it is good luck charm for his flying and to sleep with it for a night to get affected by it (and he does). The next day at flying Oriel's curse spreads to the whole class and their teacher, Atlas, except for Willow. And the curse ends.Oriel dares Willow to come with him to High Winds Pass (and she does) then she becomes trapped. But luckily her friends come to help her. Also Storm learns to fly. First Oriel dares Willow to come to High Winds Pass with him and leaves her alone for a trick and now she's trapped by a big tree trunk! Lastly, Oriel goes and gets her friends and they push the oak tree trunk just enough so there's space for Willow to go through. And they all fly back to school. Oriel is sorry for Storm and says sorry and tells Atlas what he did.I believe this book was a very special fantasy, friendship book. First, it's a wonderful story on a strong friendship. So strong Willow risks her life to help Storm! Next she and her friends Troy and Sapphire don't like to see Storm upset and try to cheer him up. Lastly even if Willow is scared she becomes brave to risk herself for Storm. And it has lots of exciting things in "Unicorn School First Class Friends."

Yay for Willow!
My daughters love this series and the My Secret Unicorn series. This series is about unicorns training for when they go to earth to be a secret unicorn helper. The unicorns have real problems to solve and the solutions are clever. We wish there were more.

A wonderful book for young girls
Business as usual in the Unicorn School.Think of Mallory Towers or Astrosaurs' Academy and you have the measure of the Unicorn School (of course, the Unicorn School is not to be compared as it is a wonderful book for little girls in its own right). It is about a boarding school for Unicorns, with all its little joys and happiness but also little problems of year 1. It is also the story of how important friendship are.Oriel is the bully of the Year 1 class (yes, even some unicorns can be less than nice!), and he always bullies Storm, a shy unicorn who is the tallest and biggest unicorn in the classroom. Oriel teases him because of this. One day, Oriel gives a charmed horseshoe to Storm but it is in fact a cursed horseshoe. And it is when big problems and danger starts... a very dangerous adventure.I bought this for my daughter who is nearly 10 and at the moment, is very much into unicorns. But a younger reader can easily reads it too . It is preferably for girls, but I am sure some younger boys will like it to.Linda Chapman is a wonderful children books writer.Check her pages on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linda-Chapman/e/B001H6WF1I/ref=sr_tc_2_0?qid=1370122265&sr=1-2-entMy children also read her http://www.amazon.co.uk/Super-Powers-Collection-DOOM--SNARLING/dp/B004HK9CZS/ref=sr_1_9?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1370122810&sr=1-9&keywords=superpowers+++alex+cliff (she also wrote under the name of Alex Cliff for these) and my girl is also currently reading herΒ Stardust: Believe in Magic Β books. A review by proxy...
...the reason being, I haven't read it. It was bought for my 9 year old daughter - who will gladly read anything that contains a sniff of something horsey. Now, she says it was "a good book and she enjoyed it". When I tried to draw her on the characters, the plot and description...she said it was "a good book and she enjoyed it - and what did I mean by those other things".So...i'm going to give this an I-like-it four stars on the basis that a) she read it from cover to cover and b) it kept her quiet for approximately 4 hours. I'm of the opinion that any reading at her age is good and she's going through all of these with gusto. On the face of it - me telling you it's a good book based on her feedback is just as subjective as me telling you it's a good book based on my feedback....so you're always going to be taking a bit of a risk!
