It is a manual pump that does not require any electricity. There is not an electrical cord with this product.

Q: Can this be used to pump water from a hose attached to the bottom of an above-ground tank? (Needing to get water from the tank to the horse paddock.)

It can draw water approximately 250’ horizontally and 25’ vertically. It would be best to pump from the top of the tank. It seems a bottom hose would have pressure and not require a pump. Give us a call at 1-800-339-2601 and we can help you properly configure your pump system.

If your well's static water level is less than 25 feet then the Model 1900 pump will work for you. It has a 2" NPT water inlet on the bottom. You can just thread it directly to the 2" well casing assuming that it too is threaded.

Q: Can garden hoses be attached to both ends of the pump in order to use the Bison as a manual backup in case of home sump pump failure?

The spout of the Bison pump is a hose bibb connection. This allows you to attach a standard hose to the spout. However, you would want to add a pressurizing kit which contains a check valve to prevent water backflow. The Bison pump and pressuring kit is supplied by Bison Pumps. Thank you for your interest.
