A Quality of Life Improvement for Me
I waited for my third bottle to follow up with a review for this product. I feel the results have been excellent, and along with some other changes, I can safely say my quality of life has improved. After several trips to the E.R. for the past two years because of some worrying heart palpitations/fluctuations, I was at a total loss with what to do. No one seemed to have any definitive reason for what was happening, and quite frankly the stress that not knowing the cause, seemed to make the heart palpitations even worse. A nurse friend suggested that this may be something really simple, like a magnesium and calcium imbalance. So here are my results after two bottles: +After 8-10 days of taking two capsules a day, my heart fluctuations (which were SEVERE at night and in the AM) almost disappeared completely. I would say 70% better in that time period +After the first bottle was empty (about 30 days) I quite literally stopped even thinking about the problems I was having. After more research I decided to add a 1/2 scoop a day of Hydrilla Calcium (I use Vibrant Health's super natural calcium but there are others on the market as well) I think a few things happened. 1. A magnesium deficiency was negated 2. A calcium imbalance was taken care of 3. Perhaps most importantly, I didn't feel the stress of not knowing. I am now on bottle 3. I would say after starting this regimen of two in the morning, along with calcium later after work, and regular running and exercise I am a completely different person. I can't stress enough how big of an impact this product had on my mentality, after the results started coming in. After researching other brands, and getting multiple recommendations from nutritionists I really trust, I think I will stick with CRL. Excellent product, I hope it works for you too! I highly recommend if you are having similar problems, to give this a try along with running or walking. I feel like a completely different person.

This Product Gave Me My Life Back.
I started experiencing heart palpitations approximately 4 years ago. They started as random flutterings that would come and go as I lay down to go to sleep. They became progressively worse, and would often go on for days. These maddening incidents continued to worsen until they would culminate in a period of continuous palpitations, with my heart pounding rapidly and sporadically. These periods started in spurts of 20-30 minutes and once they stopped the palpitations would go away completely for a few weeks, then start building again. After one incident where the palpitations lasted for 2 hours, I went to the emergency room, but they stopped before the physicians could catch it on an EKG (thanks for the 20 minute delay in the waiting room even though there was no one in the place at the time). Wash, rinse, repeat. The palpitations kept coming back, building, and culminating in an extended, frightening, painful period of rapid, irregular heart palpitations sometimes lasting 4-6 hours. These incidents left me feeling exhausted and horribly frustrated as no one could tell me *why* they were happening, *what* was causing them, or how to stop them. I underwent blood tests. I did a stress test. I wore a holter monitor. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Bubkis. I was at the end of my rope, frustrated, angry, and unsure of what to do next as no could tell me what in the hell was wrong with me. I lived every day wondering when the palpitations would return, where I would be, and whether my heart would eventually give out. Then I discovered Magnesium Taurate. During a "building period" when I knew the palpitations were steadily growing and I was within a matter of days of being subjected to a 4-6 hour period of my heart attempting to hammer its way out of my chest, I was searching Google for *any* way of addressing, treating, or stopping these damned palpitations. I read an article about Magnesium deficiency causing heart palpitations, and specified magnesium taurate specifically because of its superior absorption rate. Figuring "What the hell" I drove to a local retailer that had it in stock and bought a bottle. I took 4 tablets initially, and within an hour the palpitations had stopped. Completely. Not, subsided, not lessened, but stopped. I was shocked. Then next day I took 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. Still no palpitations. Nothing. Not even a hiccup. It has been a year now, and I have had no issues with palpitations, no multi-hour heart incidents that no physician can explain. If I go for a day or two and miss some doses I will feel a couple of flip-flops in my chest, but if I pop a couple of these, everything goes back to normal. I can't say enough about this product, and would pay significantly more to obtain it. If you suffer from heart palpitations and no one can give you an answer, and least give this mineral a try, as it might just give you your life back.

Ecellent Source of This Very Important Mineral!
Three years ago I was having a lot of PVC's. (Premature Ventricular Contractions). I was having in excess of 15,000 per day. We were of course very worried. The concern is that over time they could decrease the ejection fraction of the heart. Ejection Fraction is one measurement of heart strength. I had read many articles on magnesium claiming that up to 90 percent of people are deficient in this important mineral. Why is that? Well the depleted soil does not have the magnesium that it once did. Plus stress, sugar and alcohol all rob the body of magnesium. What does magnesium do you ask? Well it is only responsible for 300 chemical reactions in the body. It's important for everything from heart to muscles. It's a calming mineral. My understanding is that you need to take magnesium by itself if you are deficient as taking it with calcium is counter productive as one will take from the other. I started talking this product and over time coupled with a exercise program my PVC's have dropped significantly. They dropped to 25 percent of what they were and I believe that they have dropped even further at this point in time. I will know in a month when I wear the 24 holter monitor. I hit magnesium fairly heavy and was taking 600-800mg a day of this product. I am continuing to take it but in a reduced amount. I believe it is a high quality product. As an aside my 93 year old mother-in-law was having problem sleeping and had cramps in her leg. She went to her doctor and he advised magnesium and I gave her a supply of these. She takes two at dinner and sleeps well and has no more cramps. She had a magnesium deficiency. Apparently stress, alcohol, sugar all rob the body of magnesium. This is an excellent product. At the moment my PVC's are stable and the last holter showed 3000 a day. Besides magnesium I am taking 1000mg of Taurine and 1000 L'Arginine. Both of those amino acids are important to the heart. This is some data online about the positive results of treating heart electrical issues with these amino acids. Search George Eby Research and PVC's. As usual discuss with your doctor.

Miracle Magnesium
I'm 41. I'm overweight. I've lived a carefree life until I was 39. Each night I would barely sleep because of my sleep apnea. I would go to work, eat a high carb breakfast, and then drink sugar filled caffeinated drinks throughout the day because I was exhausted, and thought they would give me a tiny boost of energy. Little did I know I was robbing my body of magnesium. Fast forward to the past three months. I've been having extreme anxiety and stress, sometimes for no apparent reason. About three weeks ago I notice that I was having heart palpitations. I've been having a lot of stress at home and work. I was afraid to go to a doctor. I'm already on blood pressure medication, and borderline diabetic. I prayed to God, that He would either heal me, or show me what I was deficient in so I could fix it. I knew I had damaged my body from all the sugar I've been eating/drinking my life. That day I researched ways to fix heart palpitations, there was a list of breathing exercises I could try, but it was pointed out that it could also be a magnesium deficiency. I started researching magnesium, and noticed I had many of the symptoms. I started researching the best magnesium to take for anxiety and heart palpitations, and it was recommended to take Magnesium Taurate. I ordered a bottle. The day it arrived I took 2. It was a Friday and I had a stressful day at work. Within 20 minutes I felt this warm calming sensation wash over me, and oddly my anxiety seemed to subside. I took three more before bed. My palpitations didn't stop. They might have slowed down, but that was it. But I read that sometimes it can take weeks and even months for a severe magnesium deficiency to correct itself. I mention this in case you think you will get instant relief. You probably won't. Especially if your deficiency is bad enough. But hang in there and keep up with it. Something else that happened was for the first 3 days I started taking this supplement i experienced very vivid dreams. Normally when I wake up I don't remember my dreams. I've read magnesium helps with memory retention. But I wasn't expecting to remember dreams. So, I've been taking 1000 mg a day (8 pills). It's been nine days. Finally, my palpitations are nearly gone. My sleep is more restful, and I just have a better sense of well being. I used to get anxiety going to places with lots of people, and these past few days I've felt so mellow. I've greatly reduced caffeine intake and lowered my sugar intake even more. My energy levels are returning. A few other things I've noticed, my morning blood sugar levels are 15 points lower. This has been consistent, and just yesterday they were 20 points lower. i was taking cinnamon supplements but would only control my blood sugar if it spiked. This stuff is helping lower it overall. My blood pressure is starting to lower as well. I thank God for letting me find out I was magnesium deficient, and letting me find this product.

Good product but very expensive
Anyone who takes magnesium knows it's helpful to ease leg cramps and muscle spasms. There are many forms of magnesium, and I believe the best one is whichever works and doesn't upset your stomach. I've experienced digestive trouble with both oxide and citrate formulas, so I look for aspartate, glycinate or taurate when shopping for a cal/mag supplement. Unfortunately, those are rare, so I began taking magnesium separately at night. The capsules are small & easy to swallow. You need to take 3 to get 90% of the recommended daily allowance of this essential mineral, so 180 capsules is a 2 month supply. It's actually best to split up dosages of any supplement, since your body can only absorb so much. I find that the leg cramps that woke me up during the night are gone and the formula is gentle to my stomach. The taurate is supposed to be relaxing, but I experienced a stronger effect when I took citrate in powder form (Peter Gillham's Calm) The price on Amazon from Vitamin Shoppe is very competitive, but $25 is still much higher than other magnesium products, so I'm not sure if I'll order it again. I can recommend this product for its quality and Vitamin Shoppe for the quick shipping, but I'll probably be ordering something else next time. I am editing this today, Oct 25. I ordered another magnesium supplement (from another vendor) with oxide & citrate, and I've had a lot of stomach cramping. I can't tell if it's because the product is stronger or isn't being absorbed into my system. In any case, I wanted to add this to my March review, since I decided it's probably necessary to spend a little more to get what works best.

Absorbs well
This is the most effective magnesium product I have tried so far. I feel it makes a good difference in calming nerves and my ability to concentrate. Don’t always feel such a difference with other magnesium products. Apparently a large percentage of people is magnesium deficient and doesn’t know it. I take 1 of these at lunch and 1 at dinner. Works well.

A must have for any low-carb dieter, and great for many other uses as well.
I generally follow a lower carbohydrate diet, and it's difficult for me to get the daily recommended dose of Magnesium following that plan. I started taking these a couple of years ago to help me sleep at night, and I haven't stopped since. I take two capsules every night around 8:00, usually after my nightly walk, and they really me relax and fall asleep a couple of hours later. Magnesium is often overlooked in our diets, which is unfortunate given how amazing it is. Some doctors have come to call it the "relaxation mineral", as it helps greatly with muscle cramping. Magnesium also has been proven to help with: Muscle cramps or twitches (restless leg syndrome), Insomnia, Irritability, Anxiety, ADD, Palpitations, Constipation, Headaches, Migraines, Chronic fatigue, Diabetes, Obesity, Osteoporosis, High blood pressure, PMS, Menstrual cramps, Irritable bladder, Irritable bowel syndrome, Reflux. I don't believe there are miracles in a bottle. Nothing beats a good diet full of real foods and exercise, and I think magnesium fits nicely in the mix. If you're having trouble sleeping at night, particularly on a lower carbohydrate diet, add these along with plenty of Vitamin D and sodium, and it should help. As far as Cardiovascular Research Magnesium Taurate goes, I do think it is the best brand you can buy on Amazon in terms of value and potency. There are no marketing gimmicks behind this, as you can see by the "fancy" printing on the bottle. It's just a great product, and one I highly recommend.

It took a few months, but my symptoms are subsiding
After a few years of taking omeprazole, I began having muscle cramps, twitches, weakness, fatigue, nervousness and difficulty sleeping. I would come home from work barely able to function, let alone engage in evening activities. A thorough round of blood testing did not identify anything wrong, so I was simply living with the symptoms. Then I read that long-term use if omeprazole and other stomach acid reducers could result in magnesium deficiency. A search of health articles revealed that my symptoms were consistent with magnesium deficiency, and that there's evidence that blood tests may not be a reliable way of detecting true Mg levels. Then I started reading up on ways to replenish Mg. I started out by changing my diet to increase my intake of Mg-rich foods like almonds, cashews, spinach, black beans, brown rice, etc. Not much difference. Then I asked my doctor about Mg supplements. He said my kidneys are healthy and supplements likely wouldn't hurt me. I searched online for the best supplements. Mg taurate was the one that was the most often recommended that didn't cause intestinal issues. The reviews of Cardiovascular Research Mg taurate were very positive, so I decided to give it a try (250mg/day). For the first few weeks there was no change. Then the leg cramping at night went away, and have never came back. That alone is a nice improvement. The next thing I noticed is my exercise routine (bicycling and lifting) became easier. Longer, faster rides, and more reps. Then the twitches stopped. Then I noticed I was handling stressful situations better. After a few more months my sleep became longer and more sound. I was waking refreshed for the first time in many years. Finally, the fatigue started to subside. Finally! Now I'm slowly getting back to my normal evening activities. Still not "normal", but I'm feeling better than I have in a long time. I can't prove that Mg taurate made the difference for me, but it all adds up. There's enough proof for me to continue taking it with the hopes I will continue to improve. Update 11/8/2014: Wow, I just went back and re-read this review. I had forgotten how bad things were before taking these. My symptoms continue to improve, even more so after adding vitamin B12 supplements.
