Can this be used in an electric oil diffuser?

I doubt it. Although I've never tried. You would have to ask the manufacturer. I've always used as a diffuser and it works great.

How long do you think the scent lasts in the diffuser?

I have 2 of these in my apartment. One in the living room and one in the bedroom. I opened them at the same time and the levels of how long they have lasted are different. First, I flip the reeds weekly to gift off fresh scent. Second, I believe the one in the living room has less because it's directly in the sun. Long story short, I opened them both in March 2016 and they are both approaching 1/4th a glass of oil left.

Are the reeds necessary? Can you just do the cute bottle and oil or will you not be able to smell it?

You can do that if you would like but the scent is better with the little reeds it sucks up the oil and it smells a lot stronger than the bottle just being opened.
