Does this phone run on the gsm network, and will it work in the us?

Hi, this device will run on GSM both for the primary and secondary SIM. The device has two modems (2 IMEIs) with the primary SIM connected to a modem that supports 4G, 3G & 2G. The secondary SIM connects to a modem that only uses GSM. The GSM support is for the following frequency bands: 2, 3, 5, 8 equating to 850/900/1800/1900 mhz. From what I can gather, the US typically uses 850 & 1900 for GSM so the answer to your question should be yes... however I would suspect it may be situational based on your geolocation coverage and the network you are trying to attach to. The primary SIM will, I suspect, always favour 4G above 3G or 2G so unless your subscription is only offers 2G, then you will spend little time on it on the primary SIM. I also recall reading that the primary modem will, if the subscription / network offer it, support Voice over Wifi/Voice over 4G (VoWifi & VoLTE). Worth noting that with the rollout of 4G and the commencement of 5G rollouts, the US carriers are favouring sunsetting their 2G networks so something to be mindful of. Hope this answer is useful :-)

can you put a lanyard on any of the caterpillar phones

On the second picture in this listing, there’s a small square visible towards the bottom right of the back of the phone. This is the lanyard hole on my B35.

What is the sound quality like for actually speaking to people?

Sound quality Good, it’s not a touch screen though therefore it’s not very good if you want to access the internet. The phone is very robust that is the main reason for purchase.

Can you check email on this phone?

I believe so but the phone is not great, mine going back for repairs after only 6 months
