Solid trackball good for daily 8+hour use esp. for those with large hands
I got this to use in my primary work station and use it 8 hours a day or more 5+ days a week. The large ball is smooth and makes pointer placement more precise, Bluetooth easy to use, alternative RF transceiver also easy to use, signal of both wireless connections is strong, device is solid quality, stays put but not too heavy when go mobile, software decent, buttons easy to use once used to them, customizable but I haven't done much with that feature set. It took a while to get used to using my fingers to move the ball after using a thumb-driven trackball for a long time, but it's a good switch to keep RSI at bay. Overall, good value.

Great mouse, with some exceptions.
I am leaving a review of the Elecom Huge and Deft Pro after over a week of intensive "testing" of several trackball mice. Let me begin by stating that I am new to the trackball world so these are my observations from that point of view and I'm leaving these reviews in hopes that it will help someone else who might find themself in a similar situation to what I was in a week ago with no experience with trackballs in a world of opinions.I have mid-sized hands with somewhat thicker "carpenter" fingers and I bought this item to replace a mouse for general and light CAD use. I have a CAD mouse for more intricate work but over the years of design and IT work I'm beginning to develop wrist discomfort. This was the first finger trackball that I tried after testing a Logi M575 that a friend brought over to try for Fusion work. I was hooked on the ball, but I wanted a little more control so I went with the finger style. I found the thumb style to fatigue my thumb joint a little too much.Right out of the box I was impressed by how relaxed my wrist felt on the Huge. I liked the size of the ball and the smoothness of the scroll wheel. It seemed very intuitive to someone new to the trackball realm. The two things I couldn't get over were the stretch of the side buttons with my somewhat shorter fingers and of course, what many of the other reviews talk about, the "stiction" of the ball itself. I did like to overall ergonomics, but decided to defer to the Deft Pro for my next try.I found the Deft Pro to be a better fit for my shorter fingers and the ball a little easier to control for more intricate commands in Fusion while cradling it between my first and middle finger and occasionally passing it off to my right ring finger. I also liked the way that my hand relaxed in a "cradle" position over the Deft Pro while allowing me to rest my wrist lightly on the table. The Huge allowed a straighter relaxed wrist on the device overall, but the Deft Pro felt like it was easier to control for smaller movements. Again though, the bearings on the Deft Pro were too sticky for me and I ordered the bearings to replace them as many have suggested, but decided to return both units before I modified them after finally settling on a combination of a much smoother out-of-the box Slimblade pro for general use and a 3dconnexion CAD and Space mouse combo for design work. The CAD mouse has a really nice form factor for a mouse and I was immediately able to find a comfortable relaxed position on the ambidextrous Slimblade Pro. I didn't have to 'hover' on the Slimblade as many reviews have noted. I realize that this type of setup isn't easy to obtain for a lot of people so I'll leave with this final word based on my spending a week with all three trackballs. Both the Deft Pro and the Huge are great trackballs and a lot of people like them once they are modified to fix the sticky ball issues. As a CAD guy I didn't like the click of the Deft Pro scroll wheel and I though that it felt cheap compared to other scroll wheel mice I've used, but I could have gotten used to that because of the Deft Pro's overall precise control factor if it weren't for the "stiction". Elecom makes track balls feel intuitive, even for new believers like myself, I just couldn't get past the quality issues with the bearings right out of the box. I was either going to spend less for a mouse than the price of Elecoms and deal with the issues they might have caused or spend more and get the performance that I was looking for without having to modify a unit right from the start. These are just my opinions, but I hope this helps someone else who may have been reading reviews for hours, and testing units like I was just to find a suitable replacement.

Know your tech!
Great comfort. The driver program did not come in English, but it was easy to change. I love that three of the buttons are also programmable and I have them set for cut/copy/paste. I suggest the HUGE for wrist comfort as I had to purchase an additional mat with the DEFT PRO. About 2 years now and I have zero issues with movement. This works well with Bluetooth and the cable to plug in. Very worth it. The battery has a great life, even on the max DPI settings. So glad I got it.

Very comfortable to use, worked perfectly out of the box
It took me a whole 5 minutes to get used to. I didn't even load the software for it, and I really don't care because it was perfect the way it is. I have read reviews about impeded movement of the track ball and complaints about the instructions. I found neither of these complaints to be an issue for me. It just works so very well.So I have been using PC's since the dawn back in the 80's. My favorite pointing device has been the Kensington Expert Mouse. I am on the PC for both professional IT business and personal entertainment for more than 12 hours every day, so ergonomics is very important to me. This track bal has been great so far, and has eliminated pain from repetive motion that I have experienced from most mouse / trackball devices. So far I have to say after 3 hours of use, this device, the Elecom Deft Pro has been excellent. The trackball is in a really good position, and so is the scroll wheel. The locations of the left and right mouse buttons, on either side of the scroll wheel, is highly intuitive. It is very fluid and can cover a lot of screen real estate quickly, and yet be super precise about positioning the mouse cursor, such as when you want to highlight the first 8 characters of a word or sentence. It is also great for free form outlining of graphical elements in photo editing software.I will update my review over time, but so far this one is the best I have used.Update 1/29/2023I lowered my rating because you apparently have to be able to read Japanese to be able to configure the mouse. So when I got it and plugged it into the usb port on my computer, it automatically installed the driver and works ok, but there was no way to change the functions of the various buttons. So I downloaded the app from the Elecom website and installed it. The app appears to change the function of the buttons, but none of it is in English so it is not usable for me. There was a language selection to choose English on the lower left, but as you can see from the attached screen shot, it is not in English.Update 2/4/2023I changed my rating to 4 stars because the ergonomics of this track ball are really good. I am on the computer so much that I get a lot of pain from operating the mouse. This one is the most comfortable mouse device I have used so far. The ball is large and that gives more speed and precision for those with large monitors and multiple monitors like myself.Update 12/12/2023I bought my second unit. This is definitely the most comfortable mouse/track ball I've ever used. I moved the rating back to 5 because I learned that if you run the setup program twice, that the app will appear in English instead of Japanese. This helped a lot but the profile name for the settings is still in Japanese. Overally though this is very wll made, quiet, and easy to use.
